National Woman Day. March 8th 2012. Baby Blues can be mild to moderate, Post Partem/Natal Depression can be moderate to severe. Thyroid Conditions are the MOST over looked & under-diagnosed conditions that G.P,s throuout the country FAIL to Diagnose, This is NOT thier fault. Laboritory tests ARE improoving ALL the time. As searching, researching & updating {Lab-referance-ranges} MORE people are being Diagnosed CORRECTLY, this has'nt always been the way. Berore these New {ref/ranges} Women went on for YEARS not knowing what on earth was wrong with them, some being put on Anti-depressants, some being admitted to Mother & Baby Units, when they just could'nt cope any more. Some labelled wrongly, some dismissed, & some concidered a Hypochondriac by thier G.P,s. Thankfully this ALL has changed, Before babies 1st Birthday, you should have several blood tests, including a {Thyroid Function Test.} If YOU know your familys health history, then don't be frightened to ASK your G.P about Thyroid Conditions. It can be inherited. Your Dentist will hopefully inform you of any concerns He/She may have re : your health, your optician is also good at detecting health conditions. Generally, If in doudt, check it out.

Thank you for this post. My question is what if you already have a diagnosed Thyroid problem? I have had a Thyroid problem for 14 years and it has made is very very hard to conceive but we are still trying. I normally get my levels checked every year, what are the suggestions during and after a pregnancy??
