Baby won't sleep during the day

I have a baby girl who's almost four months old and she won't sleep during the day. I have tried everything, I've topped her up with formula after a full breastfeed, walked her in the pram, got her to sleep in my arms then put her into bed, put her into her cot and used the pacifier to help settle her I even tried some baby rice but nothing works. She might have a couple of half hour naps but no decent sleep so by about 3pm she is really tired and grumpy but still refuses to sleep. I'm tearing my hair out....help!

Has this sleep issue been constant, or has it just developed recently? Has there been a change in her routine recently...a move, you going back to work or changing hours, etc? Any of these could cause a disruption to her sleep. Also, if she falls asleep in your arms but wakes up when you try to put her down, it could possibly be an ear infection. At about 4 months, my daughter started crying whenever I tried to lay her down...I could get her to sleep in my arms, but she'd wake up and scream the minute I tried to put her down. The fluid in her ears from the infection was causing discomfort whenever she was laid down. Something to look into if things don't get any better. I hope it works out for you!

i would suggest investing in a swing or something that vibrates the baby. movement helps sooth the nerves. try tricking her into thinking its night by shutting the shades and doing some night time routines. music can also be a help. dont feel bad a bout just setting her down and walking away. i know this is hard but puting her in a safe place like crib bassanett or swing and just walking away can help her to start self soothing. babys can sence when others are around and she may be sensitive to your smell, energy, movments, and body sounds like heart beat and breathing. let me know if anything works.. huggs.
