My son recently started sticking things in electrical outlets. I have tried 2 different covers and they don't work. He pulls them out. Is there any out there that are harder to get out? Any Ideas? He is 2 and I don't want my baby getting electricuted. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated! :)

i even have a hard time getting the safty first ones ont of my sockets to plug the vacuum in....now on the other hand once i get them in and out a few times it gets easier to get them out. so i would have to recommend hiding them behind a piece of furniture if you can and if you can replacing them with different child safe outlets

I got a pack of cabinet locks and socket covers together at Wal Mart.. the Safety 1st brand. They work the best! I love 'em!

I used outlet covers, the ones that allow you to have things plugged in, and they are hard for me to open! I think I got mine at Walmart, but I'm sure Babies R Us has them too.

there are some covers you can get that you have to actually put the plug prongs to the outlet and slide them sideways before you can push the plug in (not sure if it's the same idea as heather was talking about) here's a link to one

i have a home daycare and these are what we use, i've never had a little one be able to figure it out.

Do you have a safety switch connected to your power? That way even if he does stick something in the outlet he won't get electrocuted the power will cut out. You need an electrician to install them.

My husband actually replaced all of our outlets with tamper resistant outlets (I know Lowes carries them but I'm sure other hardware stores do too.) They keep you from being able to put anything into them with out putting something into both sides simultaneously as you would a plug. Granted there is still some risk (I played with them before they were installed and you can stick paperclips into both sides at the same time), but if you treat them as if they are "regular outlets" telling baby "ouch" whenever they touch them and explain that they are not toys and could hurt them, and you don't explain to them how they work I'd say it's pretty low odds that a little one will end up putting something that small into both sides simultaneously as children that are young enough to not understand that they should not be playing with outlets shouldn't have something that size anyways as they could choke on the object. This should eliminate the need for the covers or inserts that baby can choke on.
