Bath Time Trouble

My daughter is 14 months old and absolutely hates it when you try to rinse her hair. She's been this way since about 7-8 months. She doesn't mind you actually washing her hair with shampoo, but the minute you try to lean her head back or just start rinsing the back of her head, she freaks out and stands up and tries to fight you. We know it's because she doesn't want the water in her face, but she won't let us lean her head back so that it doesn't get in her face. We've tried laying her down in the tub, but that hasn't worked either. She's not as bad when she's in the shower with me and I rinse her hair in the shower, but she still doesn't like it. Does anyone else have this problem? Is it just a stage she's going through? I've seen those rinse cups with a soft place for the baby's head, but I don't know if they actually work and I don't want to waste my money. Any suggestions or prior experience will be great. Thanks.

Oh yes... I had this problem and still deal with it every once in a while (my daughter is almost 3 now). You can try having her hold a washcloth over her eyes so the water doesn't run over her face. In addition to the whole eye thing, mine also didn't like the sensation of the water rolling down her back so this didn't work for us but it may for someone else. My mom said it worked for me.

We started her on showers. She hated it at first but we got a shower head that she could hold and that seemed to help the most. It still took some time for her to get used to but with the use of the shower head she now knows she will get less water in her eyes so she is more willing to let us do it. It also helps that I don't have to wash her hair as much (maybe twice a week).

Also, get her into swim lessons if you can. In swim lessons, they will dunk her under water so it helps them get over the water in eyes thing. This has helped immensely!

I googled for the name of the visor and they are called Kangaroo Baby Bath Visors,They are very good They work for toddlers to. good luck.

I know what you need but I dont know what it is called.They have this visor for washing babys hair you just put it on and when you rinse their hair the water stays completely out of the face it just runs right of the tip of the visor.I know they sell these at baby product stores sorry I dont know the name but if you google baby bath visor I bet it will lead you right to it ,hope this helps.

hey I have a 3.5 little girl and she is the same way. Most of the time kicks and screams at the idea of water and soap in her eyes.... It helps when I tell her to put her head back so she wont get soap or water in her eyes.. And how nice her hair looks once its all clean and shiny. I really hope this is something they grow out of.. Bath time should be fin right?

My 3 year old STILL won't let me rinse her hair without a fight. The cup doesn't work unless the kid tilts her head back-trust me, I've tried it. The only thing that has worked so far, and we've only done it a few times, is to have my husband put something animated on his iPod and hold it in the air a few feet over her head. She'll stare at it long enough for me to rinse her hair out. We're so worried we're going to drop the iPod in the water, though, that we've only done this like 2 times. If there are any other suggestions, I would be SO open to them!
