Nuva ring is awsome, you change it every four weeks. And you don't even notice it's in there. I have tried the IUD, it's costly, but probably the highest recommended by others.

I got a Mirena IUD after my daughter was born, and it has been great.  I don't even have a period anymore but I still do get cramps at times.  The hormones stay in your uterus and do not go into your blood stream.  My doctor did not recommend progesterone-only pills at all because of the side effects, plus I had a friend who was on those and got pregnant anyway.

you can safely take a progesteron only pill for birth control. Your doctor will need to prescribe it for you or you could try an IUD.

ops hadn't finished lol they attract me 'cos i can start it now straight away. i dont have to wait for my first period since having my Son. and i only just stopped bleeding since having him.

I also took the mini pill. I started it right after my 6 weeks visit because I got my period back at 6 weeks after birth. I have heard things about it also messing with your milk supply. I'm not too sure it didn't affect mine, but it beat getting pregnant again so I took it anyway. I was able to nurse for 6 months before my daughter had enough of not getting enough milk. You do have to take it at exactly the same time or no later than 2 hours after your usual time and you take a pill every day non stop. I have an alarm set on my phone that reminds me that it's time to take my pill. I'm back on the normal pill now though.

Seriously...take it on time, same time, every day. Baby #2 is a blessing but I balled my eyes out when I found out I was 18 weeks pregnant and my first one wasn't even 8 months old yet.

Hi Cassie... I thought I had a period but it turned out to be only light bleeding for a few days. Plus, the timing doesn't match up for it to have been a true period. I took a pregnancy test really far into my pregnancy because I was in so much denial. I didn't want to accept it but I had known for a while before I took the test because I couldn't lose weight, I was tired/moody, I felt woozy and all the typical symptoms were there.

is that the one you take everyday without a break? i was looking at the inplant but i'm not sure of the side effects. i kinda like the idea of not having to worry about pills but the pill is all i have known lol maybe i'm just a little lazy, with having to catch up on sleep and feeding Charlie i don't know where i am at the best of times lol nevermind having to worry about if i missed a pill

Yep that's the one!  I take mine right before bed every night, pretty much midnight.  I was told to make sure to take it at the same time because it's not as effective as a regular pill.  I was never really good at taking pills before, but I REALLY don't want another baby to take care of right now.  I think that's helping me to remember to take my pills. lol

hey i was in the predicament you were. i went for the mirena which is a plastic iud which is perfectly safe for a breast feeding, it secretes low dose hormone and can be left in for up to 5 years, but also can be removed if you choose to have children sooner than that. it is ideal for women who have had a child, and not a pain, no pill to remember, or anything of the sort. it is not ideal if you are not in a monogamous relationship. if you contract and sti with it it can cause alot of damage. but other than that it is perfect.

mini pill, implanon, or mirena would be fine. Stay away from anything with estrogen because it will cause problems with your milk supply.

Joy, Congratulations on baby number 2.  I was just wondering if you had a period before you found out you were pregnant or had they not resumed yet?  If you hadn't had your period, what made you take the pregnancy test?  Sorry if that is too personal, just curious as I haven't been very diligent in making sure that I stay on a tight schedule with my birth control either! ;)

I took a progesterone pill while I was breast feeding. The only thing is to make sure you take it at the same time of day, every day. Baby #2 is on his way because I couldn't seem to stay on schedule.

i have the same problem. all my dr. told me was that use a condom. Due to the fact that your hormons are not yet back to normal and going on to any type of birth control my not be thet best idea. he told me to wait till i got my first period till i went back on anything.all though breastfeeding you may not get a period till you finish bf, wait a little longer to see what your body is going to do first.

hi my friend who breastfed had the mini pill it was the only form of contraception she could have, the injections and the implant have the same hormone in them, just the implant releases it slower over 3 years, ive had mine in 3 years this year and never had a problem with it but others do, if you dont want the injections then the implant may be better if they are able to give it to you. but there are side effects to every hormone based contraception, ask your doctor and see what they think but dont let them force you into something you really dont want
