so me and my fiance decided that we want to have another baby. I stopped taking my brith control pills but i have read that it may take up to a year for us to actually get pregnant :( so i was just wondering if anyone has stopped taking the pill and was lucky enough to get pregnant right away? or how long did it take? just curious i really hope it doesent take too long for us!

I was on the pill for six years. My mother has fertility issues so i thought that i might as well. My husband and i were only married 6 months before I went off of the pill. I went off in April and got pregnant in June. I was pretty shocked! The second time I thought that there was no way we would get pregnant so quickly so we started trying when our daughter was 15 months old. Same scenario, except I went off the pill a few months earlier due to migraines. We started trying in April and got pregnant again in June. You just never know until you try!

Yes!! I got pregnant the very next cycle after going off the pill. We weren't even trying either haha. It will really help if you chart your cycles (bbt, cervix position etc.). It's really easy and will increase your chances!

My family is extremely fertile and I got pregnant two weeks after stopping my pills but I don't have normal cycles..Good luck!! sorry I couldn't be of much assistance

however, it really depends on the person, ive got friends who have tried for years after getting off the pill.
I wish you the best of luck!! the important thing is not to stress too much :)

This makes me laugh..this is exactly what happened to me :) I had decided to go off my birth control I had been off for about a few days or week and I was going to talk to the doctor about getting on a new kind because it was making sick. Next thing I know Im pregnant, now Im 18 weeks along. Good luck to you both. I think it may depend on the pill and the person.

When I went off birth-control I conceived that month. Unfortunately, it was an eptopic pregnancy and ended miscarrying.

I used to work in an OB clinic and they probably tell you it could take a year because that is the timeframe that you can be trying without the doctors thinking something is not working right fertility wise. You only have about a 20% chance of becoming pregnant every month that you try so they say the "typical" amount of time it takes women under 30 or 35 to concieve is about 6 months. That being said, with my first and second I became pregnant 6 weeks after stopping birth control! Good luck and I hope it happens quickly for you!

I was on the pill for 5 years and after my hubby and I got married I stopped taking it and less than a month later I got pregnant. That was in 2007. After I had my daughter in 2008, I went back on the pill until Sept of 2009. We were trying for our 2nd child and it took us 6months and we got pregnant in March of 2010!! My due date is early Dec and we thought it wouldnt take near as long but I did chart my temps and use the OPKs the 2nd time. Sometimes I think people put to much into having a baby. That is what my hubby said about my taking my temp each morning, but it worked for us!!

My sister tried for 11months and got pregnant on her 12th month after birth control. She is due in early Jan 2011!!! Good Luck!!

I have a set of two year old b/g twins and got on the pill after them. But come to find out some how we conceived our youngest son, who turned a month yesterday, while I was still on the pill. I talked to my dr about this, because I plan on going on the IUD this time, and he said it's different for everyone. He said he knew a person who was on the pill for ten years and then they got pregnant a month after they got off the pill.

My doctor told me it takes roughly 3 months for your cycle and hormones to get back to normal aftertaking the pill. Although everyone is different my husband and I got pregnant the 1st time we tried after being on the pill for many years. We just decided to start trying again and I have been off birth control now for 3 months and still not pregnant so its different everytime.

I got really sick on the pill so i tried switching to a different brand. I fell pregnant during the switch. I didn't know i was pregnant and thought the new pill was also making me sick so i went off it right away. I miscarried when i was about 4 weeks along. I hadn't known i was pregnant until i lost it. Then 2 weeks later i was pregnant again and had my gorgeous son. After he was born i went back on the pill but it made me really sick again so after 2 months i went off it and decided not to use any contraception. It took me 10 months to fall pregnant again (i didn't breast feed) but i miscarried again and then another 3 months and i was pregnant again. Now i am 10 weeks along and hoping everything goes well this time. Every person is different. the pill really messed with my cycle and made my periods very irregular. I only had 4 in that 10 months it took to fall pregnant after my son was born. I hope it works nice and fast for you :)

Well for me it took about 6 months of being off of my pill...but everyone is different! I have a friend who basically got pregnant the month she stopped her pill!!! I thought she was joking when she told me. I guess it just depends on the person, so if this is what you want just be patient and it will happen in its own time! GOOD LUCK!!

I would say it all depends on your body. I was on the pill for almost 10 years, and when we decided to try for baby #2 around my sons first birthday, I went off the pill middle of August and conceived our daughter September 9th.So good luck!

well i was only on it since january. it was right after brookes first year appointment i got the prescription from the dr. it was mostly because we werent ready at the time and i figured it would be the best to go on it and then we would have our 2nd when we were completly ready. if i had known then that it could take that long i wouldnt of even bothered. Ive only been on it for 6 months so hopefully it doesent take too long. like everyone sais it depends on the person i guess. but ive heard alot of positive things so far so it makes me feel alot better :) thanks guys

I was on the pill for 6 or 7 years when we decided to try for a baby. My parents tried for 7 years to have a baby before they finally got pregnant so we were concerned it would take us a while. I stopped the pill November 18, 2007, had a period and found out we were pregnant December 23, 2007.
I have heard that it can take a while to conceive the second time. I hope it doesn't for us when we decide to try for baby number 2.

Before I had my first I was on the pill for several years, missing only one pill and only taking 1 or 2 "late". I was obsessive over when to take them. It took us the 3rd cycle of trying to become pregnant. If you've only been on it a year you might get pregnant sooner (I know some who do).

I was on the mini-pill after having my first, and we got pregnant as soon as I stopped taking it.

With hormones sometimes it stays in your body for up to 3 cycles/months, but it depends on how long you've been on it, how you've taken it, and your body.

I was on the pill for 12 years and stopped taking it 9mths before we started trying for a baby.
I thought it might not happen straight away and started trying a month early. However, I fell pregnant on the first attempt which meant our daughter was born 7 days before I was due to sit my university exam and not a month after my exam like I had planned. I was 26.
Even if I hadn't stopped my pill 9mths before I think I wld have fallen pregnant strraight away. I guess it depends on the individual.

thank god! brooke is already 18 months old so i was kind of hoping that they would be close in age. if i were to get pregnant right away brooke would be a little over 2 almost 2 1/2 before i have the next one. When i read that it could take up to a year i was worried...i dont want brooke to be over 3 before she gets a sibling! i would of started sooner but its only now my fiance agreed its time for another! oh well i guess we will just have to try and try and hope for the best! hopefully it will happen right away :)

I have never been on the pill, but a relative of mine recently got pregnant after being on the pill for years. When they finally decided to try for a baby she went off the pill (thinking that it would take her about a year as well) and was pregnant the next month! Really depends on the person though, cuz it took me 5 months this time and like i said i've never been on birth control. Good luck to you i know how much it sucks when its taking a long time!
