Balancing graveyard shift and full time mommie?????

Hi I'M a 28 yr.old with 3 kids, I am currently working full time graveyard and am having a difficult time gettin my rest, spending time with my kids and keeping up on house cleaning. I hoping there is an angel to help me out there..lol I don't trust Day Cares nor do I trust just anyone with my kids. I know not all Day Cares are the same and there are many kids in Day Care and are doin well. It's just a personal choice no disrespect to anyone. Is there an easier way to juggle all this??? My husband is a little younger than me and sometimes he's really good at blocking out the screaming, crying, and all the can I have...gettin help from him is hard. I was told I must give something up so I tried the house you know just kickin back on it a little. HA, no can do I am a very organized woman so it didn't work for me...If anyone has any suggestions please feel free leave your advice..

this is a old post but i am working graveyard shift as well, I have a 4 year old daughter. At first it was difficult for me to work this shift because i am also very organized and have a set schedule for breakfast lunch playtime dinner. My daughter has always been use to me working but not this night shift I have been working this shift for exactly a year and i have to say i enjoy it more I feel like i spend more time with my daughter during the day i can make it to appointments and run errands on time instead of rushing off of work at 4 or 5pm. I also have a great support system which is my husband and family. I agree with you on Daycare centers I tried it out for a week and couldnt even sleep wondering how my baby was doing. She will start school in January Kindergarden and I will keep this shift just to make sure i am available if needed for anything.

It is hard working the third shift I do but I also have a 11 year old, 7 year old and a one year old my husband works first so I know what it is like not getting much sleep but my husband tries to help when he get home so that I can get some sleep an I blessed with good daughters because the two oldest help with the baby. But I believed the only way your gonna manage is asking your husband for some help

That is a hard one... my husband and I work complete opposite shifts, where he works graveyard. I don't think you should have to sacrifice anything (and I agree about childcare). Because my husband works graveyard, I try to get some of the house cleaning done and kids fed (and cleaned up) before I go to work. It is not much help for him, but that little bit takes some stress off of him and gives him that little bit of extra rest. I know you said that its hard to get some help from your husband, but really I think that is all that you may need (I hope you don't mind me saying that). I would just try to talk to your husband and explain to him how difficult it can be to get the proper amount of rest you need and see if he understands. It is a very hard schedule and I honestly think that no one ever truly adapts to a graveyard shift, especially while being a full time parent!



I know it is not much for advice, but I hope this helps... the job of Super-Mom is exhausting!!
