Do you think that they will try and take him away?

I finally got a call that i was waiting for from the x daycare provider regarding a meeting she had from that parent turning her in when kason had a fever. She said that the board believed that i am neglecting my childs health. Which i dont see how that is because ive taken him to the ER/immediate care centers idk how many times for a high temperature. So she said that they might come to my house and check everything out. The only reason they gave as to why im neglecting his health (and this is all according to the daycare provider) is because Kason runs a temp too much and has a runny nose too often! ?!?!?!?!? the child for 1 has allergies just like i do! and for 2, how am i supposed to KEEP him from getting a temperature?!? i cant help that he runs a temp! but whatever. They can come look through everything at my house! i have nothing to hide. our house is just fine for a child. But shouldnt they be more worried about children who's parents beat them and starve them? Or the drug addicts that shoot up in front of their children all the time? i just dont see them doing anything.....do you?!?

They investigate because they have too but they only take children in serious danger. CPS tries to keep families together always and obviously there is no reason for yourr son to be taken.

I dont belive that they will for the simple fact yo can get your hospital record on how many time you have taken him to the er for a high temp. I think as for as him having a runny noise all the time its that time of the year and plus he is daycare where germs are all shared for one and 2 some kids just are like that around curtin times of year what are they so worred about, You cant stop him from running a tem all them time, You are doing what you need to and your right about they should be worried about children that need there attention nothing this is all a buch of crap if you ask me.

Since he didnt have a fever when y0ou took him then suddenly got one and has a runny nose then maybe he is allergic to something at daycare. Maybe you should never take your child back to that daycare or let anybody else take their kid either.

I know exactly how u feel my neighbors called cps for my son haveing a diaper rash but he has severe eczema and had diahrea so that happens... im sure they wont take your son cps just like to check your home to prove the daycare wrong. Ive been thru it all before last yr it sucks and no one ever likes that feeling of not knowing if there gonna take your baby or not but cps tries everything they can to not take the babies away from there mommies. If your house is fine for a child then youll be fine. Good luck and hopefully everything works out..... (you may want to try a different daycare that isnt that rude)

I was investigated by cps when my daughter was 5... she was in preschool at the time and had gotten behind her nana while nana was cleaning the yard and she got scratched under her eye by a branch. That was on a Friday. Then on Sunday, I was sweeping and she again came up from behind and I accidentally tapped her with the top of the broom handle, not very hard of course. Anyway, on Monday when she went to school, the teacher asked her what happened to her eye and she said "Mommy hit me with the broom", because that is what was in her head... The teacher called cps and they came to investigate. I just explained what had happened that weekend and that was the end of it. Nothing else ever came of it.

I would suggest gathering up any paperwork you have from the er/urgent care and doctor visits, showing that you have taken your son to get treated. Then just do what they say. Good luck.

id be carefull what you say infront of them. trust me. my son got put on the child protection register for "suspected emotional abuse" just becuase his new health visitor said hes not talking as much as he should be (and thats only coz i said my husbands worried hes not saying as much as he should for a two year old) and apparently i needed help to cope (which is pure cr*p)
if the social get involved they will be looking more for reasons to "catch you out" then reasons why your being a good mother. they completely missed all the good points out in thier assement and report of my family and our parently skills and only wrote about how i have passed mental health problems, which has nothing to do with my ability to parent and no longer bother me and my son has only just started nursery at the age of two wtf!!
im even a child of the foster care system and they did nothing good for me.
i agree they should be focusing on helping children being actually abused and neglected and live in hell with all their human rights being violated. in my opinion they are a pointless waste of tax payers money!! they cant even do the job they where put thier to do they just destroy innocent families and mess up for childrens lives.

In the past 6 weeks my son has had tonsilitis, vomiting for 4 days, diarrhea the next weekend, skip a couple weeks and now he was treated yesterday for Strep Throat.. No rhyme or reason for it.. He is also on Zyrtec for allergies (runny nose all the time).. He is most likely getting sick at daycare, but what are you to do.. We have to work and sometimes daycare is the only option.. I don't think you have anything to worry about.. Tell them you can request his medical records for review if they don't think you are taking care of his health concerns.. It may seem like an attack, but keep in mind that the daycare workers would rather be safe than sorry.

You just hang in there and you keep yourself in check. Make sure there is NOTHING they can say about you. Take your son to the doctor as often (and a little more) as you think. I PROMISE - that they will find EVERYTHING on you to make a case. Sorry if I'm worring you, I've been thru this and it is SO NOT FAIR. All is well now, but it was hard work trying to clear my name.

Just hang in there and keep your house clean, pay all your bills, go to the doctor, have a paper documenting everything you've done and it will all go away once they see they can't get anything on you.

My dad was an attorney. He defended ppl who had their kids wrongfully taken away. Children's Services cannot just walk into your house, unless you choose to let them in. Otherwise, they have to have a warrant. Children's Services takes kids away from good parents ALL the time.

girl, all kids get sick, there is nothing you can do about that. As long as your child has a clean home with running water, food, and you take him to the doc for check-ups and such you fine. They will not just take a child based on somebody making an accusation with out an investigation that includes a home visit (they look for Clean sheets, Food, enviormental hazards, drug use, ect.) the goal of DHR,DCF,CPS or whatever it is in your state is not to take kids away from their mothers it is to make sure that kids are ok. I would be open honest and willing to work WITH any social worker if they do come.. However it sounds like your childs daycare provider has her own motives and you might want to really consider finding someone else. There are lots of reasons kids get sick and or run a fever. Good luck.

my son who is 5 now ran snuck out of the house at 4 yrs old in the morning while i was still sleeping right after i had my daughter. the cops brought him home and asked me questions for a good hour. i told him he most likly had adhd and that he doesnt listen. which now we confirmed he does have it and hes medicated for so things are WAY better. they decided that it was an accident that that type of thing happens but i have to watch him closely or i will lose him. its horrible because its a condition he has where he physically does not listen unless hes drugged because he cant. so nothing happened there thankfully so i HIGHLY doubt anything will come of this.. its just a fever and runny noses. its a kid and they are sick constantly with this or that.

I have dealt with Child Protective Services several times in the past and They pick on you for the littlest things and then that very same night you hear on the news how some child was murdered by their parent etc. I believe they have way to much power and dont know what they are doing and most of the service workers I have met dont have children of their own so they dont even know what it is like trying to work, take care of your baby, and your house.

I wouldn't sweat it too much. I got reported by a home inspector (apraisor(sp) a few years ago who came to look at our house to figure out the resale value because my kids were dirty. They had just been outside playing five minutes before she got there because it was summer and they were having fun. Department of human services came out, looked around the house, checked to make sure we had running water and food in the house. Then went outside and saw my kids making mud pies. (like they were doing the day the home inspector came out) He actually laughed and said he hated when people jump to conclusions without knowing all the facts and left.

You sound like you've done everything you can to take care of your son's medical problems, so as long as you have documentation to that effect, you should be just fine. If you haven't already done it, get copies of his medical records from any hospitals, clinics, doctors, etc. that he's seen, and make sure to have current contact information for his doctor so that CPS can contact him/her and confirm. As long as that is the only complaint that has been put into file against you, you should be just fine. :-) Best of luck!

I wouldnt worry too much about it i was a foster kid and their standards are actually lower than they should be. You would be surprised what situations protective services wil leave a child in. Since there is obviously no real basis for their claim to begin with I doubt anything will come from it. Try to relax. I had them investigate me a few months back when my 13 month old son and fractured his leg while being babysat at grandma's house no big just a routine check and they filed it as an accident. (his 2yr old cuz fell on him)

Do you take him to the pediatrician regularly? Have you mentioned to your child's primary care provider that he gets fevers frequently? A fever is a sign that there is something going on with your son's immune system. I obviously do not know the entire story, the daycare provider could be out to get you, or she/he could be concerned that your child is not getting the medical care that he needs. I would suggest that you not worry about child services as they are not likely to intervene, but I would consider taking your son in for some blood work and to have a full head to toe physical and express your concerns to his Dr. Best of luck!

Ear infections aren't contagious. Your baby sitter is an idiot so it's probably a good thing that you don't use her any more. Infact, even with having five kids myself, only one gets sick at a time. I hardly ever have more than one kid sick in my house.

make it clear that your child is well care for and sees his doctor regularly, you can even offer the drs info so they can contatct him or her. can the dr. back up the allergies or did you just diagnose it yourself?

they could investigate, maybe do a dr's visit with the doc's they work with...but they more than likely wouldnt take him away...they might give you pamphlets on promoting better health but I really don't see this as a serious problem. Relax...be the best mom you know how to be...everyone has their opinions but even his medical records show he has been to the ER for something as small as a temperature so I should think you'd be in the clear. We actually lost custody of my son for one night because that morning at 5am he turned a laundry basket upside down, undid all the locks, opened the door and went up the street to the school to play in the sand box...he was 2 years old. All they did was check him out for any signs of physical abuse...they asked my husband and me concerns we might have regarding his health and development and I laid it all out. I told them he threw tantrums and i wasnt sure how to stop it...i believed he didn't speak like he should've been, they even tested him for autism because of my concerns. They made us take a 123 magic class with a woman that came to our house to teach it and it's been great since...this was 7 years ago and we have a little girl now too...don't worry...be honest and hang in there :)

I would keep documents of when he's sick and how you've been trying to treat it. Also, what tempature is he running? A lot of parents assume anything over 98.6 is a fever, but tempature varies from person to person and from one time of day to the next. Unless his tempature is over 100.4 it's not medically deemed a fever. I also agree I would not pay these people money just to get them to go away/stop harrasing you.

Christina,
The day i had to come pick him up (the day the parent reported) is the same day that i took him to the immediate care and it cam out that he had a bad ear infection too. So that was the reason that he was running a fever. But the next day that the babysitter took off, she blamed my son for getting her children sick. Honestly, ive never heard of an ear infection being contageous!!!!!!!

Get your son's medical records. You can get a copy of his entire chart from birth to now to show that you take him to the dr for fevers/shots/ect. My son would get high fevers of 105 as a child due to ear infections. His pediatrician told me that if they weren't seeing me three times a month for these infections they would have just assumed I was leaving them untreated because of how severe they were. He finally got tubes in at 16mnths old and that stopped everything.

If anyone reports anything to child protective services, they have to check it out. If they didn't and something was really going on, well they would be liable. So if you are doing nothing wrong, then I would not worry too much (I know easier said than done!) Just be cooperative and be prepared. Kids get sick, especially kids in daycare settings. Is there anything else that may be causing your child to get sick more than usual? My daughter for example was sick every time I got her back from her father's house. Turns out people in the house were smoking. She was very sensitive to it. Thankfully he has moved out from those people, and her respiratory issues seem to be much less this year. So eliminate anything that you can, get some vitamins, keep kiddo up to date on vaccinations, and you both will be fine.

Münchhausen Syndrome is when the parent makes their child sick on purpose to get attention. "Oh your such a great mother for caring for such a sickly child"...
I used to work with child welfare as a social worker. We would get some BS calls and we would have to check them out. As long as everything checks out we were out of there and closed the case. BUT the complaint will stay on file and if more and more complaints come in about the same thing over and over again, then they will look more closely at it. I had 1 child on my case for medical neglect and this mother had a child born cocaine positive with sever asthma and a liver problem. She didn't take him to the specialists she was supposed to, didn't fill his meds, and never took him to his baby well checks. She would show up in the ER with him having a really bad asthma attack. We caught up with her sooner than most because I already had 7 of her other children on my case. For some un-GODLY reason the Judge didn't put this child on the order as soon as he was born. I ended up getting 9 of her children and 6 were adopted out. The 3 that weren't were old enough that they didn't want to be adopted and had visions of their mother coming back. YEAH RIGHT! (Sorry little off topic but I think you get the point)

They wont do anything. My ex health care provider done the same thing to me for my child being under-weight and they came into my home and evaluated. They did not find nothing wrong with my child. So dont worry about it. Kids do get sick and there is nothing you can do to prevent it. And most kids thats in Daycare get sick more than kids that stay at home. I took my son out of daycare because of the fact they dont watch what they do. I was finding other nipples on his bottles. And found him using another kids bottle. The Day Cares are the ones that need to be reported. HONESTLY!

Personally I don't have much faith in the system. It seems to me they harass the people that don't really have a problem and don't bother to even investigate the homes that have serious issues. I have a 7 year old niece that my little brother gets visitation with on the weekends. Ever other weekend when she is picked up they have to immediately do a lice treatment on her. She has had lice for two years straight now and had to have the horrible treatment every other weekend. My mom has called child protective services more that once and they say that there is nothing they can do about it. Obviously if they are willing to let lice go untreated for years what other kind of neglect is going on in the home and they just don't seem to care.
Just make sure that your home is clean and and a good environment for your child and hopefully all will be well. I would definitely look into finding a different day care provider if I were you though.
