I just cut out my 3 year old's nap. I make her lay on the couch for at least a half hour (just to rest) during her little sister's naptime. Now she falls to sleep much better at night, before she would lay in bed for over an hour until she would fall asleep.

I don't think I would ever cut out our son's nap considering I've seen him without one and it is NOT good.  We either shorten the nap times or he can stay up later. It just depends when he has to get up in the morning. If our son gets shorter nights of sleep, he'll still wake up fine, but he be more apt to want the daytime nap too.

My son is the same way....I have started to wake him up at about 7:45-8:00 and then putting him down for a nap at 12:00 after he eats lunch and wake him back up at 1:30 at the latest!!! Then he has a bath before bed and then story and that seems to work! BUT he still has his fitts where he will try to stay up later.

i have a 2yr old boy who i have the same problem with he still has a nap, i had a nursrey nurse come to my home to give me advice and now he has a nap at 1pm and he doesnt wake up i wake him up after 30-40mins he doesnt like bein woke up but if hes distracted he gets over it quick then hes ready to go bed at 8pm after his bath. it sound cruel but it works for us. its worth a try.
