She's going through a growth spurt - please don't use rice cereal at this age. The spurt can last anywhere from 1 night - a week.

I just asked the doctor about giving my 2 month old cereal. He said to hold off on giving anything but formula or breast milk until at least 4 months of age. Giving a baby cereal early on (unless your doctor said its okay) or babyfood can cause serious allergies and health problems and also cause eczema. So I would wait for another month or talk to you doctor if you think your baby is ready.

With my oldest two children, they were ready to start eating rice cereal mixed with breast milk by the time they were 3 months. My youngest wasn't ready until she was closer to 5 months. It really just depends on the baby. As for drinking water and juice, I didn't start giving that to my children until they were about 9 months old and starting on a sippy cup. Breast milk and/or formula are all they really need. Talk to your doctor and see what he/she recommends.

i gave my daughter who will be 6 htis summer small amounts of baby applesauce mixed with just a littel cereal and formula...it helped fill her up at nigt and i did the same with my son who will be 3 in june...it depends on oyu and your baby and what oyu decide to do...i was on cereal and formula at 3 wks old cuz i wasnt eating enough and im perfectly healthy now...and whoever above said drs dont prescribe juice to a 2 month old is incorrect...my daughter was a little constipated so her dr told me to give her prunes (just a small spoonful) or a little bit of apple or pear juice (unwatered down)...i gave my daughter and son very watered down juice at about 3 1/2 months but mind you both of my children were rather large and my son grew like crazy...its something you need to talk to your doctor about and decide for yourself though :) everybody has their opinions and you will always be criticized for something you do or dont do by someone its to be expected... :) hope that helped

All a 3 month old needs is breastmilk or formula. Solids generally start between 4-6 months. Start slow and don't force it. If baby still has the tongue thrust (stick something in baby's mouth and baby sticks out tongue) it's still too early.

I don't know what your ped will tell you but ours told us about 4 months to start with rice cereal & once the baby takes that well to ease into other cereals & baby oatmeals. They should not be getting juice for a while nor milk. At this point your baby should only be getting formula or breast milk. Also at 4 months our ped wanted our son to get 1 oucne of water a day from a cup not bottle to start the transition. He was very clear that nothing should be in a bottle unless it was formula or breastmilk.

that's why it's important to ease into things. avoid gassy or sugary foods first, and see how your baby does. my son has never had any digestive problems or allergies and he's eaten everything i've eaten since 5 months of age, and we started him at 3. now at 16 months, there's nothing he won't eat, and he's the healthiest kid out of all my friends. his pediatrician always comments on how remarkable his health and development is. a mother knows her child, and every child is different. what works for one may not work for another. it's all trial and error.

Avoiding solids until 6 months is not just to help avoid food allergies, but feeding solids too early can also cause digestive problems.

Every baby is different, and they all need different things. I have a friend of mine who's son didn't start on solid food until he was a year old. Our son, however, was 10 lb 3 oz when he was born, and he was born 3 weeks early! The poor boy was growing so fast, we had to start him on solid foods at just about 3 months. We got a lot of negative feedback because of it, but you know what's best for your baby, and you do what's best for them. He's thrived and done so well, and he's suffered absolutely no food allergies so far.

About 5 or 6 years ago doctors were telling mothers to abstain from solid foods until at least 6 months, because the sooner you introduce foods the higher the chances are of food allergies. I always thought that was a silly notion, and about a year ago they actually turned around and started saying the SOONER you introduce foods, the better the chances are that a child won't have any allergies. I would still stay away from chocolates and nutts and peanut butter and things of that nature, because those are very common allergies.

We didn't give our son any juices until about 6 months when he started using a sippy cup. Before that he drank only breast milk. We did give him a number of pureed foods however; up until about 4 months he only ate veggies. I would steam them and puree them myself, and he did great with all of them. At around 4 months we started doing some fruits, we'd puree those up and use them as a snack and desert. At 5 months we incorporated meats, just chicken at first, and we'd puree it up with some chicken broth to smooth it out. He's always been extremely healthy, and he's developed at a rate much faster than most children we know. I'm not sure if it's as a result from the diet we gave him, but I don't know anyone else who ever fed their children the same way, either.

no food. no juice. only formula every 2 to 4 hours around the clock. even at night. she should be drinking 8 to 10 oz per feeding.

no solid food until at least until 5 to 6 months old. no juice until 9 months and only 4 oz a day. and then they still eat every two hours. your baby is too little to eat anything else. your baby's brain and body needs all the nutrition it can get to grow healthy and to have a healthy brain. before six months of age their bodies cannot adsorb nutrients from juice or baby food. when you give her those things instead of a bottle, her body is missing those vital nutrients and it can affect her IQ and brain development and body. formula is just liquid, of course they will drink a lot of it! your baby can tell you what she needs, listen to it and feed her more formula.

also at this time her vision has just fully developed and so has her hearing, so she is going to have a harder time falling asleep, because she will be so distracted. so instead, she will act like she is hungry and want to suck for comfort... she will look like she is hungry, but is really fussy and tired. she will take bottle, suck, cry, suck, cry. she is really just trying to go to sleep and is trying the first thing that comforts her because she doesn't know how to put herself to sleep yet. this is an excellent time to start putting her in her crib when she is fed, burped, changed, and tired to learn how to fall asleep on her own. i usually let mine cry for 10 to 15 minutes and they would pass right out. after a few times they stopped crying and would go straight to bed because they learned how to put themselves to sleep. it is easy to mistake hungry for tired. at that age they can't stay up longer than 1 1/2 to 2 hours during the day and need to nap 2 to 3 times a day. their longest awake time is in the evening for 3 hours usually around dinner time. the second they yawn rub their eyes you should be putting her to bed. is it possible you are misreading your baby's cues?

Just sounds like a growth spurt. All 3 of my kids slept through the night ( 6-8 hours) by the time they were 2 months old, but when they were having a growth spurt they would usually wake up once at night for an extra feeding. It will only last a week or two.
Juice for a child under 6 months just sounds way too soon. Milk or formula is all they need right now.

Sleep patterns will change frequently in the first year of life due to teething, illness, growth spurts, etc. A 3 month old only needs breast milk or formula.

Just a little FYI Katie: It's been proven that rice cereal DOES NOT help a baby to sleep longer and putting rice cereal into a bottle is a choking hazard. I've never known a doctor to suggest giving a 2 month old juice...that's just nuts!

At 2 months? Only breastmilk and if you aren't breastfeeding formula only. 2 months old is SUPER young to give ANYTHING else.

Everyone has her own opinons but i mean if u are ok with trying it, try giving her the baby spoon full of cereal in her formula bottle for her bedtime bottle, some people say it works to help them sleep longer cause they stay full longer, it never worked on my daughter lol, but my fiancees brothers girlfriend does it for my nephew and he sleeps like an angel

Cereal in the bottle can be a choking hazard. It's up to you if you want to take that chance.

Yeah juice for a 2 or 3 month old is definitely not good. By 4 months you can give a couple of ounces of water.

no !! fist 4-6 month should only be the milk , around 4 month u can give him very litt cereal ( i would say a small bowl of cearea ) he might only take a few bites out of it , and then juice i did half and half , ( 2 oz juice 2 oz water ) also a lot of mommy will say NOT to do this but i did , the last bottle u give him at night put about 11/2 oz of cereal in the bottle it will be a litt heavy on his tummy so he might sleep a litt longer at night , if u need anything i can help just wright to be ..

It could be that she is going through a growth spurt and that's why she is waking through the night and she wasn't before. It is normal for a 3 month old to wake at night for a feeding though. Maybe try just feeding her a little bit more before bed.

At 3 months old, sometimes i would put like a baby spoon full of baby cereal into my daughters bottle to help fill her up a little more. And as far as juice i would like once a week give my daughter like a 3-4oz bottle of watered down apple or pear juice...she loved it. Doctors say not to til they are 6 months. but once a week wasnt alot, she loved it, and shes 18 months now and super healthy....good luck:) And enjoy your bundle of ove..they grow up fast!

To be honest in what is best for your baby, a 3 month old should just stick to formula or breast milk. This is all they need.
