Is it normal for my breasts to still leak after almost 3 years after giving birth? It's not full blown breast milk, but it's more like the colostrum. And before they start leaking they get very tender and very very sore. Is this something i should be worried about?

It's not all the time or anything, but it has been happening off and on since i stopped breast feeding my daughter at 6 weeks old. I had to stop because i couldnt provide enough milk for her and she was losing alot of weight. She would feed off of me for like an hour and then down 2oz of formula. So i stopped breast feeding at 6 weeks and just fed her formula. Unfortunately i wasnt able to do it. But now when my breasts leak it looks like colostrum, the watery looking milk. But yeah, it has been off and on. Maybe only like less then an ounce twice evey 4 months..... I just wanted to see if it was normal or not.

It is called: galactorrhea -- here are two sites you can copy and paste - it talks about this sypmtom. It doesnt sound like it could be bad - but I would have some of the stuff checked anyways. It could be as simple as the bc - or worse - I dont mean to cause any panic - but better to check and be safe.

I hope this helps.

I know this sounds silly but it worked for me. Get some cabbage leaves and stick inside your bra. When I had to stop breast feeding my son, i had really sore, full breasts and this worked for me. :)

I was still getting colostrum after my son was 2 years old. Now I am pregnant again, and my boobs are huge and hurting, but nothing comes out. I was thinking mine would last forever, but becoming pregnant again maybe changed something. I really don't think there's anything wrong with it, but it never hurts to ask your doc.

Are you on bc? Ive heard that birth control can cause it - with the hormones... not sure though.

Otherwise, ive heard of women being able to bring back their supply, even though they have no nursing babies -- some bodies are different than others.

Id ask the doc about it. I wouldnt take medications for it though - there should be something else -- maybe you have higher estrogen/progesterone levels -- or have your adrenal glands/and other glands checked out.
