There's not much you can do. It all really depends on the symptoms. If he has a runny nose just be sure to clear it out with a nose bulb as needed. If he is congested you could create a steam room in your bathroom by turning on your shower as hot as it will go, close the door and sit with him for 10 minutes max several times throughout the day. You could also use a humidifier at night in him room while he sleeps. If he's really uncomfortable you could give him some Infant Tylenol however you'll what to be sure to check the dose size with his pediatrician. I hope that he feels better soon! ♥

Before I used it on my daughter I asked the pharmacy if I could. They are actually the ones (along with my daughter's doctor) who told me to use it. They told me the right amount to use, where to put it, how often, etc. I'm sure if you go to the pharmacy (or call) they will be able to tell you what else you could use and how much is appropriate.

yea i use the nasal aspirator and saline spray also do the vicks like Hannah Dutchersaid because children under 2 are NOT supposed to have it on there chest it can cause them to stop breathing or open them up to much and get sicker

Oh - and just like the other mothers, I use a nasal asperator. I usually do it AFTER the bath, so that baby can lay down with nice clear passages and help them get to sleep.
Another thing is if your baby has a cold, they are probably going to have a hard time eating, because they can't breathe and suck like normal, so be prepared to feed in smaller amounts, more often. Of course, because baby doesn't feel well, isn't sleeping well, and is probably constantly hungry, they are SUPER CRABBY PANTS! So now would NOT be the time to try things like family pictutres, or other things that require baby to be on their BEST behavior or patient and happy. Don't set yourself up for failure! :)

1. Run a humidfier
2. Elevate the head of the crib (put a towell or low pillow underneath the mattress) - the idea being that gravity will help the snot run south and not pool in the back of her throat while sleeping (and possibly causing ear infections!)
3. get the Vicks nightlight - I like it more than the baby rub because it isn't actually being applied to the babies skin. It works like the old school glade plug ins - but uses VICKS vapors - itis AWESOME!!! I find it next to the rest of hte Vicks products
4. I am in LOVE with California Baby Cold and Flu bubble bath. the warm bath helps get their snot and sinuses flowing. and the gentle menthol vapors are great! Plus it is TOTALLY safe for baby.
5. plenty of breastmilk! it is choc full of wonderful antibodies! let her feed as often as she want.

Jennifer,
My daughter is 9 moths old and when she has her colds the most that i usually do is to either let it just run its course or if in speaking to your pedatrician they would allow you to, then you can give your child a little bit of cold medicine, but most cold medicine that i have seen for infants has been pulled from the market, i hope that your baby gets well soon.

When my daughter was sick I used saline spray and used an aspirator to suck out what came lose. She hated it but it helped. I also put baby Vicks Vapor Rub on her chest and back for both naps and bedtime. Sometimes I had to reapply it in the middle of the night. Good Luck!
