My daughter seems to be really constipated lately. I feel so bad. Then when she finally goes its like a hard ball. Any suggestions on what I can do to make her more comfortable? She will be 2 months in a week

My daughter *now 7 mths* has been struggling since 2 mths with constipation. When I talked to her dr about it, he said that formula in it's self is very constipating. He suggested to us giving her sm amounts of water or diluted juice throughtout the day to help. No more than a 8 oz diluted ( 1oz juice to 7 oz water) bottle of juice. It's heart breaking seeing them try so hard isn't it? Once I started my daughter on her solid big girl food she's very regular now without trouble :)
Hope your child has some relief soon!

we used prune juice mixed with apple juice and that did the trick, or a child suppository cut in half. ours was constipated alot at that age. but i would also try a lower iron formula, the iron in formulas not always a good thing and alot of babies cant handle it so they need lower iron stuff.

i use to use watered down prune juice as prunes are a known lacitive.. only give in very small dosages though..

breastfed or formula?

both my girls were formula fed and I had to switch them to a lower iron formula, nothing else worked, I was tired of giving them suppositories.

Talk to your family doctor too.

Yes, you can put one teespoon of dark brown sugar in her milk or boiled water and then drinkable for her( make sure it is cooled down) get her to drink and within the same day she will feel better. My boy is 3 years of age and i did it with him and today i thank myself because he is potty trained and go by himself.
