We are about to go on our first beach trip with our daughter. She will be turning 1 while we are there. I am a little worried about her getting sand in her eyes or something like that. Do any other Mom's out there have any good beach pointers for a child this young?

We first started taking our daughter to the beach when she was about 6mo, she mainly just sat there and we had a floaty for her to sit in (with us by her side).
When playing in the sand just keep an eye out for shells and anything else she might try to put in her mouth.
Ours was scared of the water at first so we would hold her up to us as we went deeper or just dipped lower and she would calm down. After a couple of times she was fine, and by the time she was 1 and walking she was running into the water on her own.
She would get sand every and anywhere possible, we would just do a quick rinse in the ocean/lake if there was no shower. She was more annoyed at the rinsing off than at having it on her.
Just do as you normally do and keep an eye on her at all times and she'll be fine. I'm pretty sure we worry more than they do!!

We took our son to the beach while visiting my family in Florida when he was one as well. The only advice I can give you is to bring suncreen, water, snacks and have a blast! :)

As a mother of soon to be four who live within minutes of the beach, my best advice, warnings. Your baby will get sand in her eyes, and her diaper and between her toes, and in her hair, and in her mouth, and in her food, and in YOUR hair, and up her nose and....welll everywhere else in between. The good news, it will bother you more than it will her! :)
Relax, enjoy the beach, use LOTS of sunscreen and reapply often. Baby powder works wonders on getting of the dry sand once you're ready to leave. Take plenty of drinks, it is easy to get dehydrated quickly in the salt water. Be careful of the water. It is very easy for people who are not used to the ocean to get knocked ovrr by what looks like a little wave. You don't need to be fearful but just be aware.

We had some beach days (at the ocean) when the boys were 20 and 8 months (they were both walking-ish)
Pack several bottles of water (one for you, one for her, and a few extras for refills or washing eyes out when sand gets there), and some good snacks, like blueberries, that are easy to eat. Buy new sunscreen for babies (and be prepared to reapply several times a day), and have her wear a long sleeve beach suit (or lightweight shirt), floppy beach hat, and sit under an umbrella if you can. Cheap buckets, trucks, shovels- always fun. And a toddler floaty tube thing is fun too (in the sand or in the water).
