I went into labor with the oldest two weeks early four hours after we had sex. I didn't know they said sex could help induce labor at the time.
The second baby we tried everything else: castor oil, long walks, my doctor even attempted to strip my membranes. Four days after the doctors attempt I was pretty sure that wasn't going to work. I did my best to seduce my husband because I wanted to at least give that a shot. My poor husband that far into pregnancy it wasn't that comfortable for either of us but he still agreed to it. Once again exactly four hours later I went into official labor. I know that I was already contracting at that point but I wasn't feeling them. When the doctor attempted to induce me he even pointed at my belly and said I was having one right then but even still I was only 1 cm dilated. So yes I know my body was already starting the process of getting ready but I am convinced that the sex helped move things along faster. I'm sure not everyone is going to agree with me but it worked both times for me and if we do ever have another baby I will be using that method again.

When I was pregnant I walked A LOT! Also, the lamase instructor told me to sit on one of those big yoga balls and just rock my hips around. Apparently this helps the baby get into position for birth. I did that while I was just sitting watching TV and I ended up going into labor six days early.

LOL girl I tried them all and still went 2 weeks over! I tryed castor oil sold at the pharmacy, sitting on top the washer, riding a bumpy road, lunges, ate 3 hallipino pepers, rocked and had sex nothing worked for me so I would have to say GOD knows what he is doing!
I thought sitting on the washer was for something a little more recreational? ;D

Stimulate your nipples, worked for me with my last 2 kids, it will take a while for the contractions to kick in but once they start don't stop.

Most at-home labor inducers take awhile. You have to be doing them for a few days or even weeks. They only help move things along. They only send you into labor when your body and the baby are ready for it.
I did everything in the book for a week and only dilated 2 cm and 50% effaced in that time frame. Every evening we went on a long walk, where we stopped by a park so I could swing on the swing. Then after the long walk, I would pop 2 evening primrose oil capsules in next to my cervix and hop into a hot bubble bath. While in the bath tub, I sipped my raspberry leaf tea and stimulated my nipples. After the bath was my hubby's turn to help in the labor inducing process.
In the end I still had to be induced at the hospital. This time around I plan to start the techniques @ 37 weeks instead of 40.

Citrus or tbsp of Castor Oil! I had been dialated bout 3 cm for a week or two...went home after work one night and made some frozen OJ. Drank 3 big glasses, gulp gulp gulp, by about 7 a.m. i was having tiny contractions (but didnt realize thats what they were until later!) Then took the castor oil and my little boy was here by 7 p.m. that night! I cant be sure, of course, they really worked or if my decision to have this baby now was purely coincidal with nature! Good luck!

It might sound weird. But the day before I had my son, I went with a friend to Wal-mart and waddled around the store for like 2 hours. The next morning I woke up and my water broke and was in labour and had him that night!

Good luck! I was dilated to a 3 at my appt the week prior w/ my daughter. I went into labor at 39 weeks. W/in 3-4 hours before going into labor I had sex twice and stimulated my nipples. Nothing fun, kept trying to keep myself awake to keep doing it-lol. Low and behold I woke to some very intense contractions and less than 5 hours later she was born. But a BIG flip side to that was my DS. I did the nip stimulation and sex at 37 weeks preggo. It started some intense contractions and I thought for sure he'd be born that night. ALl it did was give me about an hours worth of contractions a day for about 2 1/2 more weeks!!!! I guess if anything it helped me dialate more?!? I got so deperate w/ him that I would have sex, stimulate my nips, sit on the bed in squat position drinking raspberry tea and pushing on labor inducing pressure points (he was HUGE, it was August and I had pregnancy induced carpel tunnel-I was quite miserable). I gave up soon before my 39 1/2 week appt and I was dilated to almost a 4, 60% effaced or so. We schedule inductin for Wednesday (2 days later) and that afternoon my contractions picked up w/ intensity and consistency. he was born at 9:35 the next morning. So what i swore worked w/ my daughter so was not the case for him! I had read once that labor gets triggered by something in the babies brain (I know-you so don't wnat to hear that!), but good luck trying. SOme stuff can be fun ;-)

i used a breast pump stimulation causes your womb to contract and take contractions and had a bath in aromatherpy oil clary sage and massaged it on my tummy and a was in labour 4 hours later. I have used this method 3 times and it works like a charm oh and forget castor oil it is vile the most disgusting thing ever and it is so dangerouse for the baby.

I enjoyed my first glass of wine since I found out I was pregnant at around 2 and I went into labor at 6:13. Best of all I was relaxed!
I've heard that this works cause it relaxes you enough for your cervix to ripen. And it is late enough in your pregnancy that it shouldn't hurt the baby.

DONT DO CASTOR OIL!!!!!!! it cleans you out yes and may start contractions to make you go into labor.... but it can cause the baby to have a bowel movement inside you, and thats not good at all.. just go for long walks, it helps or sex and lots of it....:)

Have u tried Evening Primrose Oil? It comes in little gel caps and u put it next to ur cervix before you go to bed at night. It helps to ripen the cervix. Most at home labor inducers don't work if your cervix isn't ripening. Also drink the Raspberry leaf tea, Swing on a swing (same concept as driving down a bumpy road, but less pain full!), Long walks, Sex (for the orgasm...it causes contractions), Nipple stimulation (or if you have a bread pump you could use that. The suction causes uterus contractions, which is why breastfeeding help you recover faster from pregnancy), and a nice hot bath. I know you aren't allowed to take them the rest of the pregnancy, but I got the ok from my Doc at the very end. He said the relaxation helps your cervix ripen.
You can try laxatives, but I wouldn't suggest it. I know friends that it worked for. However if your cervix isn't ripening yet, you will just spend a lot of time on the toilet and still not go into labor.

With my youngest I was in the same boat. She just didn't want to come out. So I tried the Castor Oil thing. It has the worst taste ever, even though it was supposed to be tasteless, so I mixed it with my morning oatmeal. I ws in Labor not even 12 hours later and the labor was a breeze!!

No home remedy is going to work if your body isn't ready. Pretty much all of them, castor oil, red raspberry tea, primrose oil, walking, spicy food etc. can help you with the process, but in the end, your body is the one that makes the call. Even sex (semen is a natural cervix ripening agent) can only help if your cervix is ready to go. In the end, all the natural home inducing remedies only go so far. Good luck and know baby will be here soon (and normal is 37-42 weeks, no matter how much we want them evicted...) :)
Agree with Brenda......

Not 100% sure if it was THAT that got me going, but something sure did!

try having sex. it worked for me... but the way it works or supposely works. the man has to ejaculate in you for your cervix to have effect to work. something to do with the sperm has an chemical in it to help in late pregnancy. if its true i don't know. but worth the shot

I went into labor the day after the shopping trip. But I really think that it's up to your baby...she/he will come out when they're good and ready (stubborn little things!).
