I always told my husband and he's a greed after the second baby if I had to go onto medicine for the diabetes there was no more kids regardless of the gender. So I was wondering if it hurts getting them done? Does it change your cycles?

To simply answer your question yes. You have to remember that it is surgery afterall and surgery does hurt. I had my tubes tied during my last c-section and the pain with the last one was worse then the 2 c-sections I had before. There is something else they can do that is not painful at all. I am not sure what it is called but they put something into your tubes and your tubes grow over it. They do not have to do surgery for that one. The reason why it hurts so much to when you have tubes tied is because they pump your stomach full of air, so afterwords you have alot of gas pains, and alot of times they will not let you leave the hospital until after you have passed gas.

Actually, periods will mos tlikely not stop. The eggs are released, they just don't continue on their path to the uterus, since the tubes have been disconnected. Most women will still develop their "normal" periods. It will not kickstart menopause or any other hormonal changes in the body.

I know a lot about this from a friend of mine - It would not hurt having it done as they would do it as an operation so you wouldn't feel a thing, but you can a bit sore after but not really painful. However be aware that complications can arise from having your tubes tied, periods generally stop as your eggs will no longer be released.

Did not know that it is far safer and easier for a man to have the procedure done instead? The risk of complications for men are virtually 0, the op can be reversed if cicrumstances change in the future and recovery time is much faster for men too. Just something to think about.

Hope all goes well whatever you both decide.
