Can I add Rice Cereal to baby food? I know you can mix it with water, formula, or breast milk. But can I add it to baby food like baby first step by Gerber?...

I always did so it wasn't so runny. Otherwise it seemed to drip off the spoon too easily.

Yeah you can! I did with my daughter, she wouldnt eat straight baby food it had to have more texture to it for her to eat it!

Thats how Luke had all his fruit baby food. He wouldn't take it plain, or in formula, so... I masked it. He is really little, and they were worried about weight gain, so... It worked wonders!!

When I first started baby food with my son I had to mix some in with his cereals. The taste was too strong and the cereal helped dull the taste. I would make the cereal as recommended on the package then mix it in with baby food. This will dissolve the powder so you dont get chunks of cereal in the purreed food

I did!! My little girl HATED it by itself, so I decided to see if I could mix it in and she had no idea!

Yes! You still mix it with formula or milk... and once you have that set, you then add that to the food. Adding just the powder to the food may not mix well depending on the texture of the food you are adding it too. And from experience, most things are not good to mix with the dry powdery rice without already being mixed with milk or formula first!!

yeah if they are old enough the oatmeal is much more nutritional. I actually found a few articles online talking about how we should forego rice cereal altogether because it serves no great nutritional purpose. Interesting, as generations have been eating it lol but you cannot feed your babies the other stuff until later so what do ya do? :)

Yes, I use to mix a little sometimes when my boys had their stubborn moments and didn't always want to eat their vegetables. It kind of helped to disguise them a bit.

yes, and also when they get ready for something a little thicker the oatmeal cereal is a good choice. I liked to use it bc even the 2nd stage baby foods seemed so runny.

sure you can. It will thicken up the food though so you might need to add it with some water or formula so that the food isn't too thick. Its great if you make your own food for thickening up fruits.
