my son's doc told me to use hydorcortizone cream & aquaphor (eucerin) lotion it took a day or so but his dry skin finally went away

never us soap on a baby if the baby isn't really dirty a warm wash rag or warm bath and use baby wipes to clean them good. also baby lotion not alot but a little daily helps

My daughter has eczema we use gentle natures, it has winnie the pooh on the box. you want lotion that is petroleum based and not water. 99% of lotions are water based

It is normal for newborns' skin to flake off - it doesn't mean anything is wrong and you don't need to put anything on it. It is just that being in the womb is a different environment from the outside world so they need to shed the top layer of skin. Using creams will probably just make it worse. Don't use any soap or anything on him - even the so-called 'sensitive' stuff - he doesn't need it. Use only tiny amounts of fragrance-free laundry soap when washing his clothes and blankets - like 1/4 of the usual amount because it can stay in the fabric and irritate the skin.

I use lansinoh nipple lanolin. It is 100% pure lanolin hand helps heal dry cracked sore nipples. It is fine to use on the baby because you dont have to wipe it off before feeding. It provides a nice protective coating so the baby's spit or other irritants can not bother the skin. My son's face and other dry skin areas healed up with in a couple days!

my daughter is very dry and all lotions made it worse even eucerine the only thing that helped was plain Vasoline!

hydrocortisone cream, it's available over the counter in a .5 (or .05 I can't remember) it's really good for exzcema so it works great for dry skin..

yes lotions only work like for the first oh few seconds use baby oil... it works the BEST it traps moisture in so its not dry i use baby oil for the baby and recently swiched from lotion to baby oil for myself...good luck

Have you tired Aveno for babies? I son had really dry skin on his legs and that seemed to help or diaper rash cream sound weird I know but that helped to.

My son had the same problem and I took him to the dermatologist. She put him on a steroid cream to control the rash and then as maintenance I used CeraVe cleanser and moisturizer. It is best to only bathe them once or twice a week if you can, because taking a bath really only makes the condition worse. I would suggest buying CeraVe it works great, a little expensive, but worth it! Definitely avoid any moisturizer or soap with fragrance... stick to hypoallergenic!!

eucerin cream!!!!! My son had the such dry/chapped cheeks. It is the only think I found that has worked. I am also in the nursing field and we use it A LOT. You can get it over the counter and any brand will work.

My son had the same problem at that age. My doc suggested Eucerin Cream which worked wonders! Good luck :)
