Anyone having problems with their Mirena???

I had the mirena for 6 months. After bleeding non stop for five months I had it removed. Prior to the Mirena I was twice impregnated while taking the pill. Since I already had three children my husband and I decided to opt for a tubal. I know they always recommend that the male have the procedure but my hubby is allergic to anesthesia. My procedure was laproscopic and I was healed and back to normal within a couple days.

hi everyone,
ive had the mirena for about 2 years now, ever since ive had it problems keep coming. ive always been healthy, thin, and active. now that ive had the mirena i've gained alot of weight and i've never been able to lose it, i have kidney stones on and off and let me tell you it is so pain full, i also have a cyst on each ovaries. i also had my gall bladder taken out october 2012. i just recently started to get chest pains, to the point where i cant move. i work at Tyson and all we do is move and lift things all day for 8 hours. when i do these things all the pain hits me at once and it hurts so bad. like i said ive never had any problems health wise until i had this put in.

I've had mine for about 2yrs. and I haven't really had any major problems. The only thing I have a worry about is not being able to feel the string. I think I may need to check it out.

I had Mirena put in about two years ago just before winter. About three weeks after I got it I was outside shoveling, and if started to come out. It was horribly painful and it had to be ully removed. I was really disappointed. My doctor was not happy with it either and put in the Paragard which is the 10 year IUC that works the same way. I have had that for almost 2 years now and have not had one problem. Also,when the issues came up with Mirena, I made them give me a full refund since it was such a problem.

hi yes it can be, i had the same problems and i eventually just went for a sterilisation. you can still have kids (inseminated) but i am soo much happier. you still have your period with a sterilisation but all the tablets, the birth controll is not a issue any more. it is acctually quite nice not to worry about all that anymore.

I have had my Mirena since August '09 so almost 4 months. I went the first 2 months without bleeding then for the last 2 months I'll spot every 2 1/2 to 3 weeks on average...maybe a little in between. But it's not enough for a pad...all i need is a lightday during the day. It's annoying that one day I will bleed then the next day not for a while. I only bleed during certain hours. It's like 10 a.m to midnight that I bleed not after or before...but I can't take any birth control other than the mirena, depo, or the implanon b/c of my hypersensitivity to estrogen. And with the wires just get them trimmed. Mine is short enough my husband doesnt' feel poking and i have him check to make sure its still there every now and then.

I've had mine in for 6 months now and had bleeding through pretty much the whole 6 months. I'm getting really annoyed with it! I've also had cramps off and on through out the whole time. I use to have 3 day periods every month with one day of cramps and this just plain sucks!

IVE HADE MINE IN FOR BOUT 7 MTHS AND I NEVER HAD ANY PROBLEMS. IF ANYTHING IT MADE MY PERIODS SHORTER AND LIGHTER. I BARELY CRAMP AT ALL ANYMORE.

Thanks everyone for your information, I did go see a doctor today, she said that I need to either remove it and switch to another form of birth control or that i could put another one in to make sure the first one isn't in wrong or something like that. But there is a possibility that Mirena just isn't right for me, I sure wish it would have worked out cause my sister loves hers and I want to too! Thanks everyone!

I've had no problems, had mine put in St. Patty's day of 08. No periods, pain or anything. It's sucks that it's not working for you. I love mine. If it's causing a lot of problems, I would just have it removed and switch to some other form of birth control. Good luck!!

I had mine for almost 3 yrs. no bleeding at all. The nain problem I had was severe craming so bad I couldn't walk. Best thing I ever did was have it removed things are so much better now. I would see my doc asap.

Some people dont bleed with their mirenas and some do. I have 3 periods a year with mine, and they are light and easy. If the bleeding is really a problem for you and you cant even have sex with it, remove it. Its crummy that it doesnt work for you, it really is a good form of contraception.

Yes, I have had the same problems. I'm so done with this thing. I think that it's fantasic if it works right. My body clearly isn't liking it at all and it's been in for almost 2 years now. But my husband and I have done some major extensive talking for a long time and we've decided that I going to get the Essure done. We are very happy with our 2 girls and don't really want any more kids so I'm very excited to have that done. I'd talk to your doctor and have it removed. I'm sure you'll be able to find the right kind of birth control for you!

I've had mine since Dec 16 2009. So almost a month. I've been bleeding ever since it was put in. I also swear I've had slight cramping almost daily since it was put in which I wasn't expecting. I chose Mirena because you are likely to stop bleeding all together after having it in place awhile. I always had heavy periods that lasted at least 7 days so this was like a dream come true lol. I hope it works out for me.

I have had my mirena in since August of 07'. I haven't had any bleeding, but the strings were too long and I had to have them trimmed and every once in a while I feel like I am being poked by something- especially when I sit down or stretch my stomach muscles. I have gone back to the doctor, but they said everything looked fine. I'm still debating whether to have it removed or keep it?

i am on my 2nd mirena. the first i had for 2 years and had no problems with it what so ever. I have had this one for 2.5 months. i have had irregular bleeding since i got it. a little annoying, but not problematic. most of the time i do not need a pad. have not had a real period since ive had it. i was told to wait out the irregular bleeding for 3 months. so i wait. really hope it works out. my only other option would be essure, and i do not know if i am *really* ready to be sterile.

I've had mine for almost two years and have had absolutely no problems with it. I'm pretty sure it's just one of those things where you either have to wait it out and see if it gets better after your body gets used to the hormones or just switch to a different kind of birth control. The merina has worked awesome for me but all the problems you've all said I had with the depo shot.

I had mine for about 6 mths the same thing happened to me and i just went to my doctor and got it taken out. Because I was having so much in my stomach.

i went a whole year with out bleeding but now i bleed every month. plus my husnband says he doesnt feel it any more so im a little afraid it some how is gone. i need to get it checked out for sure.

Ive had mine for about 9 1/2 months now. My periods are really screwed up.I'll bleed one day,and the next I dont. Its really irritating.Ive gone 3 months without having my period,and then having one for nearly a month straight. Its really really irritating,but Im not sure wether it can be resolved or not. I havent had any other problems with mine besides bleeding.

I've had mine for a little over a year as well and I'm having the same problems, and then some. Weight gain, acne, whatever could possibly go wrong is happening. I don't know if there's anything that can be done but I would go back and have the wirey strings trimmed. I've had mine trimmed again and the hubby still says its pokes. I'm having mine removed soon though so...
