My son was 4 1/2 months old. We started with just one meal a day usually just a couple of spoonfuls. He didn't like rice cereal or fruit, but pumpkin then sweet potato were big hits.
He wasn't gaining a lot of weight and was wanting to be breastfed every 2 hours day and night so the dr's said it was time to start. We were also told it was better to start before 6month as it will decrease the chance of allergies.

my daughter started at 3 months as she was still hungry after feeding and she also as chronic reflux which didn't help but starting her on baby food she started to gain weight like she should have been. we started her on a rice cereal at first.

i started at 6 months witch the docs recommended my mother says it has something to do with the stomach as well to wait as long but as the other ladies have said id check with doc too another thing if you've read any baby books they all say....when they start reaching for the food when u are eating is a good sign THEY are ready :)

i think you should start introducing them to solids when THEY are ready and start showing interest :)..i started my daughter on farax when she was around 6months of age...i breastfed and i found that i had excellent milk that kept her satisfied :)

I started introducing my baby to solids when she was turning 4 months. I started with rice cearel once a day, as time went by I gave it to her twice a day. I started with 1 desert spoon. Later I introduced her to purity in the morning and rice cearel in the evening. I gave her 1 flavour per week, just to check if she is not alergic to any food. Now I am back at work and she has just turned four months and now she can eat her purity, rice cearel, and have her milk.

I started feeding my son farx at 4 months. the Dr's nurses etc will tell you to wait until 6 months....
What I have been told and this is what I followed. When your baby starts showing signs of wanting more and the bottle is not enough. Nicholas my boy was having bottle every 3-4 hours and then at 4 months he wanted feeding every 2 hours... so I started to introduce farex as his first solid. I put a small teaspoon in his night bottle before he would go for his big sleep, the farex thickes up the milk so I had to get soe fast flow teets to help it flow thru. after a few weeks I introuced a bowl of farex in the mid-morning & continued the farex bottle at night. from there we moved to a night meal (dinner) mashed potato, apples, pears.
When I introduced a new solid I would give him that for the week then tried a new solid and about 3 weeks after a week of the same solid I started mixing it up a bit. I did it this way to make sure if he had an allergy to any foods it would be easier to determine what the food cause was.
Hope this helps

We started at 4 months ( my son is a very BIG eater and milk just wasnt cutting it anymore), it is recommended to start at 6 b/c of food allergies, your baby will let you know when they are ready, talk to your doctor and see what they suggest. You could try cereal ( SPOON FEEDING DO NOT MIX IN BOTTLE) or veggies, ( one at a time) if your child pushes it out then they are not ready usually if they can sit up and seem interested and are able to keep the food in they are probably ready for solids.
