My 8 month old daughter has had rashes since she was born. The doctor doesnt care about it and says use desitin. Well i've tried that, triple paste, butt paste....EVERYTHING and its just plain raw! Another doctor scripted a yeast infection cream and ointment. It works, however when the tube is done. It comes back and sometimes worse. They are like lil circles and no matter what both doctors now say its normal! What should i do?

My first son had really sensative skin, and rather than treating rashes, I regualrly put A&D Ointment on him when i changed him. That way it prevented the problem.

If she has diaper rash, you may wanna try to NOT use wipes on her at all. This might sound gross but, if you try washing her off in the sink after she goes poo or pee, it should eliminate any rash. My son used to get diaper rash and we heard washing him off in the sink and drying him off before putting his diaper on would cure it, and it did!

My kids have very sensitive skin as well. I had to use only pampers sensitive wipes (any other brand irritated their skin) and only pampers diapers (they kept the skin drier than any other I tried) and for the rashes that they still did get I have only been able to use desitin creamy (had to be the creamy kind the regular did not work as well) to clear up the rash. And after baths instead of towel dry let her air dry and play without a diaper on periodically. Also more frequent diaper changes may help too like check it every hr or 2 and if its wet change it even if it's not full.

My daughter used to and still does get rashes very bad. We tried everything created. Then our doctor had us try nystatin powder! BEST THING EVER!!! It took her rashes away within a couple changes. Try asking your doctor for this! Good luck!!! :)

ok my all favorite cream to use is called Bag Balm. I know it sounds really funny but i used it on my daughter and not even 4 hrs later her rash was completely gone. You can get it at walmart and it is really cheap. Its actually used to keep the utters of cows moisturized. I found out about it from a nurse at the ER, she recommended it cause it works wonders. It also heals sores and burns. Its a miracle worker! If nothing else try it im sure it will help!! Good Luck!!!

my daughter was going through the very same thing and my mom suggested Vaseline and believe it or not it worked. I was so happy my mom said something cause it was getting to the point to where it would start bleeding. I would change her every 3 hours too but when she would poo that seemed to make her more red. Just try it and see what you think. If that doesn't work I would push the issue w/ her doctor and if they still don't work switch her doctor. I did that with her other doctor when she didn't do anything for my kids and now I am really happy w/ the new doctor I have now. Good Luck! I hope this helps you out!

Both my sons has this problem. There doc gave us Nystin(don't quote me on the spelling) cream and NyStop power. The power works better I think. Everytime the rash acts up I just use this for a few days and it goes away. Also, if your daughter is eatting alot of fruits that could cause it. With my first son he can't have juices or to much fruit cause it turns his butt cherry red with the first poop he has. Something to do with acids in fruits and juices really causes it to act up.

my son had a terrible rash for a month when he was first born raw just like your daughter sounds to have. After using every cream they possibly have on the market and yeast infection cream i didn't know what else to do.Someone told me try to changing the brand of diapers.I thought "what the hell I've tried everything else So I changed from huggies to luvs and i swear in one to two days it was 100% better. There are certain chemicals in each brand of diaper so she may be sensitive just like my son. I also let him air out like 3 times a day for like 10minutes each ,just to breath.I hope it helps! Try cloth diapers. Some babies can't handle disposable ones. If you don't want to do wash all the time, try a hybrid diaper like G Diapers. The insert goes in the compost/toilet, while the rest of the diaper is reusable!

Try running plain lukewarm water over the affected area for about one minute and letting it air dry, then put bacitracin ointment ( this is like neosporin) on and cover liberally with cornstarch. Make sure you change your baby every 2 hours whether she is wet or not. Please do not use scented diapers or scented diaper wipes, use plain old water and a washrag. Good luck and if that does not work please see a Dermatologist.

i am a pharmacy assistant and most people dont know this but nappy rash is actually a form of thrush so you could possibly try an anti fungal cream if you have tried that and need something stronger you can use something that contains a cortisone but i strenuate no more then 0.5% and please use it sparingly. you also need to realise that it is not to be used for more then 5 days and then to have a 4 day break as it can cause the opposite effect. i recommend the resolve brand and to use the cortisone in conjunction with an anti fungal. and to keep using the anti fungal while you are not using the cortisone and a soap free wash. i would like to note that this only a recommendation and it is still good to consult a doctor as there may be something else to it

Hi - I had the same problem with my little one and have also tried everything UNTIL I made my own cream. Get yourself some Nystasid and some Camomile Lotion. If it is a nice sunny day go sit outside with her and put her bum in the sun so that i dries completely - we have sat like that for hours, let it bake a little. Then you first put on some camomile lotion and let it dry, normally dries very quickly. Once its dry rub on some Nystasid. That should clear it within about 3 days, IT WORKS LIKE A BOMB!!!

Good Luck xxx

One: go to a food allergist and see if she has an allergy to anything. My Son was around that age when he got a really bad rash to the point of the sores being oozey. I took him and he tested negative for any but the allergist did say that when you are introducing new foods to do it in moderation. I had just started my son on wheat but he was given too much at once and ended up having a reaction to that. So to my number two. Two: clean area really well, fan dry with diaper really well( check with back of hand ), do the desitin then corn starch or baby powder or try just doing the corn starch for a couple of days and see if it improves. My Grandmother told me about the corn starch. Three: change diapers more frequently. Make sure she doesn't sit in a wet or poopy too long cause that aggitates it more. Hope this helps!

I had a similar problem with my daughter. Go diaper free!!!! Letting her bottom air out is a really good way to help clear that up. Also have you tried baby powder? Sometimes from all the moisture that gets trapped in their diaper, the creams dont work very well. I rotated butt paste and baby powder. Also we went to see a dermatologist. That is really going to be your best bet. In the mean time you can try the above.

My son came home with a seriously raw diaper rash that was just horrible. My pediatrician had told me that the area much be COMPLETELY clean, dry (we were told to use a blow drier on low, alternating cool and warm). Then spray 3M non-sting liquid bandage on it. Let dry, then spray once more. That will keep all moisture out. His was cleared within 2 days. It was a nasty site and any time there seems to be a problem. That is my solution. You can buy the spray at Walgreens. If you have any questions please let me know.We hope she feels better.

okay, so I was raised in a small town in Orange City, Iowa... awesome doctors and pharmacists... When my daughter was little I had the same problem.. I went to the DutchMill pharmacy in Orange City, Iowa and got Plenders Diaper Ointment.. they make it themselves.. and have used it ever since.. my sisters here in Delaware even found it very useful and now my mom either sends it to us.. or i've heard you can order it off the internet.. its a little pricy.. big bottle around $11... but it is so worth it.. clears everything right up.. Honestly... try to find it and try it!

When it gets real bad like that, run a nice warm bath and sprinkle a bit of baking soda in the water . And when ever you can let her go without a diaper or don't put her diaper on so tight kind of let it hang a little so she can air out. Works every time!

Maybe trying switching diapers, I don't know if you have stuck to the same brand her whole life, but each of my children could only use the cheap diapers (parents choice from wal-mart) every time I have used huggies, pampers, he gets a rash.

my son has problems with diaper rash also....there is some stuff called flanders that works excellent and some stuff called corona you can buy both of those at a pharmacy...the other thing that works really well is burnt flower. I know it sound stupid but you cook it in a cast iron skillet....if none of those work use a diaper rash cream, then coat it with vasaline and then cover it with corn starch....also stop using wipes and use just warm wash cloths and let them go with out a diaper as much as possible. I hope something helps. Also if your pediatrician isn't concerned about the little things will she be concerned about the big things?

We had the same problem, we tried all the creams and the ones from the doctors. One of my doctors said cloth might help, it allows the baby's skin to breath more and has no chemicals. They took a little getting used to, but no more yeast! I actually love them now. I had no idea cloth could be so easy, plus no more buying diapers!

When my son was a baby he got the worst rashes from teething. They would come on suddenly and get exremely bad. At times they were almost bleeding. I used a bucket load of Bepanthen. Then topped it off with nappy rash powder. Then once it cleared up i would continue using Vaseline applied pretty thick as it works for a barrier against the urine acid which makes it worse. Also, it may ne the brand of nappy. My son would also get bad rashes from every brand except huggies.
Good luck and let us all know how you go!

Stop putting all that stuff on her butt! Take the diaper off, keep it off and let her dry out. If you are using disposable diapers then STOP. She may be allergic to all the chemicals in them. (My daughter was and the dr said oh its no big deal don't worry about it) If your not up for going fully cloth then check out the site for G diapers. They are like a hybrid diaper, best of all no chemicals! (www.gdiapers.com) It could also be a food allergy of some sort. We found that when my son ate certain foods and then pooped, his poop would cause a rash/burn. DO NOT LET THE DR TELL YOU A CONSTANT RASH IS NORMAL. It is COMMON however for a child is disposable diapers to have constant rashes though. A child in cloth will hardly ever have a rash though. Good luck!

I would suggest the same, try going to a dermatologist. Also, it could be irritation from the diaper...you could try a different diaper. There is a cream called Eucerin, that works really well on dry patches so you could also ask your doctor about trying that. Also letting the baby go without a diaper for a while will help their bum stay dry, and may curb the rash.

first of all you need to get a new dr cause no dr should tell you it fine. the baby is in pain from the burning on his butt area. i say it could be a yeast rash which ur dr will give you meds for all he can prescribe a ornitment Nystatin this will cure any butt rash. also the best over the counter cream is aveno. old wise tale they say use baking powder dont use it only feeds to the yeast and make it worse. also i found with my kids i couldnt use cheap wipes or dipers for they would make my kids get rashes make sure use a good wipe or make ur own out of paper towles and baby wash

I would take her to see a derm. Have you tried the cream "Resinol"? It is over the counter and comes in a jar, however most places keep it behind the pharmacy counter so you have to ask for it.
Also, if it comes down to it, the best and most effective treatment that I have seen to clear bad diaper rash is a Rx called "Magic Butt Cream". I know it sounds odd, but like I said it is a Rx and it is a compound. The Pharmacist must mix it up by hand and it takes anywhere from 3-24 hours for the cream to mix and set properly. I am not sure where you live at and if this compound is widely used in your area, but it is basically the miricle cream used by both the Dayton and Cincinnati Children's Hospitals here. And don't let a Dr tell you he or she hasn't ever heard of it and won't write for it if nothing else is working. All the Dr has to do is call either a Pharacist or Children's Hospital Pharmacy and the Pharmacist there Can and Will explain the ingrediants and compounding process.

My daughter had a yeast infection at a young age. It is common when children are on antibiotics, that was our case. Unfortunately there is not much safe to do about it except sitz baths and keeping it really dry. On the other hand my pediatrician told me finally to use a simple antifungle, like you would use for athletes foot because it is the same kind of fungal infection... but even that can be unsafe if your child is too young. I suggest running this option by your doctor. It worked for us.

The hospital here told us to give our daughter baking soda baths three times a day for twenty minutes each, then we used Dr smiths cream. And when she slept i would leave her diaper off for an hour or two a day. It was alot of work but We managed to clear it up, it took like a month. And she too was born with it and had almost blister looking sores =(. Just have her sit in warm baking soda water, then leave her diaper off as long as you can. I hope this helps.

I like to se A & D Ointment on my lil one and then smother it with powder before fastening her diaper. Just a few suggestions...good luck!

HI Kristen! You might have to try a different brand of diapers,or maybe it could be the kind of wipes, because when my youngest daughter had a rash when she was little I asked the doctor and the doctor told me to try changing the brand of wipes so I started using Huggies for Sensitive skin and it made a difference. So you might want to try that.

I have found that Lasinoh works the best for my son... he has been going through the same stuff. Its by the same company that makes the cream for cracked nipples. you used to be able to buy it at target but now i have only been able to find it at babies r us. or you could also try using vaseline cake it on thick... it protects there hineys from getting worse. and also over time heals the rash. i had to experiment on my own and found that was the best so far.

My son was allergic to the diaper material. We had the same problem, using yeast cream, desitin, allergy meds, everything. Finally I decided to try a different diaper, and low and behold, he suddenly didn't have problems anymore. I'd try that, and if it doesn't clear up, look for a pediatric dermatologist.
