My almost 4 month old has cradle cap. No matter how much I massage it at bathtime & put lotion on it, it wont go away. I have even put lotion on his brush and tried to loosen it that way to no avail. Any tips on how to get rid of it?

My bub had it really bad and I used olive oil, leave it sit for about 1/2 an hour then comb with a baby comb and brush the flakes off with a baby brush and after doing it a few times it should all be gone then u need to wash your baby's hair with baby shampoo (daily if its very oily) and it keeps it away! Ever since I started doing this it has gone and stayed away... I use Gaia baby shampoo.

my mum gave me the best advise ever for cradle cap. after a bath cover the hair in vasaline and put a hat on...leave it over night nd in the morning the cradle cap should of lifted from the scalp and you can just comb away. it works

Both of my kids had really bad cradle cap, I tried the baby oil and winne the pooh cradle cap remover (which I HATED, very smelly and it irritated my sons scalp!) and by the next day it would be back again. Very frustrating!

I wanted to use a more natural remedy instead of medicated products since they were so young. So, tried using olive oil after shampooing and letting it set overnight, comb the flakes then wash. It really works! Just be careful whenever you their hair because it falls out easily.

When my son was born he was the only boy and only baby with a head full of hair at the hospital which just so happen to obe a teaching hospital. So saying that he was used alot when it came to teaching childcare. One trick the instructor showed for him was to take a surgical scrub brush and massage a light conditioner in his hair in a circular motion. The bristle are long enough to reach his scalp and soft enough not to scratch it. Another trick I've learned is to apply coconut oil to the scalp and using a small tooth comb gently stimulate the scalp and it should come right up. I like coconut oil because its cheep, smells really good and is a light oil that if rubbed on the skin it usually soaks in quickly, but I wouldn't suggest leaving on the baby's hair it does seem to weigh it down.

Quoting Melissa:

The best way I have found...I have three and its worked every time. You need to get some baby oil, saturate their head and I put a hat on them and let them sleep overnight with it, when they get up in the morning take a fine comb or a brush and it should flake right off. Now, you may have to repeat that for two or three nights if its really bad but I have never known it not to work.

this is exactly what my pediatrician said to do and it worked like a charm......if you use the baby brush and scrub in a circular motion it works best....I have done this with my last two babies

Use baby oil instead of lotion. My son still had cradle cap and he is 6 months old. put baby oil on the scalp and brush it, then when again after the bath. His is almost gone but not noticable to others

We used Baby Magic hair and body wash and when we would wash our daughters hair, we put the soap in and then used a fine tooth comb to gently scrape against her head. It was gone within a week. :) Hope you find something that works soon!

There is a lotion and shampoo set called Mustela, it is amazing!! Plus it smells so good!! I wouldn't pick at it too much, as it could upset your little one!

With my first son I used facial creem to get it off. You know like the kinde your grandmother use to use to take off her make-up. Any kind will do, I went to the Dollar Store and got the cheepest kind. I did the same with my5 month old also. Just rub it on let set for a few and wipe off. It will be gone in a week. My sons grandmother told me about this and it will work.....promiss.

My little one gets it still and she is 20 months. What her dad and I do is put baby oil and let it set for a few minutes. After that we take a very fine-tooth comb and run it through her hair. We have to do this once or twice each time it shows up. I hope that this helps. Good luck!
