my sons 10 months now and only been sitting up without support for about 2 months (while my friends 5 month old had been sitting for ages which was a bit embarassing) however he has been crawling for about 4 months and standing up for a while aswell, even now he can sit up he hardly ever does cos he likes to be on the move, think he has ants in his pants!

It really does depend on the baby. My little one started to crawl at about 5 1/2 months, but didn't sit up til about a month later.

my son was about 7 months when he starterd sitting on his own and was about 81/2 months when he started crawling...he is now 10 months and is furniture walking, and standing on his own but not quite ready to walk yet!. but ya like the other two moms said it def depends on the baby. they start doing things when their ready for it!..

Every baby is different. My daughter attempted crawling before she was pushing herself into a siting postion on her own, but only got good at crawling once she could do that. She started really crawling at 10 months.

I do believe every baby is different. My daughter was 5 1/2 months when she started sitting on her own and 6 months when she was crawling. That is about average for babies i think though. The doctor told us she would sit first bc they had to develop the back strength by sitting in order to start crawling.

I think it depends on the baby they learn in their own time, they just do it one day and surprise you. I think though its normally between 6 to 10 months. Some babies bottom shuffle along the floor and some don't even crawl they skip it and start pulling themselves up to walk. My youngest started crawling before he could sit up on his own, he used to just roll over and crawl. I hope this helps you.

Every baby is different! My son could sit if you put him in the position since he was 4 months. A week before he turned 6 months he sat up on his own.... then the very next day started crawling. A couple days later already pulling himself up and furniture and now walking along the furniture and trying to stand on his own. He turned 6 months on March 16th. So like I said every baby is different they all will go at their own pace. And Id enjoy the time you have with one that can stay still. Mines all over the place now... :)

It all depends on Baby. My friend had her baby 9 days before I had mine. She sits quite well, but cannot crawl. My son turned 6 months on March 24, and started doing the army crawl 2 weeks prior to turning 6 months, but doesn't sit very long on his own.

I think it all depends on the baby. My boy will be 6 months next week and sometimes he can sit up without much support, but not fully ready yet on his own. He hates being on his tummy so I wonder if he will ever crawl. He loves to stand however so I feel he will be pulling himself up to stand on his own first and maybe skip the crawling stage. I have a nephew that is 10 months old and can take steps on his own already and has been pulling himself up onto furniture for months now and I know some that never really moved until that age. I think if your baby hasn't crawled or advanced in anyway different by 9 months (so I have read) to discuss it with your doctor.
