I would wait to see what/how she's planning on decorating the nursery. That way, you could incorporate some of the shower decorations that she could later use to decorate her nursery as well. Have fun!

One of my favorite games that My husband and I played on our baby shower was the present guessing game. Towards the end of the party the newly parents had to guess who gave them the present. If the person opening the present was right you moved on the the next present/ or you can spice it up and My husband and I took a eyeliner and wrote on that persons face(drew a mustache or wrote something funny on their shirt) If my husband and I were wrong on guessing the person who gave you the present either they wrote on your shirt (something funny or drew on your face) it was funny.
Another fun game we played was we had a baby bottle racing drinking game. We went out and bought 4 or 5 bottles how many you would like and at the party pick out who wants to participate and you fill up the baby bottle with a juice or a mix drink and all them had to suck on the bottle until they finish the whole bottle. Whoever won, wins a prize. it was fun seeing ever bodies faces trying so hard to suck on the bottles!

Hi, at my baby shower(also had a boy), we played baby bingo(bought it at the dollar store lol), also made a baby word unscrambler game, and we got a diaper and spread mustard and melted chocolate into it to make it look like a dirty diaper, stuck it under the chair, and who ever found it at the end got a prize :D, It was fun!! if you go on google and type in *baby shower games* you can get lots of funny/great games. One i really wanted was *Pin the sperm on the egg* but i got told i was crazy lol! for themes, you can do blues and greens, or if she is going to have a special bedroom theme, try and get some things for that theme :D

I had a diaper cake at my baby shower, and I honestly did not ever use it. It was a huge pain to take apart, and then to store all the diapers after they have been rolled up is just a pain. My boyfriend did NOT attend any of the baby showers, but he did have a diaper party. For the guys, you could have them do that idea. They all bring a pack of diapers and then there is food and a keg of beer for them. Also, at my baby shower we did a diaper raffle. One big prize and anyone who brought diapers or wipes got an entry into the drawing and we had the biggest prize go to the winner of that (we ended up putting everyone in the drawing since a couple people brought diapers as their gift) We did not have to buy diapers for about 5 months since people brought all different sizes. It was wonderful.

jungle theme!!!!! games like scooping cotton balls onto a flat plate on your head while blindfolded...baby facts questioneer (ie...what was the first bottled baby food, how many bones are babies born with), have a competition with the girls and have them play a game of hanging baby clothes with one hand while you hold a baby with the other...when they get to the party have specially made wish cards where they can jot down their wishes and/or their advice for the new mom to be, then give those to the mom in a scrapbook for a keepsake...if you do the diaper cake, have the guest guess how many diapers were used in the making of the cake and then hand out a price for the one with the closest guess....I did a game of "guess what's in the paper bag"...you get those paper bags put things like a washcloth, diaper, bottle nipple, nail clippers, etc. inside...you staple the bag shut and put a number infront, pass the bags around telling them not to open to feel and guess what's inside!!

The one game that has alway's stood out to me as being the most fun & funny to watch is the "Diaper Surprise " game. All you do it get 5-6 diaper's, buy 5-6 different candy bar's (1 Candy Bar per Diaper) ....melt the candy bars in the Microwave, just enough to get good & soft...then smear one candy bar in each diaper...get where I am going with this? lol..After each candy bar in smeared in the proper place (hahaha) in the Diaper....get 5-6 players (don't tell them what their doing yet)...hand each player a Diaper & tell them they have to eat what's in the diaper & guess what kind of candy bar it is. The 1st to yell it out & have the correct answer wins! Be sure to number each diaper & put what kind of candy bar it is on a piece of paper so the one "hosting" this game can know they yelled out the right candy bar for that particular diaper. The look's on people's face's when you give directions on how to play this game are priceless.The pictures are worth a thousand words! :0)

At my last baby shower, my Mom did the diaper game where you fill diapers with different baby foods then pass them around and have people write down what they think it is. Then at the end, you tally up the scores and the person with the most gets the prize. Or have people guess the date of conception, if the mother knows it, and give condoms as a prize!! Also the one that I loved was, she took little plastic babies and put them into icecubes, then passed everyone a drink. The persons baby who broke free of the ice first has to yell out, "My water broke!!!" LOL Hope this helps and you have as much fun as we did!!

Here is a game I have played at a baby shower before. It sounds silly..but it is actually pretty hard for some. You get a bunch of colorful cloth pins (like you use to hang clothes on a laundry line outside). When the guest come in, you give them say 5 or 6 pins. Whatever the case, everyone has the same number of clothes pins and they somehow attach the pins to they clothes. Then you pick a word that is commonly used when talking about having a child. The one I have always seen used is "baby." You tell everyone the word and that if anyone hears them say the word during the event, they get to take one of their pins. Whoever has the most pins at the end of the baby shower wins a prize. Another game that I have seen is one that is very inexpensive. You get a roll of toilet paper and everyone at the shower has to guess how much toilet paper it will take to go around the honoree's belly. Everyone tears off how ever much they think is needed to go around the honoree's belly and who ever is closest wins a prize.

THere is this awesome store that you have to check out... it's on Dundas near highbury called fill in the blanks that is soo super cute. They make custom made baby items that you can embroider anything from logo's to names swaddling blankets.. it's perfect and unique... I like going on Saturdays and talking to a lady named Wendy...

Ive brought some scratch and win cards that are designed for baby showers, Kinda like scratchies lol, And doing the baby food guessing game, Doing a-z baby boy names and guess the nursery rhyme and how big is mum but not to sure about that one as she will only be 26 weeks, so might be a bit to tiny to lol and a couple of others that ppl have suggested, just got go through this thread and write all the games down, my partner is being really helpful aswell

@Darci, i think you're thinking of dowels lol it is definately better to make one of those 'cakes' than buy it.
as for games, at my shower, we had a bunch of balloons filled up with helium(or air) and each one had a little tag inside with a name on it, and one balloon must have the chosen name of your baby-to-be. Everyone has to pop their balloons, and whoever has the baby's name is the winner. Of course this only works if you have the name picked out already. Theres the famous "Don't cross your legs" game also. Another we did was Guess The Belly, where everyone has to guess how big mom has gotten, and the closest wins, or you can make it exact... Another fave I've heard of is baby bingo. That one seems to be a winner.... Good luck planning the shower! :)

My aunt made me a diaper cake in my theme of winnie the pooh and a game that everyone enjoy was, she had safety pins hidden in a container of rice and let guests take turns blindfolded trying to see how many pins they can find and then she ask me a couple questions about my pregnancy, due date, things I may have told people and then try to see who could guess the answers.

We are doing blue and teal butterflies. It makes it "baby" without being girly or cheesy since boys are hard. We're also doing a really cute "game". We are hanging a clothes line up, and hanging all of the outfits that my sister gets for her baby, and before she starts opening, we are going to have the guests guess how many outfits she gets, and at the end whomever is closest will win something. It's not something that people have to pay close attention to and it gives everyone a chance to see all the cute outfits!

My family did a baby tower of diapers and a teddy and nuks' at the top of it ...diapers rolled with blue ribbon or wter u want ... also did a game names of baby animals .. ...you can google ideas as well as google the ones i gave u im sure they will have lots of ideas...have fun ! gd luck

there are lost of different things that you can do from a very general all "blue party" or do a themed party. The last Boy baby shower that i went to the hostess had mad a cast of the mom to be's belly and then painted it blue and had all the guests sign the belly cast which was pretty cool. they also had plenty of game to play like find the safty pins in the rice, what is the diaper (melted candy bar game), they also did the measuring of the belly and who ever guessed the closest without going over won a prize. a good web site to go for all kinds of information that that to do with anything pregnancy, baby, toddler, and kids is

My aunt put this game together where you put melted chocolate in a diaper (all different kinds, with nuts, without) and everyone gets a paper/pencil and write down which is which. You can do that same thing with baby food but keep it in the jars, cover labels so they can't cheat. Go through and see how many got them right. And their is the toilet paper game where you try to figure out how big her stomach is. Before doing this you could measure her with t.p and count how many sheets of tp goes around her. Figure out baby names using husband/boyfriends name and her name, see who gets the most unique names (go through the names with everyone, the mark off what everyone else has, whoever has the most names after wins). There is a new book out called, "Go the F*ck to sleep." It's number one on Amazon. It's written by a dad who couldn't get his kids to sleep and now he's making millions. I know the title sounds bad but the illustrations are gorgeous and it's hilarious. Check it out it would make a good gift for the right person.

heck yea! i have ltos of ideas. fun ideas that are a hit! decor: make it your gift- for instance hang a clothing line and pin up boys clothes, socks, hats, bibs on it (like a banner), center piece (diaper cake, just did a motorcycle diaper cake that was soooo cute, makes a gift as well cuz u attach bibs, burp cloths, diapers, bottles, pacifiers, and stuffed animal), theme? i always go with stars, its easy to find matching items and u can use any color to contrast with silver stars (blue, green, yellow) i like to always have balloons on the gift table and on the mailbox/ or car stating its a shower, and a boy/girl is soon to arrive)

WELL, hope this helps! i love throwing showers!
HINT, always do bottled water and a punch bowl with finger foods or snacks, (chicken salad with crackers, cherries n a bowl, and maybe a veggie tray with dips) dont go crazy. (i went to a girls shower once and it was for the guys too! and they drank BEER, i woulda been FURIUOS) :)

theme: I did for my son was Nursery rhymes a side tables full of nursery rhyme books from the local library. wrote out some rhymes decorated it. got symbols from rhymes and put them around the area we will be partying. eg row row your boat =boats roses are red =fake bunch
Games; jump into pairs and change the baby with one hand each fastest time wins,baby food tasing,crossword,pop the balloons inside is a message eg winner,jump on one foot 20x, prize,sing a nursery rhyme.

I just hosted a baby shower for my friend who is also having a little boy. One thing that I did that people seemed to really love, was I bought some blank note cards with a green and blue design on the front. I had a blue beach bucket filled with the cards and pens. Everyone who came, filled out a card with a hope and wish for the new boy and his family. We sealed them and put back into the bucket. It was presented to my friend while she was opening her gifts.

You could have everyone bring in pictures of themselves as babies and then everyone tries to guess who each one is. Put a bunch of different baby things on a tray and let everyone scan it, then take it away and see how many things each guest can remember from the tray. The items on the tray then of course goes to the mom to be. The baby food guessing game is always fun. Take the wrappers off of them all and try to guess what flavor. So many choices. Good luck!!!

Do you know what her favorite thing to do is? Does she like going to the beach, what is her favorite book, movie, song, who is her favorite actor, actress, singer, musical group base the theme on something she likes. As for games there is the game where everyone is given a clothespin and they can't say the word baby in English, sign language, or Spanish or if they know baby in any other language if they do say the word who ever heard them say it gets their clothespin and then just before the shower is over give a gift to the woman who has the most clothespins. Another fun game is have two prs of rubber gloves divide the women into 2 teams and have them race to put the rubbeer gloves on but then after they get the gloves on they have to put a clothespin on each finger of the gloves along with the thumbs whichever team wins have a small gift for each lady on the team. Another game is give each woman a piece of paper and have them come up with some unusual boy names in case she has come up with any or if she has a first name maybe she can't think of a middle name. Also if you want in the invitations ask that everyone bring a pkg of diapers and who ever brings either the most or maybe biggest pkg of diapers gets a gift card to the mall, or Target, Shopko, or Walmart.

I do her favorite animal or jungle theme Winni the Pooh bear, mine was just blue. Some of my favorite games our a platter game where you put 10 or so baby items on a platter and show them around to the guests them they have to remember and right down as many as you can in 2 or 3 minutes. Another is how big is mamma, take ribbon or string and and have the guest guess how big she is with the ribbon, closet wins. There's one with cotonballs, you get a big bowl, big spoon blindfold and cottonballs whoever can get the most in the bowl wins, no hands get to be used just the spoon. Go to Google or any search enigine and type in free baby shower games and you'll get tons of ideas.

My best friend's baby shower is next weekend :) I started out with a theme. Her fave animal is giraffe and we don't know the gender, so the colors are yellow and a milk chocolate brown. From there, the games are based on how many people will be there. If you are having a small shower, it can be "game based". For example: How big is mommy's belly (be careful of sensitive moms!!!!), how fast can you drink from a baby bottle, and how fast can you change a diaper.

For large groups, it should be more activity based. I'm making a scrapbook of well wishes so people can write things under different headings. For example: Advise for mom, advise for dad, how to keep the romance alive, etc. Another thing we are doing is having a quiz with 12 questions and whoever gets the answers wins a prize. Lastly, we are doing match the nursery rhyme game. One of them is "a fast boy that isn't afraid of fire". The rhyme is Jack be nimble, Jack be quick, Jack jumped over the candlestick! :)

I found an idea for rattle cupcakes. They were a huge hit at the shower I threw. Just get some gum drops, ribbon, cupcakes, and sucker sticks. Put a gum drop at the bottom of each stick and tie a ribbon just a little below half way down and stick the other end in the cupcake. So cute!!

For theme's anything with blue. Pick something that would be fun. Like an tropical island. Have blue pacifiers, blue bottles, a baby boy on the cake, there a ton of places you can go online and in stores like iparty for games and morethemes

I didnt have time to read through all of the ideas, so if I mention something that someone else did, sorry.
Pin the sperm on the egg, finish the nursery rhyme game, remember whats on the tray (put a bunch of baby stuff on a tray. Let everyone look at it for 60 seconds, then give them 2 min to write down what they remember), guess the weight, length, time, date of birth.
Also, you can just to a blue and white theme, that way its easier to decorate for it, I agree with the diaper cake thing as well. Will help out a lot. Also if you know a guy friend that knows the babys dad, you could try and throw a beer and diaper party. The dad invites all of his friends over to watch a game, mma fight, etc, and buys beer. In order for the guys to come watch the game and hang out they have to bring diapers. :)Good luck and have FUN!

I just through a boy shower yesterday I made blue cupcakes with yellow icing they were very cute. Another theme I have seen is a Rock concert theme and they called it Baby fest and the invites looked like concert tickets I thought it was pretty cute

1. Have a clothes line that the players need to hang baby clothes on while holding a baby doll, talking on the phone and holding a small laundry basket. Give them only a minute and whom ever hangs the most wins.
2. Dirt diaper game- put things like baby food, chocolate, hummus, est in diapers and have people guess.
3. Diapering a balloon. Use cloth diapers and pins to diaper a balloon in a short time frame.

We played a few games at my sister's baby shower that were super fun... I did NOT want to play the safety pin game (its kinda annoying) We played the baby food matching game where we had a bunch of different orange baby food (numbered) and you let the guests look at them and smell them and try to figure out which answer on their sheet matched the number on the food. another was everyone got a plain white onsie (we actually did teams of two ppl) and they decorate the onsie the best they can (we used multi colored sharpies but u can used fabric paint) and let the mommy-to-be choose her fave which would be the winner. We had a LOT of men (husbands and family) at her baby shower so we had a game just for them. We split them into two teams and had a toy that could be easily assembled the same toy... and we said start and the first team to build it correctly wins. My sis was having a girl so we used little plastic baby doll high chairs but I'm sure u could find a boy friendly toy that would work

One game that was fun to play was the pin game!! Give every guest a pin as they arrive and tell them they can't say the word baby as the shower goes on whoever catches a person saying the word gets that persons pin whoever has the most pins at the end of the shower gets a prize!! Try it was fun and hilarious because no one wanted to give up their pin!

WHEN WILL YOUR BABY BE BORN?

Find tiny plastic babies. Fill ice cube tray dimples half full and freeze. Add babies once frozen, and fill second half of tray with more water. Freeze.

Place each ice cube in a plastic shot glass, and have guests choose one and write their name as well as their guess of which hour their babies will be born!

For my baby shower it was pee pod themed, we played a game with baby food- trying to figure out what kind it was, we also played a word scrabble with his name and a match the baby to the tv mom. I did have diaper cakes for both of the shower but they came as presents
For my friends shower we did a wild animals theme, we did the baby food game too and a name the baby animal.
