With my first two children I don't remember. My one year old was only taking a sippy cup at around 7 and a half months. She only likes the ones with the plastic spout. She refuses to drink out of the ones with the harder ones.

you can introduce it as early as six months. the daughter wouldn't drink out of a sippy until i put formula in it..so for the month or so before her first birthday i started giving her one sippy a day...then two..and so on..and she was completely off the bottle the day of her first birthday. with my nephew, a week before his birthday, we just threw away all his bottles and gave him a sippy instead and he honestly didn't care to know the difference because he's a fatty.

I gave my daughter her 1st sippy cup at 6months, she didn't take to it, so I tried it again with a different sippy a few months later..she was off the bottle before she was 10months old.

i started giving the sippy cup to my son when he was 6 months for juice and water, but he still had his bottle for his bedtime and at 15 months we removed the bottle for his bedtime and there was no probleme he never asked for a bottle again.

My son weened himself off the bottle and to tippy's around 7 months. He simply wouldn't take a bottle anymore so tippy's it was. He's done great with them and just recently started using the straw cups. Good luck and be glad that your baby is transitioning so nicely! Not everyone gets that lucky.

my daughter will be 2 in october, and she didnt start on a sippy cup until a few months ago, that being said, she was transitioned from bottle to one of those cups with the flip up straws when she was 11months old. she never likes the sippy cups when she was smaller

We waited till a week after her first birthday; we went on vacation to the beach and didn't take any with us. She stayed so busy that she was too tired to care about a bottle. After we came back guess she just forgot all about it.

Neither of my girls ever took a bottle. I always gave them a sippy when they started drinking juice and water. I breastfed them and when I attempted to give anything in a bottle they both refused. I just figured it was easier to just start with a sippy and then I never had to wean them off of a bottle.

My little turkey didn't give up the bottle completely until he was 16 months old. At 16 months he was pretty much only having a bedtime bottle. I finally found a sippy cup that he loved (the straw type) & we haven't used bottles since.

We tried the Nuby soft top sippys around 10 months but our son was not interested. A week before he turned 1 year we went for a walk and only took the Nuby sippy cup. He refused it at first, then he go so thirsty that he decided it was better than nothing. From that day we never went back to a bottle. Now we use big boy cups with no lids, unless we are in the car.

My son was 10 months when I took his bottle away and gave him his cuppie. At bed time he got the bottle til he was about a month or two. He's 16 months now and only uses the cuppie and can drink out of a straw.

I breastfed mostly, but did pump. Once my daughter hit the 6 month mark she didn't get even pumped milk in a bottle, it was all in a sippy. She never had water in a bottle (I figured why start a bad habit).

She's now 19 months and drinks from a regular cup during meals. She's still learning not to spill, but she's getting there.

I always thought that if the chld was introduced to a sippy and did well without the bottle then just go with the sippy, its easier to use a sippy cup then have to break the habit of a bottle. but thye say that def. by a yr they should be off the bottle for there teeth. my daughter was about 8 or 9 mo. when she stopped with bottles :-)

i introduced the sippy cup around 6/7 months. broke him from the bottle completely a week before his first bday. i think most peds say they should be bottle broken around 1.

With my daughter Triniti she actually disliked the bottle and didn't want anything to do with it around about the same as your daughter around 8 months or so .. my son he loved his bottle for some odd reason but right when he turned 1 on his bday actually we had alot of gifts of sippy cups and threw away each bottle and just gave him the sippy cup and surprisingly he adjusted alot better then I had thought he would. Same with the crib, not exactly at a year * and of course I waited for the right signs they were ready for a " big boy/girl bed " and then changed them right off with that.

I started my son on a sippy cup when he started eating solid food, about 5 months. He still drinks from a bottle for formula, or breast milk, but he's got the hang of the sippy cup down. I'll give a sippy cup of water to him during all his meals. He's 9 1/2 months now

We started a sippy cup when my daughter was getting close to two years old. She transitioned with some resistance, but I just kept the cup out and now she drinks out of it all day except before bed I still give her a bottle. But I'm starting to wean that off as well as well since she is clearly old enough.

when my daughter was 5 months we started on a sippy for juice and water and kept the formula in a bottle. her first birthday she was a pro at the cup and we jsut thru away all the bottles and the formula at the same time. she has been all sippy and whole foods since her 1st birthday! also we never used the soft spout because we felt it was too much like a bottle, and as she got older she would push the nipple in.

The day my son turned a year old we took all the bottles out of the house and gave him the sippy cups with the soft tip. It still felt somewhat like a bottle to him but the container itself was not a bottle. Then when he was about a year and a half we switched to the sippy cups with the hard tip. By the time he was 2 he was able to drink without a sippy style top.

my son started a sippy cup around 9 months and did NOT like it. it took me until he was fifteen months old before i finally got him off the bottle completely. my daughter on the other hand, started taking a sippy cup at nine months. a soft spout one. and at 11 months, she threw away her bottle on her own. i had to put her fomula in a sippy cup, because she REFUSED to take a bottle. which worked for me lol. but thats okay because i got to go right back in to the bottle stage with my third baby, who was born less than a year after his sister. he four months now, and i'll probebly try to give him a sippy cup around 9 months.

my oldest started drinking out of a sippy cup around 7 months .. by the time she was 9 months she only drank out of it during the day and would have a bottle before bed .... this lasted til she was about 13 months and just before the 13 month stage she switched to just sippy cups... my youngest on the other hand didnt get the hang of a sippy at all til she was over 12 months and was using a bottle til she was about 15 months then she finally got the hang of sippy's and stopped using a bottle around the same time
