I have been on antiobitics on and off for over 3 weeks. my husband sex 2 times before i should ovulate and 1 time while i would be ovulating. What are the odds that we could get pregnant?

a few days after our last intimate time i have had streaks of blood when i wiped and then it turned into a light period look pinkish red and I am not to start for over a week. Could this be implantation bleeding, or just break though bleeding from being on the pill and antibotics? I am at first didnt want to get pregnant but now i love the idea and afraid i am not. Thanks for your help.

very easily. Antibiotics make your birthcontrol virtually useless. when taking antibiotics while on BC you should wait I believe three days after stopping the antibiotics before having sex..

FYI, if there is a chance you might be, i would stop taking your birth control all together till you find out if you are or not.

They say if you are on antibiotics the pill won't be as effective. I would go and get a test done, but maybe talk to your partner see how he feels about it. you need that support when you go and get the test done. It is exciting if you are and if not maybe your ready now to try for a baby. Good Luck

One of my children were conceived while I was on Birth Control. I wish they would give better warnings to women who fill prescriptions for antibiotics.

It happened to me! I didn't know it could, so I actually didn't find out I was pregnant until I was about 9 or 10 weeks so I suggest finding out asap so you can stop taking the pill and start taking your vitamins! We weren't going to have a 4th child for at least a few more years, which is why I was on the pill, but I got pregnant anyway, and now I couldn't imagine my life without her. As for the bit of blood, I had that happen with another surprise pregnancy and mistook it for my period! My dr said it was likely implantation bleeding. What's meant to be, is meant to be!

It is a fact that some antibiotics will counter act with birth control. Next time, always make sure you are safe and use a condom while you are taking antibiotics. I am surprised your doctor didn't explain this to you.

julie.. yes, you can get pregnant while taking birth control pills, and also anti-biotics! You can pregnancy test 14 days after the date of ovulation, you don't need to wait for a missed period. Unfortunetly even a blood test may not show a positive pregnancy if it is right after you ovulated. Hope this helps!

When you are on antibotics some birth controls don't work. I have friends that this has happend to. Go to the doctors and get a blood test done, because sometimes it will not show up on a home pregancy test.

YES, you can get pregnant on BCP's while taking antibiotics. One of my mother's friends is going to be a grandmother now because her 17 year old daughter didn't realize this.

Yes, antibiotics significantly decrease the effectiveness of birth control. When any doctor prescribes you birth control they usually will advise you about the reaction to mixing other prescription drugs. If it is not your GYN prescribing you with the antibiotics or other medication, you should always inform the other doctor of the medications you are currently taking and confirm the two can be taken together. For some women early testing is difficult and is often inaccurate due to the low levels of HCG presented in urine. Your doctor can test the levels of HCG in your blood and be able to provide you with a faster, more accurate result. The HCG hormone is not immediately present upon conception and can take 4-6 weeks to show up in both your urine and blood. Testing is very important if you think you could be pregnant and you are still taking birth control/antibiotics. I would contact your physician and ask for their advice. I hope this was helpful, good luck!

Yes. The antibiotics counteract with the birth control and you may indeed become pregnant. Spotting is "normal" for birth control implants for up to the first 3 to 6 months. If you haven't had a period in six weeks, I would make an appointment with your OB to rule out pregnancy.

Yes you can get pregnant. The way it sounds with what you are describing, more than likely you are pregnant. Your doctor should be able to do a blood test to find out but don't always rely on them. The only sure way of knowing is an ultrasound. I didn't test positive on a home test until I was three months along with mine. I also didn't show up on a blood test when I was six months along. The blood test would pick up your pregnancy right now though. A home test may not but a blood test should. You should call your doctor though and tell them what you have put here.

umm yeah, your chances are significantly higher if you are on antibiotics. i got pregnant on bc even though i was not taking anything else. since i had my son i got an iud, and it is damn near fool proof and i don't have any more periods, i love it!

um well I got pregnant on the pill, the pill that I was on said that it could take away my period, so I did not think anything of it well I started noticing that I was not losing weight from my twins that I had in july of 08, (everyone told me I was being paranoid) well 4 months later I had a "lump" in my stomach I went to the er just to find out that I was 20 weeks pregnant with a little girl. So the way I see it if you think you are take a test or see your dr.

That's how our beautiful daughter came about :P for a long time i couldn't figure out how it happened, i'd been on the pill for years and never even had a scare. When i read the fine print on the pill though i realised that that must've been how it happened. I don't know how high the risk actually is, but trust me, you can definately get pregnant that way!

Yes you can the antibiotics cancel out your pill. I did not know that and I got a shock when I found out I was pregnant after I had been taking antibiotics. This happened to me twice.

You can get pregnant if you are taking medication while on the birth control pill because, depending on the medication, the birth control pill is less effective. also, you can get pregnant while on the pill even if you aren't taking medication. If you miss a pill or don't take your pill at the same time everyday, it isn't as effective. Another form on birth control, such as condoms, should also be used.

yah, the antiboitics do lower the affectiveness of the pill...

and if you have been on the pill awhile, and have never had bleeding likfe that before, something is probably going on...and if you usually get your period on the 11th, most of the cheap, normal pee on a stick tests at the store can give you a result 5 days before you even miss your period. So you can take it on the 6th... and an at home test will never tell you that you are pregnant if your not... the test is checking for a hormone that would not ever normally be in your urine, unless you are pregnant.

But if it tells you that your are NOT pregnant and you actually miss your period completely, or are having other symptoms, then definitely make an appointment with your dr. I know it can be scarey, but children are always a blessing, even though sometimes they dont feel like it. Good luck!

It really just depends. I know of people who have gotten pregnant on birth control. They were taking the pill AND using condoms to be 100% sure that they wouldn't get pregnant and the one time they didn't use a condom they found out that they were pregnant. I'm sure other medications might interfere with the reliability of the pill. If you are concerned at all that you might be pregnant, I would stop taking your birth control and see a doctor. Although it may be too soon to tell, they could take a blood test and see right away.

It is how my son came to be! I wasn't told that it messed with the birth control until after I'd already conceived. He is the biggest blessing of my life but yeah... we were a little shocked.
