I'm glad I had a c-section...I never went into labor, they tried to induce, and nothing happened so...pretty much no other option. Don't get me wrong I kinda started to freak out when they came to wheel me back in O.R. and my mom told me don't freak out when you can't feel your toes ...but over all the best thing was when I heard that cry and they raised her up and I was in no pain at all....I feel like I really got to enjoy that moment...and I got to look at my husband and see his reaction seeing his daughter for the first time...the first time your feet touch the floor after one is the roughest but each time gets easier..just remember to turn in the bed ever hour or so move your legs so you won't be so sore..hope all goes well with what you choose to do !!

DONT DO IT... NATURAL IS BETTER...i had c-section and it was very very very painful...and the pain last for DAYS AND WEEKS...u can't cough, laugh, sneeze...take deep breaths...use the bathroom...take a shower, sleep...nothing...u can't do ANYTHING without feeling server PAIN.....i have a relative that had 2 natural and a recent c-section...she sys there is no way to compare the 2....natural is much much better...its painful...but the pain goes away once the baby is out...with the c-section its non stop sever pain for days and weeks....OMG!!!! its because of my c-section that i NEVER EVER WANT 2 HAVE ANOTHER BABY AGAIN....

I had to have a c-section because my little one was breech. The surgery is fine, the epidural didn't hurt and it was pretty cool knowing exactly when he was going to be born. I developed a chest infection while in hospital and coughing was the most painful thing I've ever experienced in my life. Just remember that it is major abdominal surgery. If you've got two little ones already, you won't be able to pick them up for 6 weeks and moving around, in and out of cars, getting out of bed etc is painful. (you'll feel like you can, but overdoing it can result in some pretty drastic problems when you're in your 50s!). They are undoubtably convenient, but Aussie hospitals are now strongly suggesting to women that we opt for a natural birth unless there is some complication involved requiring a c-section.

I had a C-section seven weeks ago with my first child. I was overdue two days and had a bad nonstress test. They sent me to the hospital to try to induce labor weds morning, thursday morning my water finally broke, but my contractions stopped when they took me off pitocin. I wasnt dialating past 5cm and i was -2 or -3 which means the baby wasnt locked in the birth canal, and he had a big head so they were thinking a csection might happen anyways.... I finally had my csection friday morning, my baby was born at 12:43 am.

the point of it all (sorry, i ramble) is that i fell asleep during my csec, which the nurses laughed and said id feel pulling and tugging. The Dr. announced "Its a boy" and i didnt even know they cut me open!!! I faught my husband about them cutting me open, insisting they hadnt yet, when he could clearly see my son being cleaned by neonatal.

i was stuck in bed at the hospital for two days after because i was extremely dehydrated, but i felt fine when i could get up and walk. They used glue to close my insision and it is barely noticable after only two months. The only problems i have to say is that i have absolutely NO FEELING in my stomach from my belly button to my insision and about three or four inches wide. I also still have no feeling in about a two inch diameter circle on my back where i had my epidural.... Im told it will probably be like that the rest of my life because of the nerves, but overall i would feel so bad for vaginal birth mothers, i would have a million more csecs than ever want a vaginal birth

Like a lot of the moms here i had to have an emergency c-section as well. The doctor that did my surgery cut bigger than what most doctors do and i was in A LOT of pain for at least 2 weeks...and where my scar is, im still numb! my son will be a year in 5 weeks...so if you can have a vaginal birth do it!

Hi Kris,
Well, here's my story... I developed pre-eclampsia at 36 weeks. Went on bed rest, then at my doc appointment at exactly 37w 6d, my blood pressuse shot up to 160/100, so my doc admitted me into the hospital and induced labor. After 24 hours of labor and no progress, I opted for the c-section. I was very happy with my decision. Here's my advice: Dont be afraid of the epidural or spinal block (which ever your doc recommends). I had a spinal block. It litterally felt like a little bee sting. And make sure you have help for at least the first week. I am extremely lucky and my husband stepped right in and changed every diaper and did every feeding the first 48 hours, as I was too sore. The recovery is pretty bad, but your baby will be totally worth it. Oh, and be prepared not to have feeling around your incision for at least 6 months following. Good luck to you!

I had a c-section after 18 hours of labor an only got to 2cm. I had very little pain. I wanted to start walkin around once I was able to feel my legs. The nurses wouldn't let me. LOL. Just take it slow. If you have the c-section don't eat anything that will give you gas for at least month or it will hurt. the only problem I had with the c-section was my son didn't wanna come out..

I had to have an emergency c section with my 2nd child. It was so fast, less than 10 minutes after they gave me the epidural his heart beat started to fade. It was really scary, all of a sudden my room was filled with people too busy to tell me what was going on. They wisked me into an operating room, then strapped me down to the table, I begged them to remove the tie downs, it was by far the worst part. They told me they had to keep them on so I didn't try to touch the baby as he was coming out. Then they cut me open and blood squirted on my mom and on my face. The meds they gave me during made it hard to breathe and being strapped down at the same time was hard to handle. I can't remember as many detail of his birth from all of the drugs, and healing took a lot longer. I never want to go through anything like that again.

i had a c section with my son although it wasnt planned... to put it my way i hope with my next child i can do it the natural way. it was harder as i went through 13 hlf hrs of labour first but i hear if u go just for the section its alot easier. i had 2 spend the first day in bed n wasnt able to do anyfing for my son i had to sit bk n watch others do it wich really broke my heart. but as others hve zd they were able 2 get up n move about quickly all depends on ur body i think. good luck xxx

I have had 2 c-sections and they both went pretty well! I had a planned c-section with my second child Keegan, and immediately after he was born he was taken by flight for life to the bigger hospital because he came out limp and couldn't fill his lungs with oxygen. They think they took him to early, his lungs weren't completely developed. The advice I have for you if you are having a c-section is make sure your due date is 100% right!!! As it ends up for a planned c-section where I live they usually take them 1 week-2 weeks earlier than your due date and as it ends up they were wrong on my due date and took my son a month early!! He was in the NICU for a week and on every machine and had every tube going into him you could think possible!! I am not trying to scare you, I'm just letting you know that it really could end up bad if your due date isn't accurate!! My son is pretty much legally blind in one eye because certain parts of his eye didn't develop properly! My son is healthy except that he has mild asthma, allergies, and has to wear glasses!! Keep in mind he is only 3 years old now!!!

my oldest child was born natural... and my twins were taken via c-section. . . so i have been there for both,... i can honestly tell you each one has its ups and downs. . . with a natural birth i had a really hard time walking because of my swelling "down there" and i bled heavily well after the 6 week recovery period. . . the up side to that is they hand you your new baby immeadiately after he/she is born so u are able to get that INSTANT bond with them. . . with a c section you dont get to hold you baby right away... (to me that was REALLY imoprtant) but the brigt side to the c section even though the recovery is supposedly a little longer... i was up and moving a few hours after the surgery (with a towel pressed to my abdomen of course) but the bleeding "down there" was next to nothing... after a few hours it could hardly be called anything more than spotting. and the bikkini incision is so small and is so easily covered... having your baby natual is generally better for the baby if you and baby are both healthy. and is obviously more natural... it is also better if you intend to breast feed. . . because you also wont be able to do that RIGHT away with a c cestion. and they say the sooner baby is on the breast the better if you intend to go that route. if you are bottle feeding though that wouldnt be a big issue for you.

if it werent for the instant bonding you are stripped of with a c section i would probably saved myself the 27 hours of labor i went through with my daughter (lol) (which is also SUPER fast... i was in and out of the OR with twins even in less than half an hour and my incision looks great.... the procedure is also utterly painless... a little strange feeling but not at all painful) i guess you just have to do what fits your personal prefrences and beliefs best .. good luck with whatever you decide. !

I had no choice about mine but I would have wanted it anyway. The only down side to having a c-section is the stitches and losing the weight after, which I had real trouble with. When the midwife pulled the stitches out, it was like I was being stung by a wasp, it was a really stingy sort of feeling and it wasn't nice. When I plan my next child, I will be opting for c-section, it was the best way for me personally. Just make sure you don't push yourself too much in the first few days and relax as much as possible.x

I had my daughter via c-section after a 10hr labour. It went well, took around 8hrs after before i could move, get out of bed etc and they give plenty of pain meds. It was uncomfortable for the first week but not too bad. The most annoying thing about it was you cant lift anything heavier than baby for a while!

I had 17 hrs in labor, and found out I had to have a c section. It was a bad experience for me. I lost a lot of blood, almost had to have a blood transfusion, and it took about 3 days for by blood preasure to go back to normal. Remember although a c section has become very common, that it is still a major surgery, and things can go wrong. I wish I could have had a vaginal birth, but my daughter had other plans. Good luck on what ever you choose.

hi there, firstly congratulations!! I have one baby who will turn 2 in april this year. I had chosen for c section as i couldnt gather guts for a normal delivery, and its was great. I was up and walking on the third day. It was a bit painful once the numbness was down the first day. but it wasnt that bad. plus i got to enjoy the delivery time without any pain or anxiety. i was calm and saw the baby with a smile... but above all this your doctors advise is the most important!! as your doc knows best whats good for you... all the best...saba

I had a c-section December 30th... everybody told me that I would be misreble after. Honestly, I wasn't, I felt good. My daughter was born at 4:45pm, the hospital i was at had me up and walking at midnight. The next day... was bad, I was so sore, my back hurt, and I just did not feel comfortable. After being discharged I took it easy for about 2 days, but got right back into it.

My insision was "glued" shut, I didn't have any staples or any external stitches. Which I thought was pretty neat because I never knew they could do that. At my 2 week check up my insision was completely healed and the "glue" was pretty much gone, and I didn't have to have anything removed :)

The spinal block that I had before my surgery now gives me back aches. Starting right at the point in which they put it in. And I have a crazy little bump at the insertion point.

Overall, I enjoyed my expeirence, but I believe I am going to try a vaginal birth with my next.

with my son i had an emergency c-section. i was in lots of pain after him. make sure u have lots of help for about 2 weeks after. But with my daughter it was schedualed i was up walkin around the next morning & holding my 1 1/2 year old son. i noticed sitting up & walking around helped a lot. take it slow on getting up from a laying postion & hold a pillow against ur incision when coughing or laughing

I had a terrible natural birth experience. And I won't lie, I wanted the epidural! It didn't work, and with the position my son was in it was extremely painful. I want another baby in the not too distant future but am scared to death of having another vaginal birth. If I would be able to have the option to choose, c-section would be what I'd want too. I'll get help for the whole week it can't be any worse than what I went through! Good luck to you!

I had an emergancy c-section with my son and at first the only bad thing was it took a about 4-5 hours for the drugs to get out my system and before i could actually hold him. It was painful and difficult for the first week but it was not unbearable. The only really really bad thing was my incision opened backed up and started bleeding out all over my bathroom floor. So of course i went to my Dr and found out that there was some extra fluid or something like that in there and for the next week i had to go back everyday for them to suck some more of the fluid out and pack gauze in there it was nasty!!!!Oh and i also had to pack gauze inside the opening myself too which was even more nasty!!!! another thing is it has been almost a year since my c-section and i still get sharp pains or itchy where the incision was. But the Dr did say what happened with me was a fluke and does not usually happen. Ithink it because rather than stitching or stpling me up thay used i think they are seristrips...they look like litle bandaids. After a few weeks though I was perfectly fine and able to move around really good. I hope this helps!!!

Well why is it that you want a c-section?did you not have a good experience with natural birth?I just think that a c-section is a major surgery that really shouldn't be done unless absolutely needed.I would talk to your doctor or mid-wife about any concerns you have about natural and c-section deliveries.Everyones body's are different and im sure your doctor knows plenty about yours and about any complications that can occur that really should be addressed.Good luck!

actually i wouldn't. i just watched the news tonight and death rates are going up for moms having c-sections. they say you clot easier and are more at risk for internal bleeding. they dont know why the death toll for c-sections is rising but it is and they are now advising against it unless medically necessary. i never had one and after watching that im glad i didnt. they said if you do they have special boots you should wear afterwards to help.

The only thing I found hard with a scheduled section (my first was breech) was that my hormones did not let my body produce milk for quite a while and it made nursing difficult. I did manage to tough it out though-and nursing is hard no matter what. The pain was bad and I did struggle to take care of my baby, but I don't think that it is much easier with a natural delivery. Just different.

I had 2 c-sections with both of my boys. The first one was an emergency c-section, since I would not widen at the hips to push baby out. I dilated, but could not get him out. The bad thing about that one was that I was in so much pain because I was not prepared for it. My second was vaginal. My third was also delivered by c-section so that it would be safer for baby and me and since I was prepared for it...it was so much better. I was walking around the second day, didn't have much bleeding, I knew what to expect and what to do to help heal faster. Good luck on your c-section and be positive!!!

I had an emergency c-section after being in labor 12 hours. It was the last thing I wanted. I would have never chosen to have one but some people do. I know if it is possible to have a vaginal birth that is better for the baby unless like me the baby is in distress. I didn't get to see or hold my baby for 2 hours after he was born and it made nursing difficult for me as well. I did have a lot of pain after. Being that it was an emergency it was also much more scary than if it had been planned. And the I was actually numb everywhere shoulder down all I could feel was my head which caused me anxiety as well

Hi! I have 3 kids, the first was vaginal and the other two were C-Sections. With my 3rd I was going to go vaginal but he decided to come all of a sudden (just like my 2nd, lol!) so that didn't happen. It's really not as bad as what some people say, it's much easier than vaginal labor. It can be kind of intimidating because the nurses come in and prep you (shave certain areas, put a cap on your head, etc) then they wheel you down the hallway and you're blinded by the bright lights of the OR. In our hospital, my fiance was allowed to be with me after they finished prepping me. They give you STRONG anesthetics that completely numb everything from the waist down, including your feet; then they move you to the OR table. Everything else is all downhill from there, you pretty much just sit there and wait. Sometimes they strap your wrists down so that there are no muscle reflexes going on that might mess up what the Dr.'s are doing, that is kind of eerie feeling at first but when you see that beautiful face you don't even notice! It is kind of awkward if there is a mirror above you and you can see everything they are doing; I chose not to look, lol. And when they remove the baby, it's just some slight tugging and pulling! Afterwards, the pain can be kind of a nuisance I will admit. Sometimes when I coughed I felt like my incision was going to split wide open again! But it didn't and they give you pain meds for your recovery, so it's hardly noticeable most of the time.

Whatever you decide, good luck and congrats!!

My c-section was nice since you didn't have any pain at all, and i was up moving around (slowly) the next day! The only thing i didn't like was immediately following the c-section i was unable to move due to the epidural, and i was also very tired from pain meds. From what i have been told the healing time is a little longer with a c-section, and from experience the first week is slow moving and not much lifting at all so i would suggest having someone around to help out! Hope everything goes well for you!

My c-section was great hardly any pain at all the day after I had my daughter I was up walking around just make sure you have some help at home the first couple of nights are a little hard because you start to get sore and trying to get up with the baby during the middle of the night is a little tiring.
