When do you stop diluting your child's juice? How old is your child and how diluted is there juice? My son is 16 months and we do half water half juice.

I was told that as long as it was 100% juice that you didn't have to dilute the juice. As it was explained to me the dilution is mainly for the juices that are not 100%. I think my b/g twins were about 11 months when we found this out. They went through a phase for a while where they didn't want juice, but now they drink juice again. They will be 3 in June. As for my youngest I don't think I'm going to give him juice until after he is a year old, and once he gets his sippy down. He will be one in July.

My son will be 4 next month and he dilutes his own juice now (50-50). He'll pour half a glass of apple juice on his own and then adds water from the refrigerator. He's always had half-water/half-juice so anytime he gets straight juice it's way too sweet for him.

My kids only have juice about once a week or so, but it's always diluted 100% juice (I'd never purchase juice if it wasn't 100% juice). The only juice I don't dilute as much is orange juice.

My cousin still dilutes her daughters' juice. They are 4 and 6. She also dilutes her own juice so I guess she doesn't count. My son is only 9 1/2 months but I am planning on diluting his juice until he's school age.

My son is almost 2 and I'm gonna dilute it as long as I can get away with it, LOL. Not only does he not notice the difference, but watered down is better for him. I think a lot of people have the misconception that juice is really good for them, and in some cases like orange juice it is, but apple juice only provides a little Vit C and is loaded with sugar (even the 100% juice versions) even orange juice has a lot of sugar and high acid content. Water and milk are tops, so anyway I can get water into him, I will :) But thats just me. I'm sure he'll realize whats up when he's about 3 or 4.

yeah, so I don't know lol. My twins just started drinking juice again and we don't dilute it, but the juice that they do get besides juice boxes are already diluted I think. The mots for tots ones. They don't get juice all that often though.

Liz, really? All my daughter has ever drank is 100% juice and I've still diluted it. The sugar is not only bad for teeth, organs as well that have to filter the juice. Also sugar in juice causes diarrhea because our (infant, toddler, child, adult doesn't matter) bodies can not break down the sugar, that is why if a child is constipated some people recommend apple juice. Anyways!

My daughter will be 5yrs old in a week. I still try to dilute her juice 1/2 and 1/2 or however much of each ends up in there, but I'm often busy and don't even think about diluting it. I stopped diluting it when she was about 3yrs old.

My little one is 8 months and he drinks the Gerber brand juice and that's already diluted. He's had Motts brand apple juice but the diluted kind. I think we're just going to stick with the Gerber or Motts(diluted of course) until he's probably three or older. Regular juice has too much sugar!!

My son has always been prone to constipation. Which is why his juice is only a half & half mix and he only drinks the V8 fusion juices. When he is constipated we do a cup of straight apple juice or half water/half prune juice mix in his cup.

my daughter is almost 19 months and i still dilute her juice, a little over half juice, and a little under half water. if i put too much water in it, she wont drink it. but she doesnt have juice that often, as she prefers milk :)

For us it depends on the kind of juice. Orange juice is always diluted and my son is 2 and half. It gives him diarrea if its not. Most the time I bought the gerber juices before though and they don't need to be diluted because they are already. My son loves the carrot and apple gerber juice. For the regular adult juices though you will need to wait probablly til your child is 2 before you start trying. Then go alittle at a time. If you give you son 3/4 apple juice and 1/4 water and make sure it doesn't give him loose stools. It also depends alot on what he ate that day because if he eats alot of fruit than his body is probablly already used to the juice and can handle it better. Also if he gets plenty of fiber rich grains than it probablly won't faze him a bit. Also does your child often have problems with costipation because some do and if that's the case than adding more juice will probablly be good for him. The main thing will be to just try a little at a time and see how it affects your little one. Everyone adjusts in different ways. I hope this helps!
