Just curious on what people think of the name Dilynn-Marie for a girl.. hub thinks Dylan is strictly a boys name. Yet im so into the Dilynn, Ryann, Jordan.. etc for girls :) What do you think?

I have a friend who has a 5 year old girl named Dillan. I personlly think it's really cute! If I ever had a girl I would have considered naming her Joey.

i think its fine! its not like your naming your daughter steve lol. my daughters name is morgan and i know another little girl named taylor. as long as it doesnt sound like a strictly boys name like mike, its fine. good luck and congratulations!

Personally I am against it. It is confusing. My hubby's name is Jayden which up until recently was only a boys name. Now we have a new step-niece Jayden (age 7), same spelling and she asked why her uncle had a girls name. What could I do but explain that if you look up the name origin online that it is actually listed as a boys name, but that it has become popular to use them as boys or girls names, usually following an actor. She was then very upset about having a boys name. When your kids get older they will look up their name origins, everyone does at some point. They might aplaud your creativity or might be upset for giving them an oposite gender name. Also there is the view of kids teasing to take into consideration. Kids are mean and a boys name for a girl is the perfect opportunity to torture a fellow peer. Thats just my opinion though :)

I think Dylan is a cute name for either sex. My boys have unisex names-Skylar and Shane. When I was pregnant I really liked Gavin for a girl.

I think it is so cute for girls to have boys names. I know a girl named Ryan and one named Michael. I love how you spelled Dilynn. I have never seen it that way before.

I love the name Jaycen for a girl. I love the name and tho it is kinda after Jason Morgan on General Hospital (lol)....it's also my cousin's (who's a boy) name. I also love Georgie which is after my grandmother.

As a female Thomi (tommy), love guys names. Actually prefer Dilynn, Ryah, and Jordan for girls names better than Thomi. :) They are a little more normal.

I have a friend named Shayne. A cousin named Shawn. I went to college with a girl named James (called her Jamie). And Charley is very popular for both sexes, as is Harley! Good luck :)

I like the name. I had a boy but if it was a girl I wanted to name her Devin Ann so I'm right with you on the boys names for girls.

I don't like boys names for girls. At all. My son's name is Evan and I never even knew that people named girls that until recently.

Hi Alli!My name is Wayne Ann Menil and kinda odd isn't that my first name is a guy's name right? I like my name and usually my friends and family here in the Philippines think that my name is cool. If I had a second child i might also consider a boys name for a baby gurl. So go with it! Dilynn-Marie is a cool name. :-)

I love boy names for Girls. I named my daughter Braydin which is usually a boys name. Lucky for me my husband had no say in my daughters name. I had twins and we agreed that he could name our son whatever he wanted and I got to name our daughter.

i love it, i am a huge fan of unique names, why give your kid the same name as the next door neighbor. in all my life i have only met 1 man with my name and a few women but in the baby names books it is classified as a boy name. i like it b/c it is different. when we had our daughter i wanted something different, that you didnt hear everyday, especially since my hubby's name is Matt, so we named out daughter Kalyn which is more common then i thought but still different enough that you dont hear it everyday. my tip is... my hubby hated the name Kalyn at first and i just kept bringing it up and he even says til this day that it finally grew on him and now he loves it. good luck :)

I aboslutly love boy's names for girls! Even child that I have that happens to be a girl with have a names of this nature. I named my daughter "Jordin" middle name "Marie". I also like the names Kennedi or Kennedy, Kayden, Christian, Chris, etc... I'm pregnant now and it's a boy. We have decided on Jace. If it was a girl we would've used the same name but spelled it Jayce to look more feminine.

It is different and that is what I like about it!! My step daughter thinks the same thing!! That is why I named my little girl Jerrie, because it is different!!!

mr sons called ryan so i cudnt imagine it as girls name, i know a wee girl called rhyanna though but i see where you are coming from ie unisex names. dilynn is a lovely name for a girl but you would get people presuming your childs a boy when they hear it but writen down its obviously a girls name, but that kind of thing always happens anyway, my daughter is called Kara but everyone spells it cara. i think anyone can call there child what they want :) i wish iwas more adventurous with my kids names but dint regret naming them as they are.

i am expecting and if it is a girl we are going to name her Harlie Olivia after my grandfather...i think boys names are pretty for little girls!!!

[deleted account]

I think it is a beautiful name!!! But I do think that the daddy's should have some say too. We didn't both have to like our daughters name but we did have to at least both be okay with it. Daddy actually picked out the first name and I the second...next time I get to pick the first name....lol

My daughter's name is Jordyn. I think the "y" makes it a girls name... my opinion! lol But I think Dilynn in that spelling would strictly be for a girl. Times have changed. What once used to be odd isn't so odd anymore. We're in the times where anything goes! Personally... I love it. I like the names Randi and Ryann for girls as well.

As a girl stuck with a boy name ( Johnni ) it really sucks . I think some boy names for a girl are okay , others are not . I just go by Johnna it is easier . Please think of how other kids will tease her about the name before you give it to her .Kids are too often mean. It was a nightmare in school because of my name.

Im totally not into that at all naming girls boys names thing to be honest but I do think that Dylan the way you have it with Marie sounds nice. And if all else fails and she doesnt like it when she gets older she can go by Marie or Lynn. I say go for it if you can convince hubby.

my brother in law's name is dillon. so i don't think that it would make a girls name. but i have heard of people naming their daughters rusty and rocky and justine. i live in tennessee. boy/girl names are very common. i like ryan. one of my best girl friends had the name ryan. i knew some chick who damed her son lynn. so..go with your heart. what ever one you like the most that sticks in your head everyday is what you should name your little munchkin

I like it! I wanted Elliot for a middle name and my Fiance didn't like that it was a boy's name. I loved it though. My daughter was going to be Paige Elliot Johnson. We ended up with Kylie Marie Johnson.

I think that some are appropriate and some aren't really. But my favorite is Devynne (devon) As long as it doesn't look like a standard boys name, it works.

I dunno..... My first thought was no, I've always thought they were unique and kind of cool but not something I'd do myself. But you know, my son's name is Caedyn and a lot of people have been naming their daughters that, so I guess you could say I did the opposite (whoops) lol.

I like "Alex" for a little girl. If we ever decide to have another baby and it ends up being a girl her name is going to be Alexandrea Brises McFadden =) "Alex" for short. My husband isn't a big fan. He thinks it sounds funny being so Greek with an Irish last name. but we made a deal during our first pregnancy that he gets to name any boys and I get to name the girls lol so he has no choice in this matter. =)
