Sometimes a c-section can be worse. I had a midwife and planned a natural birth the whole time. Then my blood pressure got bad during the last trimester and they had to do a c-section because of the stress on the baby. Then when doing the c/s they found a tumor on my ovary and had to remove the whole ovary. I had and still have some fluctuation of hormones because of it. It caused my milk to dry up after only six weeks. I felt like a total failure. I couldn't have my child they way I wanted, lost part of my womanhood, and couldn't feed him the way I wanted. It is hard. I hope you are getting the help you need to make it through.

Post natal depression is a result of the massive change in hormones after your have your baby, regardless of natural or c section. I think i had post natal depression after my third bub, i didn't go see a doctor about this, i did try to reach out to my partner who was judgemental not helpful, i just put one foot infront of another till i got through it, i would recomend seeking help from your doctor or a helpline.

It doesn't really matter how you have the baby, anyone can suffer from postnatal depression. I had to have a c-section though and I had it for a couple of months after having my daughter. It was mainly because I was a first time mother and me and the father had broken up and I knew he wasn't going to help me with raising her.

I wanted a natural birth the whole time i was preg, and i didnt want any pain meds. but 12 hours of labour and being 2 cm the whole time my doc had me do a c-section for the health of the baby. As soon as he told me i was having a c-section i cried my eyes out i couldnt even hold still while they preped me for the c-section. my son is 12 weeks and im still sad i couldnt have a natural birth i feel like cring when i think about it.

I agree with Brandice, I don't think it matters how you have the baby. I had pnd after both but didn't seek treatment after my first. Hindsight told me to watch out for the signs and when I didn't feel right after my second I sought help. PND is nothing more than another symptom of having a baby that some women go through, the best is to get help which may or may not mean meds.

I had my first naturally and had a horrible experience. She was wayy too big to fit that way and the cord got stuck around her neck and she didn't breathe for a while after. I made my doctor give me a c-section with my 2nd because of this. I suffered severe depression after both. I chalked the first time up to the loss of my mother who died when my daughter was 4 months, but it was probably a combination.
After my c-section I had a few severe breakdowns and had to be placed on anti-depressants for about 8 months.
I don't think it matters HOW you have your baby, everyone can suffer from postnatal depression.
