I'm 20 weeks with second child and last week I went for an ultrasound and the sonographer said its a boy then yesterday I went to the doctor and he did a quick scan and he zoomed into the private area and there were 3 very clear and distinct lines and said its a girl. I need to know but don't know who to believe. What do I do??

well I wouldn't plan for either...get clothes and things tht can be used for either sex baby. Don't decorate unless you plan to do the same...don't worry it's one or the other lol sorry sweetie I have no other advice

I would say it is a girl.
Girls can be mistaken for boys as their bits can be swollen.
Get another scan if you can.

I would be more inclined to side with the ultrasound tech, since they're trained to know what to look for. See if they will wait a few weeks and schedule you for another.

I agree with Gemma. If a 4D won't show, you will probably keep getting different answers at an ultrasound unless it's an experienced technician who has a lot of experience in situations with the placenta like yours. But I would just get gender neutral to be safe. Sorry though, I know when you want to know and get 2 different answers it can be frustrating.

If a 4D scan can't see what your baby is I don't think a re scan will help. Buy neutral coloured clothes and you will have a surprise.

They tried to do a 4d scan but because i have an anterior placenta the baby is too squashed to be able to even tell where its face is the poor thing. thanks so much alisia :) should i just ask for a re scan?

I had the same thing happen to me with my 2nd daughter. I was told boy then a few weeks later told a girl. We went and got a 4d done and sure enough, they said girl! If you really want to be sure I suggest 4d plus it's such a great experience and the pictures are priceless.
