My daughter has been having a cough and a runny nose and she has a bad rash on her butt so i started complaining to her dr about it. the dr checked her out and told me that she was fine and that nothing is wrong with her and that the rash is just a yest infection. well my gut feeling told me different. so i took my daughter to my dr and come to find out my daughter has double pneumonia in her lungs and she has mrsa !! I was like omg this this cant be true. I have been telling that dr that its more then a rash for about 5 months now but she wouldnt listen to me..Now i am very pissed off about all of this. it all could have been stopped before it happend if the dr would have listened to me. I cant believe it. I have no idea how she got mrsa ! my dr has her on meds right now to try and treat it and im really worried about it ! and she is sick because of the double pneumonia ! I seen my daughters "old" dr yesterday at the ball park and i wanted to knock her head off her shoulders ! But i didnt say anything to her because i had my daughter with me and i didnt want her to see me get mean.. anyways do you know anyone with mrsa ? someone told me yesterday that i was a bad parent because my daughter has mrsa it really hurt my feelings. What could i have done to prevent her from getting it?

so sorry! but if something had happened to my kid for a prolongued period of time... personally I wouldn't wait longer than a month before taking her to another doctor. so you should keep this in mind next time something happens, because bacteria builds up in infected areas, which is what Mrsa is. so the fact she just had a prolongued period of pneumonia can cause the Mrsa...... so technically it could be the old doctors fault for not checking/catching it.. and partially no offense I hate to say this but because I would not have waited 5 months..... it's your fault too. Not a bad parent, but you should have seen someone else sooner. The person you talked to who called you a bad parent is an idiot because Mrsa can come out of no where at times, so they are being way too judgemental. The reason I'm judging is the fact you waited way too long for a second opinion. Good luck, hope she recovers well

Oh wow I am so sorry. That is not good. I honestly dont know a ton about mrsa but I did work with a girl a little while ago and her one year old daughter had it. It apparently is really contagious and most people get it from hospitals or if they recently had surgery or something. the co worker I worked with her daughter got it from the bath tub. Her uncle had it and took a shower in their bath tub. He knew he had it and didnt tell them. After his shower she gave he little girl a bath and that is how she got it. The uncle got it from a hospital where he had just recently had surgery. this girls little girl is just one and has had 6 surgeries in the past 6 months. She has it on her bum as well. I dont know how your little one got it but she could have got it from a similar situation if someone showered in your bathtub or something that had it. Or I dont know how else she could have got it unless she has been at the hospital recently. This girl I know said her doctor told her that 80 percent of shopping carts have mersa on them I dont know how contagious it is off a shopping cart. I always sanitize the cart before I use it.I dont know what you could have done to prevent it. Youre not a bad mother dont let anyone tell you that. Its sounds like just a freak thing that just happened to her.

This is not your fault, nor are you a bad mother. If it's anybodies fault for what your daughter is going through, its her doctor. Apparently she didn't do her job right by ANY means of the word. She didn't listen to your concerns and made up some BS and sent you on your way. Kudos to you for getting a second opinion. It probably saved your daughters life. If I were you, I'd look into filing a complaint against her former doctor. I hope your daughter has a speedy recovery!

I believe that MRSA is now becoming a more wide spread infection, it is now found outside of hospitals, for example it has recently been found in bedbugs.
MRSA is known as Staph (staf) infection because its name is actually Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus. hence the Staph.

My daughter had a boil on her bottom and i thought it was a pimple. they Cultured it and it came back positive for mrsa . My boyfriends niece has mrsa and i would ALWAYS make her wash her hands real good before she touched my daughter. I would stand there beside her while she washed her hands so i would know that they were clean. that is the only thing i can think how she got it.. Thank you everyone for your kind words. I have been really stressed out about this ! I have cleaned my house and i bleach everything daily now.. She goes back to the dr on the 20th and if she still has it they are gonna send her to a specialist to get it taken care of.

MRSA is a staff infection and ANYONE is susceptible. It's called a staff infection because people were getting it from staff at hospitals. That doesn't make you a bad mom.

I hope your little girl feels better soon.

oh and plenty of hand washing if your daughter has mrsa as it can spread easily!

did they swab ur daughter is that how thy diagnosed it as they cnt norm diagnose that unless its sent off to a lab? mrsa is generally a hospital aquired infection so has she come into contact with someone who has mrsa that may have recently been in a hosptal setting thats the only probable thing that i can think of! hope she gets better soon!

Cassie,
You are not a bad mother because your daughter got mrsa. who is bad is her doctor, she should have known what it was right away and it shouldnt have took you 5 months to get answers. i am so sorry and i hope your baby girl feels better soon!

People can catch mrsa at hospitals. Yes you would think they were the cleanest place right, well no they aren't. I know someone who had a baby at a hospital and the mom caught it in her "woman area". You didn't do anything wrong. Google it, it can explain more about it.
