Any tips for helping with housework?

I have a 3 yo and 17 mo - both girls - and I have been finding that I have been neglecting the housework because it never goes away (do something then it feels like 10 minutes later it needs doing again). I've been getting "what's-the-point-itis" :)

Does anyone have any tips on how to do house work so it doesn't feel like that's all I do?

I had that same problem so i divided my house up into days. I deep clean a room in my house each day and just do regular pick up stuff before my husband gets home so its not overly messy but i have my 3 year old help me with small things that don't involve any chemicals. I also broke my laundry up into a schedule because otherwise it piles up and I'm too overwhelmed

ive broken mine up, i try and do 2 loads of washing a day and give myself at least 1day a week where i dont wash. if im feeling tired i will leave putting the clothes away until the following morning. I try and make sure my dishes are done of evening otherwise it just starts the day out bad. I have a tiled downstairs where we spend most of our time so make sure i sweep every evening, i have a swivel sweeper and its fantastic. I dont bother putting my sons toys away until he is in bed otherwise he just pulls them all back out again. Unfortunatly my bathroom scrubbing has gone a little way side, i do it when i notice the shower needs scrubbing and i vary rarley dust and its a lazy dust.
It can all get a little overwhelming at times i have weeks where it feels like i do nothing but clean and say the word no. my son is 14months and im 8 weeks of my due date for number 2

Maybe make it a game so your girls can join in? And we all know, monkey see monkey do! So perhaps big sis could be a trend setter for little sis! Just use your imagination!

i'd have to say i'm the last person that should be giving advice on housework! my mum always says 'if you vaccuum and do the dishes it gives the illusion of your house being much more clean than it really is!' this works for me, cuz i'm a hoarder and a collector of crap! lol. my best tip would be to put your washing and powder in the machine at night, then turn it on 1st thing in the morn. my partner leaves for work early and the washing is ready to hang when i get up :)

I make sure that my girls have a place to put all of there stuff so it makes it easy for them to tidy there own room. My girls share a room they are 2 1/2 and 3 3/4 in there bedroom I have put a couple of large bright pink rolling bins that they can chuck there loose toys in, my eldest daughters bed is a loft bed and there is a bookcase and dress up area under the bed so they know to put there stuff in there. Basically I make sure that they know where everything belongs in there own bedroom and I have taught them to put there rubbish in the bin, dishes in the sink that kind of stuff. I still feel like I'm cleaning all day but it does stay cleaner for longer than it use to =)

Girl, I have 6 kids and the cleaning never stops at my house. I like to try to do some cleaning at ngiht when they go to bed to lessen the work for the next day. I have the kids pick up their toys and they have to opick up whatever mess they make. My 2 older stepsons do their chores after school ex. feed and water all animals, clean catboxes, clean rooms, and sometimes they help with laundry. Everything thing else I do. I do dishes twice a day once in the morning and then at night after dinner. Vaccuuming is done in the evening while dinner is cooking. Laundry is done at least 1 load a day. You just have to find a routine that works for you. Dusting I do one day a week and the bathroom is everytime I go in there, hahaha I hate having a messy house and its hard to keep it clean with having soo many kids so do your best and get done what you can. I have a sign hanging above my fireplace that says "Cleaning done properly can KILL you" hahaha.

i have the same problem, my son who is 5 is like a little tornado, I cant seem to keep the house under control. it is like right when i start, something come up.....i feel your pain....i have also tried to divide tasks into different days. Then you aren't so overwhelmed, and you get a sense of accomplishment :)

I always sweep the house before I go to bed. That way when you wake up its clean, and I only sweep it once unless it really needs it. I also get my 3 year old to help wash clothes. I also try to do the dishes while I cook, that way after the meal you don't have as much. Dusting, lucky if it gets done 2 -3 times a month.

I also believe that if the floor is clean under the toys then the house is clean.
