My son is 15 weeks old and about a week ago i noticed he was getting a rash. It started to get worse so i took him to his Pediatrician and he said it was Eczema. I put lotion on him in the morning and a night every day. I'm just wondering if any of your kids have Eczema and what you used that actually worked?

My son has eczema. He got it from me. He used to be so bad it looked like he had chemical burns. We tried everything and then my sister in law suggested Life Essentials Base Cream. It has worked wonders on him. Also, put a few drops of Tea Tree Oil in his bath. Just a few drops, though, 'cause it can be bad if he ingest too much. Also, try not to use anything with fragrances in it. It can really irritate his skin. Washing all of the laundry in a fragrance free detergent and double rinsing everything also helps. The good thing about the Base Cream is that it is over the counter, I believe....Let me know how it goes because it has really helped my son. Feel free to add me on here or facebook; Jessica Joulie if you have anymore questions. We've been through it all. lol

Hi:) I understand what you are going through w/ your baby. My baby girl is 17 weeks old, and she has had eczema since she was 6 weeks old. The pediatrician told me to use a moisturizing lotion that didn't have any scent to it. I started using Aveeno Daily lotion, and aveeno hydrocortizone cream for her face. The cream works great on her face, but the lotion not so much. So I went back to the Dr. and she prescribed some lotion for her that I have to put on 3 times a day and cream for her dry patches that I have to put on twice a day, and it works great! Good luck:)

his dr. said to try Cetaphil Aquafore or Hyrocortizone. I just wants too see what other people had already tried that worked just so i dont have to use a whole bunch of different things on him. I think ill try the Hyrocortizone cream first. Thanks!

I read Kristen's comment and I meant that cream not the Aquaphore. And the cream she stated.

You need to stop using all the lotions and baby soap. By a lye soap and use it instead. This should help clear the eczema up or most of it. Hope this helps!

My son has just been diagnosed with eczema too. I used the cream the doc prescribed for 4 weeks and it seemed to clear a bit. And i have recently changed his body wash and shampoo and now use Aveeno body wash shampoo and moisturiser and his ezcema has cleared for now. I dont use any soap on him of perfumes this seems to have done the trick.

My son has it too. After baths, on all of his outbreaks I put hydrocortisone cream on them. Then Eucrine cream over that. The Eucrine cream keeps in a lot of moisture. Doing that I have not had to change laundry detergent, soap or anything. Wilde's doctor said it should go away as he gets older. So far, she is right. He is 16 months old and He only gets his spots at weather changes.

What kind of lotion are you using? Some lotions will make the Eczema worse. Make sure the lotion is free of all perfumes and alcohol. Aquafore is a great lotion, your son's pediatrician should have went over this with you and given you a prescription for a cream. My god daughter is now 5yrs old and has pretty bad Eczema, my best friend (god daughter's mother) has to get a cream from the pediatrician. She also had to use a mild soap and water for every diaper change (not sure if your son's diaper area is affected as well). What type of detergent do you use? Try a "FREE" detergent and use a small amount. She actually ended up hand washing her daughters clothes. Not sure where you are, but at WalGreens there is a green bottle of Eczema lotion and I believe they even have a soap too, it has like a little teddy bear and looks like the outdoors. That seemed to work for her. If his diaper area is affected by it you may want to try using Pamper's Sensitive, Huggie's Pure & Natural, or cloth diagers, I have to use Pampers sensitive or Huggies Pure & Natural for my son's sensitive skin.
I hope something here helps.
