My daughter Shiloh is 13 months old and only has three teeth! I keep reading that they usually have six by one year old. What is up with that? Has anyone else had a late bloomer like my lil ShiBaby?

my son had 8 teeth - 4 on the top, 4 on the bottom. :) I was a late bloomer - my teeth always fell out later than everyone elses, too - and was told as a kid that my teeth would be stronger because of that. Not sure how accurate that is, but if it makes you feel better!! Ever kid is different, my friend's daughter got her 4 bottom teeth at about 4 months followed by her other 4 on the bottome She was breastfeeding, so not exactly fantastically happy about that, LOL! :)

My son who is now four had 10 teeth by the time he was 12 months. My daughter who is now two had 3 teeth by the time she was 12 months. She is still slowly getting her teeth and I mean slowly. We've seen a dentist and the dentist said it's probably just because her mouth is still pretty small and she doesn't have the room to get all of her teeth yet. Don't be alarmed. Don't fret. And don't believe all of the statistics you read. You'll go crazy!

My first born didn't cut her FIRST tooth until she was 13months old. Every child works on their own schedule. She's 7 now and she's only lost 2 of her baby teeth. I've heard that the later they get their teeth the later they will lose their teeth for adult teeth. Either way she'll get them when she's ready.

My first boy had almost all of his teeth by 1 year, but my second only had 2-3. He was very slow in getting his, but each child is different. Don't worry about it...it is frustrating not being able to feed them as much, but it will happen eventually and everything will work out for you!

When Ja-neir turned a yr old, she had four teeth in her mouth. It took a few more months for her to slowly get the others, which didn't hamper her appetite one bit. don't worry about how long it takes once your child isn't bothered by it why should you?

At one my daughter Ryleigh had one tooth and didn't get anymore until she was 13 months. So at 13 months she had 2. They say the later they come in the better it is. Now she is 27 months and has them all even her 2 year old molars.

My daughter Zoey has had 9 teeth since she was 8 months old... she is now 12 months and hasn't cut a tooth since... she cut 2 at 3 months and 7 at 8 months.... she does them in phases and a bunch at once.... all kids are different... As long as Shiloh is eating well and developing/thriving I wouldn't worry too much but ask her Doc at her next appt. if you are concerned... One of my friends son got his 1st tooth on his birthday and then didn't get another till he was 14 months so... hopefully these comments reassured you somewhat... Take Care :)

I had one kid get his first teeth around 6 months and another didn't get her first until she was about a year. You have to remember that boys develop quicker physically and that includes teeth.

Hello Renee,

I have heard that it is not uncommon for some babies to get their teeth a little later then others just like some babies get teeth sooner then others. My daughter was an early bloomer. She cut her first 2 teeth at 3 months, teeth 3-8 between 6-7 months (literally had 6 teeth come in within 1 week from the start of tooth #3) and then by the time she was 12 months she cut 4 molars. She is now 15 months and is working on cutting teeth 13 and 14. Our doctor was shocked that she had a full mouth of teeth by the time she was 1.

Every baby is different and will develope at their own pace. I would not worry too much unless the doctor feels that there is something to worry about.

Sincerely,

Katie

Don't worry, all kids develop their teeth at different times. Your baby may have a ton of them come in all at once. A friend of mine has a child that may not get teeth - he is over 18 months old and doesn't have a single one yet, but they won't do the x-rays yet to find out if there are teeth under his gums until he is 2. If they aren't worried until age 2, there must be some kids who get their teeth really late.

My daughter didn't get any teeth until she was 13 months old. The dentist told me that this was actually good because it meant she was likely to get less cavities. Plus it's good news for a nursing mom! :o)

My son Donovan had all of his teeth by the time he was 1 but the pain he went through was absolutely horrible, he would wake up in the middle of the night because his mouth hurt, he had no less then 4 teeth grow in at a time and it was hard on him and hurt me because he was in pain. so your daughters teeth coming in slow may be a good thing

I dont think there is anything wrong with the teeth business. my oldest is twelve when he was one he had four my daughter only had two and their little brother had six so it definitely varies with kids.

My son is just shy of 11 months and he only has four teeth, two of which just cut through. I feel like he's a little behind other kids his age on teeth, but he's meeting all of his milestones and, to me, that's more important.

Oceanne had 6 teeth by her 1st birthday. She's currently having another 3 coming out. DOn't worry about her teething, my little niece only had 2 tiny ones coming out and she's 11 months, but she's already running and my little one who's 14 months has only just found her confidence to let go and try to take her first steps. I bet your little one is already running.

My little man had 16 teeth when he was one. A little girl a couple months older was like your daughter though, she only had 3 for the longest time. I have heard that girls teeth usually come in a little later. Dont be concerned, they will come when they are ready. With babies, nothing is by the book

Don't worry about it!!! I have 5 kids and they have all been different.

One of mine didn't have any teeth at 13 months, she then got her top two first and didn't get her 2 year old molars til 4!! She was at the dental nurse this week and her teeth are absolutely fine, the only thing she said was when they get them late they usually lose them later. (she is 6 and hasn't got any wiggly ones yet!)

The only issue i found was that she struggled to eat meat that wasn't minced up. I just had to make sure she was getting enough iron other ways.

My 5th baby is 14 months and he has 6, but no sign of anymore coming at the moment.
