I really want to dye my hair back red but i was told your not suppose to while pregnant. This is my first child and I'm about 17 weeks. i've heard so many things about whether you actually can or not and since this is my first pregnancy im trying to learn as much as possible. Anyone have any opinions or experiences that could help me?

Go for it! I coloured my hair every 6 weeks or so through both of my pregnancies & my children are fine. It is recommended that you wait until after 12 weeks, which you are, and do it in a well ventilated area.

I am also a hairdresser and LIke I said before you can safely color your haor while you're pregnant and the way some hair color is made now it is ammonia free so you dont have to worry about the chemicals or the smell. just let a professional do it so that you know it is done safely.

im a hairdresser and it is safe to color your hair. the smell may make you queezy. the only thing like the other post said you hair may not take like it usually does or wont take at all. i have never had trouble coloring a pregnant womans hair.

Most hair colouring contain a lot of fairly really harsh & dodgie chemicals and heavy metals which end up in in your blood stream (they get absorbed through your scalp and you breath them in), and then go into your baby. I dont think you'll have a miscarrage or cause a major deformaty to your baby, but you'll still do some damage on a smaller scale (maby baby will be a bit more prone to getting allergies/eczema or be a bit more grumpy or get colic etc) - but hey some woman smoke, drink alcohlo or coffee while pregnent - its all about personal choice and what scrifices your prepaired to make for the health and well being of your child. you could look into the more natural hair colourings - (henna would be fine as its a plant not a chemical) but if your hair is alreay chemically treated they might not work??

you can color your hair safely when you're pregnant. but it may not take like you think it's going to. The hormones in your system can turn it a different color, the way a perm might be extra curly or not take at all. hope this helps.
