do any of the moms have any suggestions to babies who spit up a lot have gas and is formula fed?

It may not be the formula, my 3mth old son was experiencing the same problem. I talked to my pediatrician and she stated acid reflux and prescribed him zantac and for gas a suggestion would be an oz. of warm water to get the gas off her stomach. Hope that helped.....

My son was the same way, I took hum to his pediatrician and she prescribed him zantac for acid reflux. Talk to your pediatrician about the symptoms you're experiencing and see what he/she say.Also for the gas try giving your baby an oz. of warm water to bring all those bubbles on his tummy up and out.

my son is allergic to milk he did the same thing and they put hem fomlua that was lactose milk that helps to much talk to ur doctor about it and ask if he could be too

My friend had a hard time with her little girl in this respect too. I am trying to get the name of the formula that helped them, I will come back later and post that. As far as the gas pain my son had some pretty bad gas pain when he was little and I tried everything and nothing helped, it wasn't colic cause it only happened after eating, but I read about mint and so I got some mint extract and put a minute, just enough to be able to taste or smell it and put that in his formula and it worked great. If constipation happens Juicy Juice and Welches WHITE grape juice will take care of that but don't give it a lot because it does make little ones poop and I made the mistake of giving him like four ounces when he was six months old and I thought he was never going to stop pooping that day. lol. Good luck and I will get back to you with the formula name, I don't think it was the ones you mentioned.

i had the same with my son i put him on cow and gate comfort first and it helps with colic. and woodwards gripe water was a big help for my gassy baby it takes time but his better now

but dunno how breast milk will make them react, my baby wont take bottle cause he would get sick on formula till we found out he was allergic to milk! but breast milk babys have soft better smelly poohs! n depending how old they can pooh before n after feeding, cause its easy to digest so they pooh more!!

my son had the same thing. i used to have to give him low iron special formula, and that helped a little, but after that i believe i used a lactose free formula (which you can get a wal-mart and it is surprisingly cheap)....turns out he was lactose intolerant..

My lil boy Moses done the same thing...Try Similac Sensitive RS formula...ask ur doc about some acid reflux perscription and as another lady mentioned the gripe water is awesome as well...it helps with alot of tummy troubles and colic. But definitly try the Similac Sensitive RS its premade liquid formula and it has Rice Starch (RS) into that makes the formula milk thicker and easier for baby to keep down...Best Wishes...

We had the same problem... we switched to Similac RS formula and the doctor said to take brakes in between feeding times... also we make sure our son has laid down for at least 15 minutes after he eats. This seems to help.

Hello:) There are many reasons why babies spit up. Like the others said...maybe acid reflux. Other reasons can be..maybe the baby is getting to much milk. It's very halpful to know how much babies can eat...it varies from babies to babies. My Bella spat up a lot! I reduced the amount of milk that she gets..and shortened the time span in which she ate. Also...I kept my Bella upright after she ate for about 15 minutes. These two tricks helped a lot!!! She went from projectile vommiting everyday to almost none at all when I used these techniques! Sometimes even half an ounce less milk makes a huge difference:) Hope this helped:) Good luck!

i had similar problems with my oldest. switching from formula to formula didnt help,try making warm bottles, and i find it helped alot to make sure baby is setting up while eating and at least 30 minutes after eating made her stomach feel better.it only helped for a while then her doc finally stepped in and put her on zantac becauase she had acid reflux.

It sounds like reflux to me, my nephew had that and once he took medicine for it he was so much better. It's a pretty common problem. They outgrow it eventually. Hope that helps. :)

my chaser spit up constantly and his pediatrician switched him to a soy formula but it didn't work...he then switched him to Nutramigen by emfamil and it really nipped it in the bud...but it was super super expensive 32.00 a can so i had the pediatrician write up a perscription for me and the local health department was able to give it to me on wic

Both my girls had that problem depending on the age you can put a little bit of baby cearal in there bottle that will help it stay down... also try lil remedies gas drops for the gas it is callled lil tummies good luck

Babies have extremely small bellies so it could be that your baby needs to sit up more while eatting or small amounts at a time. Feed an ounce then give baby a minute to let it go down. I worked for a pediatrician and that was usually her advice if it still continues after that then you need to consult your physician.

hey my daughter is 3 months old and has just developed a problem with her reflux she was bringing up most of her feed on every feed so i took her to the doctors and it was a confirmed reflux problem they put her on half a sachet per feed of infant gaviscon and i havent looked back since she takes her feed fine and touch wood no more sickness =] x

my daughter went through that. a ped, suggested that at feedings give a small portion, about half of what she would normally take, burp her, then continue feeding. i had a few times where she still spit up, but the advice helped. the formula my daughter was on was similac (blue one)

I used Similac Sensitive and Dr. Brown's bottles. It was the best for my little one's sensitive tummy. We had to burp her after every1-2 ounces just to keep her from spitting up or having a gassy tummy. We still have to let her food settle a bit before engaging in too much activity. Hope this helps.

My daughter had the same problem..even with the Soy. I used the infant cereal and put a half tsp. in both my kids' bottles. It lets the formula lay heavy and makes it thicker...didn't seam to bother their stomachs at all. People say not to do it cause it can make them over weight, well mine weren't and still aren't. Just do it in moderation.

Since it has helped to move to soy, lactose intolerance may be an issue. Something else you may want to look into is Celiac Disease, this is a disorder where a person cannot process gluten. I'm not trying to make a diagnosis, but if nothing else has helped you will want to know if this is a possibility before your kiddo gets many immunizations, Some immunizations use gluten as a base, if nothing else helps, you may want to bring up the spitting up, gas and diarrhea to the pediatrician and ask about Celiac.

i would see your dr, but we are in australia im not sure where u are living or if they sell it there but we had the same problem with our son we changed bubbys formula to Nan HA gold witch is easy to digest and after trying every bottle on the market we now use nuk glass bottles with slow flow teat and air venting systerm, both have worked wonders and bubby is mutch more happy and settled now.

I had the same problem with my son, i just tried feeding him less,it worked for me.... Alota mums overfeed their little ones. They are like puppies, they keep on eating even though they are full.... As for the stomach cramps.....i think i had it worse than anyone with my son....he has grown out of it now, but the only thing that worked for me was bennettes....you have to remember that their insides are very fussy and fragile when they are young, but it tends to settle more and more when they pass the age of 6 months. take him to the dr it sounds like acid reflux. my baby had it and was put on soy milk and just kept spitting up and it was acid reflux. before they put him on medicine they told me to put a little ceral in his bottle and to feed him sitting up and leave him sitting up a little while after he eats. try to let him sleep in a swing, bouncy, or carseat where he is not laying flat and that will help until he starts meds for it. good luck

Oh yes! You need to use Enfamil Nutramigen. It is expensive but so worth the cost. My son was on it for 9 months. It was the "wonder" formula! Also, mylicon gas drops in every bottle helped. You have to try the formula!

I would just continue with the formula and give him Mylecon. That is the best recommended antigas meds that u can give an infant and its over the counter and seems to work pretty well. The instructions say that you can give it as needed too so there isnt any of that waiting for hours before the next dose... you could just give it to him before or after every feeding.

i have not read any of the replys but my daughter had the same problem and they changed her formula to enfamil gentlease, it helped a lot and i used mylicon and gas x. Thats really all i did and she seemed to grow out of it.

Sometimes it is the formula that you are using. You might want to ask your doctor if they can switch the formula. Both of my children started with Enfamil w/iron and they were both switched to Enfamil Gentle Ease. Haven't had any problems since.

When my 2 year old son was born, he had that problem..I didn't get to breastfeed...so it was rough...for the first 2 months. Finally, he doc told me he had reflux...she put him on that Enfamil that was supposed to be "formulated" to help stop that...it didn't! So, finally, he was almost 3 months, and she told me to put him on Similac with iron, and add a little rice cereal (just follow the directions)...The cereal helps keep it down! It worked! Maybe something you could ask your pediatrician about!

Also, if he is having gas pains (mine did), hold him so that his knees are as comfortably close as possible to his chest...Pressure on pressure, relieves pressure...it will help get that gas outta there faster (most of the time)...and the warm bath does help too! Hope this helps!

My daughter was the same way till the doctor was telling me that she might need to change formula to the soy milk. After we tried that she stopped so what I would do is ask your doctor what one would best fit your child, that is what I had to do, and since I was on W.I.C the doctor gave me a paper to have them to change it. once I gave them the paper they game me a list of formulas and talked to me about each one.

I had that problem with mine. i changed the formula but there was always gas. i changed the bottles and than there was a major change. that may be what you have to do. i was using drops ins than i had changed them to born free bottles and it was fantasic

When my son was born he had a terrible reaction to enfamil regular and so the hospital put him on soy. Thats when the colic, gas, and pain started. It lasted 4 long months until a nice lady told me at a grocery store that the regular enfamil had too much iron and the soy didnt have enough. I put him on enfamil low iron (which was EXPENSIVE) but i didnt care because ALL of my problems were solved! good luck!

My daughter has horrible reflux! Limit paci use as much as possible, it causes them to suck air. Also when feeding, hold baby as upright as you can, and leaning a little to the left, this helps aid digestion. Burp often, and keep baby upright for awhile after each feeding. Another thing our pediatrician recommended was going up a level on nipple size. These things can help, but some babies are just spitters! As long as it's not affecting weight gain or causing pain for the baby, then it's fine! Hope these tips help!

You may want to take the baby to the doctor because they may have acid reflux and may need there formula. My 9 month old baby cousin kept doing that and that was what it was

i have twins and both of my girls have really bad relfux so bad they are on meds now they are on prilosec but the formula they are on is alimentum which is for gas and reflux but def. talk it over with your doc.

yeah my youngest son had Acid reflux but did not get diagnosed for 3 months. It was three months of crying gas and spitting up. The dr. put him on enfamil AR and a medicine for the reflux. if he/she has reflux i will tell you now that the spitting up does not go away till they are about 1. hope this helps
