do any of the moms have any suggestions to babies who spit up a lot and is formula fed. I have tried, enfimil regular because the breast milk was making him have some kind of reaction (kind of like he was having diarrhea, gentlease for gas, AR lipil for spit up and had to stop because he was having gas pain and now onto soy but he is still spitting up abit, no diarrhea though

My daughter had a similar problem when she was younger. I took her to a pediatric gastroenterologist who diagnosed her with GERD. He put her on all sorts of medications which actually made her worse and suffer even more pain. The spitting up didnt stop until I switched her to Similac Alimentum. I also added two scoops of infant cereal. It's the best thing I could have done for her! Good Luck and I hope this helps.

Try Nuetramagin- made by Enfamil- it is for protein allergies as well as colic from spit up. My 5 month old son has had 3 surgeries and been hospitalized 2x bc of numerous digestive issues. How old is your baby? If your in the 4-8 weeks check with your Dr about pyloric stnosis. Otherwise, maybe GER-D or reflux. Your Pedi should be able to give you a sample of the Nuetramagin.

Good luck!

I must agree with those that said to him tested for Acid Reflux. My middle son had te same problem it didn't matter what I gave him it was gas and constant spitting up. I got him tested and started him on med's. It didn't take long for him to grow out of it but the med's were a God send not only for his comfort but also my laundry amount.

Ohh,, try letting your baby sleep in a car seat, comfy bouncy chair or swing, something where their head is elevated above their chest, never lay them down after a feeding or it will settle in their chest. If your little one does have GERD, your pediatrician will tell you this :) And don't worry they do grow out of it, my son is now 6 months old and is fine!

I had the same problem with my baby, I went from breast feeding to Enfamil with Iron to Enfamil Lipil Soy & he was still spitting up! I finally took him to the doctor and found out that my baby has GERD (reflux disease). They do have antacids to give baby's & they help! Ask your pediatrician about GERD.

I didnt read all the post so Im not sure if someone mentioned this since he had a problem with breastmilk to start i would have him tested for a protein allergy, and def talk to your doc about it.

My son had the same problem and he was diagnosed with acid reflux. We tried Enfamil AR and it did nothing. I would go to the doctor just to see what it really is and make sure theres no underlying problem.

if its not acid reflex, i would look @ the type of bottles your using. ive been working in a daycare for about 2 years with newborns & i have seen about every single bottle. i use the doctor browns bottles. they maybe a little pricy but they are worth the out come they reduce spit up && colic babies. i was totally able to see the difference between all bottles.. hope that helps :)

he might have acid reflux.. my son has it and the doctor can put him on some medicine for it... most babies grow put of it by 9 months but mine is almost 3 and still has to take his medicine daily. but if he is still doing it now i would ask the doctor about because i changed my son's formula and put cereal in his bottles and it didn't help...

My doctor notified me today (my son is both breast and bottle fed) that 30% of babies that are allergic to milk based formula are also allergic to soy. We are now using the Similac Alimentum, it seems to have calmed his tummy down.

My daughter had the same problem. I had to change formula and my doctor told me to use "Enfamil Gentlease for fussiness and gas" and that made a big difference for her. She wasn't fussy anymore bc of her stomach hurting from the gas and the formula; and she stop spitting up. Be sure that she burps at least once after she eats, it will help with the gas and spit up. I hope that helps you! :)

Gas drops and a lot of patience. Spit up is normal. It happens becasue babys are just like every other person, they tend to overeat a bit.

You could try Different bottles. My daughter only did well with the drop-in bottles. Not as much air gets in with those. I loved them!!!!

I haven't read any of the other mom's responses, but my daughter was really gassy and spit up a lot, too. Try giving him a little at a time, burping him in between two or so ounces. Try a smaller amount more often, even if it's three ounce every two hours. He might just be trying to eat too much at once.

The best I can tell honey is to take the baby to the doctor because it sounds like he/she has acid reflux. Make sure when you feed the baby to not prop tge bottle up. And after the baby eats make sure she/he burps and try to sit in a car seat or swing to let the food digest easier.

my child was was formular fet from birthday and he experience the same thing and i took him to a pediatrition and he mentioned that it happens so you may have to keep changing milk to one that your child has less effects. he had recommend enfimil for me and it worked for him. pertaining to soy it is the best and for the spitting up, dont give him the entire bottle to drink all at once. if he drinks 3ozs every one oz burp him. it helped with my child . hope it works.

If you have been on the soy for just a lil bit then iwould stick with it, switching formula on them is hard on there body. I would try to rub the bottom of their feet, and lay them on there bellies, and rub their back it seemed to help my lil girls

Try the Dr. Browns baby bottles, that is what we used with our son and we ahd great success with it!! they are specially designed to help with gas, they have a tube in them that moves the air through the bottle as they drink but I dosen't go through tthe milk reducing gas.....the spitting up jus make sure to be burping the baby often even an hour or so after they eat helped my son alot. good luck!!

I went through 4 formulas with my daughter before finally finding the right one. She has reflux real bad but I didn't want to put her on a medicine right away. I wanted to try different formulas first. Similac Sensitive R.S., the r.s. stands for rice starch, was the one that I finally settle with. I went from breast feeding to Similac Advance to Similac Sensitive...then Enfamil A.R....then finally this one. It has been the best by far!

the majority of babies spit up. you should be more concerned when it seems like it's projectile. my son was allergic to my breast milk and it basically forced itself up and out and it was a lot! we put him on a regular formula which did not settle with him well. we found out that soy is what he needed. he's on a soy based formula, he has less spitting up- sometimes none at all. his stool was a bit harder due to the soy, but it has become a bit more manageable and he's happier. you definitely need to give it a few weeks in order for his/her system to become adjusted. just like any diet, it will take some time to see results. hang in there!

I had the same problem with my daughter, I used Similac Advanced Formula, I found what helped was extending the amount of time I'd burp her...sometimes I'd sit with her doing it for about half an hour to 40 minutes lol but I swear to god it helped. As for gas I just gave her gripe water and played with her legs a bit..I cant remember what else helped but good luck!!

Omg my son went through this we had to try many formulas to find the right one. Turned out my son was lactose intalerant and need something wthout a milk base. Also we tried different bottles Dr. Brown works the best for less air. Also gas drops are wonderful. I would suggest too speaking to your doctor because my son also had acid reflex I never knew they could get it so I had to prop him up everytime after he ate for ahile till he digested but luckily he's going to be 2 and grew out of it. How I helped a little good luck and if you need to chat send a message.^__^

my daughter was the same exact way! what you might do is change her formula...she might have a milk allergy. my daughter did! and she also might have acid reflux. alot of times that goes untreated. i would talk to your doc about those things. they can test your baby for both. we had to put our daughter on Nutramigen lipil, its in the orange canister. it really helped! but it was expensive! good luck with it all!
