I just had emergency surgery on monday to remove an ectopic pregnancy and my ruptured tube. I want to know if any of you have been through this and what comes next as far as fertility and periods go

First off I wanna say sry for your loss:( I dont know about the fertility after but I do know for a fact that your period should not change at all after getting a tube removed. Last july I had a tubal ligation( they burned my tubes) and I found out that your tubes have nothing to do with periods vs what almost all of us were told about it growing up. As long as you have your uterus you will get a period unfortunatley.

I had surgery that went quite wrong.. (30 minute liproscopic surgery turned into 2 and a half hour surgery with a full c-section scar and 4 days in the hospital), I had to wait 3 months for a drug they used prior to my surgery to get out of my system but I got pregnant a couple of months after that with no issues. You are more likely to end up with a C section if you don't wait longer after surgery but in terms of carrying your embryo there is no need to wait according to the OB's I talked to.

i had an ectopic that eliminated by itself. the docs told me to wait a bit ( at least one month) and then it should be ok to try again.
from what i know in case of surgery you should wait about 6 months and then get checked out and if the things are ok you can try again with no problem on getting pregnant... but it may take a while to do it, now that the chances dropped at 50%...

I figured that it would be something like what you all are saying and while I'm not actively trying to get pregnant for the time being I'm glad that it is still possible even if it takes a little longer. Thank you to everyone who replied because just like everything else with motherhood or parenting you dont realize how common things are until you have to go through them.

I have been thru this about 6 years ago. It was the hardest thing for me to deal with but it does get better. My periods was the same as any other time but getting pregnant was a different storie. Since you will only release one fertile egg every other month it is difficult to pin point when it will happen. I since then had three beautiful baby boys

It is possible that when your body realizes that only one side has a tube, the other ovary may produce an egg each month. You will have another baby, and everything will be fine. Your fertility should not be affected at all, these things are usually just bad luck, not genetics, so your chance of it happening again is slim.

I was 12 weeks as well and it took two cycles to get pregnant again as well. Your periods are pretty much the same. The only difference is that you can only gay pregnant 6 months of the year due to ovulation being on one side and than the other. Good luck to you and know that it happens more often than you think.

That's encouraging to hear I'm so glad that you were able to conceive again. They caught mine when I was less than a week pregnant.

I'm so sorry for your lost.

A year ago this past May I had an ectopic pregnancy, where the baby was in my ovary. I had emergency surgery to remove the pregnancy and my tube. We started trying again in August and after two cycles I was pregnant again.
