For fun table decorations my friend once covered  oasis balls (the foam stuff for flower arranging) with tin foil/pink and white material and stuck small packs of sweets to them.  The oasis balls can be easily made into tree like decorations by skewering some kind of wooden stick (lollipop sticks) into them and securing it all in one of those small plant pots (painted pink of course). I think you can also buy these ready done but prob cheaper to make own!

Peronalised invitations in thepink and white theme would also add a personal touch

Pink lemonade for the kids pink champagne for the grown ups

Pink and white polka dot chair for the guest of honour to sit on with balloons attached

They aren't big participants in the party so just let them be themselves!  The 1st birthday party is more for you so do what you want and let the birthday girl be herself!

My son just turned one and we had someone make a cake in the theme that we had. It was music so for his smash cake they made a tamborine. We also had someone come and make balloon animals and do face painting. I also made home made chocolate play dough. You could easily make polka dot into pink and white lady bugs. Those are really cute for girls. You could make your own invitations. Make one use a high resolution scanner, scan it and then print the others on 4 x6 photo paper. It saves money because people will just throw them away and then you'll have the nice one for her scrapbook.

For the cake, you could drop pink food coloring into the batter after you get it into the pan to get a polka dot effect.  You could ice the cake with the white icing of your choice (cream cheese icing would work great) and then either add the pink coloring to that and pipe dots or cut various sized circles out of pink fondat and place them all over the cake.

Other ideas:  pink tablecloth with white plates, float pink and white candles in fishbowls filled with water (you could dye the water to be pink).

I like the M&M idea too.

An idea I got from another mom that I didn't have time to use was: she took baby food jars and filled them with pink and white M&Ms and decorated the lids (you could paint polka dots) and then tied the balloons to them and put them on the table. It looked awesome and I wished I had time to do it, but I just didn't have time.

Remember to keep it simple b/c this party is mostly for the parents. You don't want to spend your life savings on this party lol. Wait until her 16th party to go all out.
