i just had a son two months ago we plan to have 4 kids all together but for the first two i have always said then i want to wait until he is in school i want to enjoy everything he does as he develops because once the second one comes you cant spend all that time watch them as they grow because you have the two to look after.... as he is a boy as well as hes older he will be protective of my others and will be there rock as well and me and there dad.....

We wanted our children close together. Our little girl is 20months now and we're still trying. I have a brother who's four and their age gap is great, they get on so well and Shayla has learnt alot from him. I think two years is a great age gap. It gives you time to spend with your first child and they're old enough to 'help' when the new baby comes.

Mine are 18 months apart! We didn't aim for such the close age gap becasue we thought it would take me a little longer to concieve(I got pregnant the first month off contraception) but wouldn't change it for anything! They are now 4 and 2 1/2 and love each other so much and are best friends. They do fight but take up for each other too! It's so sweet to just peek around the corner when they are playing and watch how they are when they think I'm in the other room! Sometimes you just can't plan the exact gap between them we you want to so bad but I'd just say, whenever it happens it will be right for you! I was so scared at first but now can't imagine it any other way!

I too thought I would want my babies to be close in age, but after having Sebastian, I've decided I want to spend as much time with him as possible before having another. Yet not to have the age gap tooo far that they cannot play together. I agree with Jill that 2 years would be suffice, but I may aim for 3 years in between, I would like for the first to be a little independant before having another. Just wait and see what feels right for you. I figure once I start to miss having a baby in the house, I'll start to try for another, and that won't be any time soon. Sebastian is 5 months old

Just to give an answer from the other side of the spectrum. My son is 2-1/2 and we have no immediate plans to have another. I always thought I'd have two but felt complete with one. My best friend has a son who is 5 and is just starting to try for her 2nd because she just started feeling the urge for another about 6 months ago.

Basically I was overwhelmed with motherhood with one son and couldn't imagine also having an infant and still can't. If you find yourself in my position then don't rush it. Do what you feel in your heart is right - there is no wrong answer here.

thats good Katrina enjoy being a mum and focus on your son for now. ive been told close together is very hard when they are little but when ur older you'll thank yourself for it. good luck x

We wanted 2 kids, and wanted them to be close together. More for our lifestyle (we are very outdoorsy people) and work issues. My son will be 14 and a half months to the day if this baby is arrives on the due date.

I can't say if it will be good or not until after September! I know it will be hard, but in the long run, I am glad it worked out the way we wanted.

Hi,I also think 2 years is great...my 3 happened that way unintentionally,lol. Growing up with my sister only 19 mnths apart was really good as we were best mates and still are today.

well we started ttc when my daughter was one and i fell pregnant not long after that.
So my second daughter was born when my first was 2 years and 1 week old!
I personally think its a fantastic age gap, not to close but not to far apart! and the bonus is they love playing with each other!

LOL yes i know what you mean! Fingers crossed you are pregnant in the next month or so..........! I think i will enjoy my little man foe awhile then start trying this time next year :)

it took exactly 2 years for my girl my partner and i have no actually fertility problems but my muscles are "tight" as the physio describes so its hard for it to get where its supposed to go if ya know what i mean lol. im hoping it will happen within the next 6 months :)

ive found that alot of my friends are starting trying when baby turns 1. i want about a 2 year gap as well except i have problems conceiving so went off contraceptives when ours was 5 months. shes 13 months now and still waiting to fall pregnant.

hey Katrina, i have just had my second, my first is 20months and he loves his new brother. i think about 2 years is a good gap and as long as you let the older child help cause they like to help then there won't be any problems. Ethan loves to help me with his brother, he gets things for me and loves to cuddle and kiss his little brother.

Hey Katrina. My little girl Olivia is almost 10 months and ever since she was 4 months I've wanted to start trying again. Hubby wanted to wait (I guess I need to wait a little longer) until she was closer to two also, but we have talked about it a lot lately and decided we would start trying again this month. We both want a big family and I don't want to be in my late 30 or early 40 having babies. I guess it's really just up to you and your husband. I think everyone is different.
