Hi Everyone

I`m thinking of getting my almost 15 month old daughter some reins, She has been walking for a few months now so is a confident walker. She loves exploring, but I would feel much more relaxed if she had some reins, as she doesn't like holding my hand and likes to wander off.

I wanted to know which reins you would all recommend. There are so many. Would you recommend harness or wrist strap?

Hi, my son was a sprinter, i used the harness as when you are pulling back to stop them bolting you are pulling on there whole body, i tried the wrist strap but he just undid it. the harness i got also has bits that can clip on a trolley so you can stop them climbing out the shopping trolley which i found to be a life saver when shopping alone

i have tried the harness reins, the back pack reins and the wrist strap with my children and personally i wouldnt recommend the wrist strap option! The harness reins are great but can sometimes be a pain to fit over big coats (ie in the winter), the wrist strap i didnt like at all, when ur child starts to fall (as they do so many times!!) its ur natural reaction to pull back on the strap, if its around their wrist you end up yanking their whole arm back whereas with the backpack, they dont even realise theres a strap attatched to it, they just feel really cool with the little packs on! plus when they fall and u pull on the reins to catch them, their whole body takes the weight rather than just an arm! Hope i've helped in some way :)

Hi,

I purchased a harness style with a teddy bear "backpack" for my son, who is 4 and a runner and would recommend it. The whole thing is fabric so completely washable and the little ones have friend, when your child is a little older the tether protion is removable so your child can wear it on their wrist. My son & I refer to it as his Safety Bear I believe it is by Munckins and was $20 at Toys R Us....Good Luck with your little one :)
