Does your husband spend more time at work than with you?

My husband will accept overtime and per diem work from any of his three employers(any day of the week). We're financially stable and we live comfortably. So, could this be a phase?

I'm on the other end here. I am the bread winner in the family, and I work 40-48hrs a week on average. When I am asked to pull a double and work a 16hr shift, I agree to do it. I do not consult my husband at all. However, I will only work overtime during the week. I have every weekend off and will not sacrifice my time home with my husband and children to work weekends.

Since we've been together, we have never spent any holidays together. i know, without a doubt in my mind, that he will decide to spend Christmas at two of his work places. Why do these men take their families for granted?

Mine does that too. He'll get a call saying that some one is sick and he'll cover their shift or at least as much as he can. Luckily for us he can't work more than 40 hours. But as a supervisor he kind of has to take those hours.

This last summer he had two full time jobs plus one part time. I finally told him I couldn't handle it anymore and that he needed to cut back his hours.

He felt really bad. All he was thinking about was how we could save up and buy some things that we desperatly needed (like a desk and clothes for our daughter).

My husband works 40 hours a week so yes he does send more time at work then at home during the week. I think that any working person spends more time at work then at home. Since you're financially stable have you asked him why he chooses to accept overtime as opposed to spending time with his family? That may be a good place to start. Good luck!
