My 16 month old has been having nosebleeds a few times a month since she turned one. They are always between 330-430 am, her first doctor was not concerned no matter how much i pushed (thought it was dry air) but i'm concerned. (taking her to a new doctor tmw). Wondering if anyone else has gone thru this?

I think you are doing the right thing to get her checked out. Just a thought, do you think she could be picking her nose in her sleep? I know it sounds crazy but I caught my oldest daughter doing this around the same age. She stopped after a few months of it. Good luck!

My son who is two has the same thing and it has to do with the nasel cavity being exposed to either to much heat or losing too much moisture and the simple solution for me was to hydrate as much as possible.

Could be allergies! That does go along with dry air- but also can have nothing to do with it. I know that I have allergies and get bloody noses constantly- in fact I used to get them every day!

(Also my older brother not to be gross but he picked his nose constantly and that was always giving him nosebleeds.) I think that you should go by what your doctor says and see if they eventually go away on their own.

This is not to scare you but nose bleeds can be a symptom of cancer if they are super frequent. A friend of mine had them a lot and it was because of cancer. So keep pushing the issue. You have a feeling something isn't right so keep pushing for test.

My son didn't have them, but I did. I had them most of the way through childhood and still get them occasionally as an adult. Mine usually occur between 3am & 5am.
Talk to the new doctor, but his is what caused mine. I have thin membrane in my sinuses and dry air, dust and pollen can all be abrasive enough to make it bleed. It is worse laying down, I don't remember why, but there is a reason--something about it being drier, not making as much mucus.....sounds gross, I know.
As a baby, my mother used a q-tip to coat the inside of my nose with Vaseline. Talk to your doctor before you try that though as putting too much can cause breathing problems and I don't even know if they recommend that anymore. Also, vitamin E inside the nose is helpful (and a little safer than the Vaseline). Lastly, Bioflavonoids (found in fruit but can also be taken by pill) have been found to be helpful in preventing them. Talk to your doc before giving her a pill though, just try to get a few extra servings of citrusy fruits in. Keep the humidifier going as well, it will not be enough on it's own, but they do help. For me, the hot mist ones work better, but only if you have a safe place to put it. Hope this helps, good luck with the new doc!

My sister kept getting nose bleeds when she was little and it turned out that she had something wrong with her Thyroid. (Not to scare you) but I think it is a good idea to get it checked out further. Also try putting vasiline in her nose with a Q-tip to help keep her nostrols "moist". That might help. I don't know if any of this is going to help by it wouldn't hurt

thanks! i did try the humidifier, and we haven't had the heat on in months. we even have the cool mist humidifier. my instinct tells me to keep digging i guess, there are always things that seem to precede the nose bleeds and something just feels off. the doctor didn't actually check her nose but since it was december when first brought up said dry air, so we did the humidifer everynight and they still happened even with no heat and the humidifier on all night. thank you though, that is great advice!

nope havent gone threw it but try putting a humidifer in her room and i bet that will help im sure it is cuz of a dry nose i say try it before you start to worry and spend money on a different dr to say the same thing what do you have in her room like we still have the heater in my sons room but i turn it off during the day cuz really its only overnight where it still gets kinda cold we also have a fan and then his cealing fan that is on but we have a humidfier its not on all the time just when needed but id honestly try it most of the reasons for a nose bleed is beacause of dryness or something happened or like maybe she was playing in her nose and she might have picked a vain but if your dr looked in her nose or she doesn stick her finger up her nose then most likely case is honestly dryness my 17 month old has figured out his nose and now has a little cut on the end but never hurt himself when he does that but id say try it for a few nights plus i forgot to say around the early mornings it gets pretty dry around and since its not an all the time all day long kind of thing i think her room is just really dry
