So my daughter is 6 wks and at her 1 month check up the doctors said she had baby acne. While it looked like baby acne it started getting worse and worse. I noticed she started to get cradle cap on her head and ears. Her head just looked like dandruff, her ears got a crusty yellow substance on it and her face started to get really dry and flaky and severly red. I called the doctor and they said they will check her at her 2 month check up but it could be cradle cap on her face or eczema. Now I dont have any skin problems and neither does her father so I didnt think it would be eczema. I bought stuff "Gentle Natural Cradle Cap" stuff that worked wonders on her head and its been gone for about a week now but her face is still bumpy and dry. I been using eczema cream for babies by aveeno that has help some what with the redness but the bumps and dryness are still there and slightly red. SOOOO my question is has anyone else had this problem with their baby getting cradle cap on their face and what have you done that worked to help relieve it and or get rid of it. I know it bothers me more than her but as parents I know we get uppty quickly. Thank you so much in advance for any suggestion and comments.

my son has ecema above his right eyebrow, and it was horrible the first time. i went crazy with the lotions and creams, trying to do everything i could to make it go away. in the end, what made it go away, was nothing at all. after about 5 days of not using the creams and lotions, it was just gone. its still flares up every now and then. but i leave it alone, and its gone in a day or two.

My son has the same problem and diagnosed him with eczema, which he will most likely grow out of, and it was irritated by milk based formula. Right now I have him on soy which helped tons and am trying coconut oil. The doctor also said to use a mixture of 1% cortisone and aquaphor to treat the inflammation and help hydrate his skin. It is on his face and head as well.

It's normal, it will eventually go away. You can use anti-dandruff shampoo for her hair. Using any Johnson's products made my daughters skin worse. I avoided anything with scent. If it's on the face it's prob not eczema... and if it is... babies get eczema doesn't mean they will have it forever. If she gets eczema on her body you can use Vaseline to restore moisture and don't rub it/scratch it. You can put a little hydro cortisone on it, she will prob feel better

Try using Vitamin E, when my 11 year old was an infant they didnt have all the cool products they have now so my step mother used vitamin E capsules that she poked a hole in with a needle and squeezed it on my daughters cradle cap and we rubbed it in. Also, my son has eczema that comes back in the winter every year and I give hime oatmeal baths, which is also made by Aveeno. It doesn't a always get rid of all the redness but helps tremendously with the itchyness

My son had the same thing and the pediatrician told us that he had eczema and gave us hydrocortisone cream and said to use Eucerin calming cream.. This helped him immensely! Also neither me or his father have skin problems..

My son had the same problem, and the creams the doctor and the chemists told me to use on his face made his face so much worse, even coming up in blisters. I have since found out (when he started on solids) that he has a skin reaction to oatmeal, which all the creams and bath washes contained.

My mum told me that my brothers had the same skin problem, so she just washed them with velvet soap (baby soap) and used zinc and castor oil cream and it helped. So I tried this on Liam, and now his skin is as smooth and soft as a babies bottom...literally :) He still gets cradle cap on his head though, he has a very sweaty head, and so far Ive been able to get rid of it for a day or two then it comes back as if it was never gone.
