Feeling baby kick without being pregnant?!

So, I'm 24 & have a 2 year old son. I'm not pregnant. I do not have any symptoms of pregnancy or any gastrointestinal problems.

In the past few weeks, I have started having a feeling in my stomach like a baby is kicking (like around the mid-way mark when you first start to feel the baby). I have Googled this and everything I find about it says the person feels it only near their belly button. Mine is everywhere, near my ribs, very VERY low in my pelvis, on the left side, on the right side... anywhere you felt your baby kick while pregnant, I feel this.

It's not a "phantom pregnancy" where I "want" to be pregnant so my body thinks I'm pregnant & shows signs.

I've taken several HPT's and all are negative. I'm out of town until the end of July so I can't go to my doctor about it till then.

Anyway, my question is this,,, does anyone else have this issue? Does anyone know what it is?

And I do not think it is gas, because it just started in the past few weeks AND I'm not gassy. I'm just trying to find ideas on what it could be or talk to others who have this problem until I can get to the doctor.

Well, Mandi, is strange to hear such but i may strong suggest u see the Gynaecologist as fast as possible. I once had such and with pregnancy symptoms all together but i did not bother much because it was just for a short while and later everything stopped. But if yours persists, then go for check-up. Hope this will help. Good luck.

Ive actually felt alot of things like that, strange movement in my side, or a bump on my bladder, and when I spoke to my doctor she told me it was the food in my intestines, and gas, even though like you, im not gassy, its just gas bubbles inside you that are causing the movement, and you've probably always had them, but you never noticed them until now, because now you know what it feels like to have a baby kicking you. My Dr told me, that bc ur body now knows how it feels, that anything that is similar in motion will make you think baby movement, just like they tell you when you get pregnant that the feeling of the baby moving, will feel like gas bubbles. Hope this helped a little bit. Even though you might not think its gas.... it really could be, and ur mind is just connecting it to the baby...

I've had these since my twins were born 15 months ago - it's gotta be phantom pregnancy symptoms, I figure, because we've gone through an adoption and IVF with donor sperm, and I'm definitely not pregnant (infertility and negative HPT's help), so that's gotta be it.

After I had my first child I had these same "kick" feelings and it was the weirdst feeling ever, it started when my son was only a few weeks old and kept on going right through until he was 2 years old and I got pregnant again with number two, my second baby is now 7 weeks old and i have not felt them again and I am kind of hoping that they won't come back again this time well not until baby number 3 is on the way. I would still talk to your doctor when you get back home and maybe book in for an ultrasound just to make sure nothing is going on there.

I get this all the time. Its normal, I talked to the dr. about it a few yrs, back after having my 2nd and he said it can be nerves or gas. lol I was freaking out for a while too bc I knew I wasn't pregnant, but I've been fine and he claimes it's normal so I wouldn't be too concerned unless you have other symptoms occuring along w/ it. ;)

I have a 2 and a half year-old and an 8 month old and every now and then, especially after the birth of my daughter, I get feelings like this as well. I am on Mirena and have no reason to suspect pregnancy. I would tend to believe they are just muscle spasms too. They come one randomly and with no rhyme or reason and often as quickly as it starts, it is gone. Strange cause it reminds me so much of being pregnant. You can get checked out when you get home, because you could be pregnant, but likely you are not.

I had those exact issues for two years! finally it increased in to a pain in my chest. turns out it was gallstones and i had to have my gallbladder removed 2 months ago. i had no other symptoms (until the pain started,) no gas, could eat anything. so even though you think its not gastrointestinal, it very well may be.

I've had two kids and between both pregnancies I have felt what felt like baby kicks, it was usually gas or muscle spasms etc. It would always make me nostalgic and anxious for things to get rolling so we could start trying. I haven't been pp long enough (my ds2 is barely 7 weeks) to feel these again, but I imagine I will soon.

I actually have that too. I tease my husband sometimes and tell him I am prego! lol If I lay down and put something on my stomach, the object actually moves. I'm not sure what it is. I've never even asked my doctor. If you think you could be prego though, I would go to a hospital or something nearby just so you can find out. Good luck!

OMG!!! I thought I was stupid when I thought this same thing happened to me!! I feel kicks in my lower abdomen around my pelvis. I don't know what it is... but it feels just like a baby kicking. I have also been producing a glue like milk substance that expresses from my nipples. I have taken pregnacy test upon pregnancy test and i have went to my doctor but have gotten little to no knowledge on the subject... Please post when you find out what is going on! Good luck!

i had this symptom awhile back..... i was not pregnant.... dr.s and everybody said i was crazy..... they did do an ultrasound and blood tests ... but still nobody believed me that i felt this they said it was all in my head.... they just make u feel like shit.... i agree w/ everyone its probably muscle spasms from being pregnant in the past, i too at the time had an IUD (mirena) i hated it and took it out and after that no problems since until now that i'm pregnant again w/ my 4th child..... good-luck

wow i thought i was going mad and wanting another baby too much when i had these flutterings and kick feelings. ive had 4 kids and 2 misscarrages. the youngest is 5 and ive wanted another bub since my misscarrage 2 years ago. on the ultrasound after the misscarrage they did find a cyst so im hoping its not something wrong with that as to why i feel the kicks or musle spasims since ive found out this week that im pregnant again not far enough for kicking but i still feel it.

My husband didn't trust HPTs! Th first one he swore it was "half a line" and i had to do blood tests twice to confirm (i was 3 weeks along when i foun out i was pregnant). My son is now 2. I get phantom kicks every now and then. I was so convinced I was pregnant i asked the dr to check! I am not. I did, however, realize they get stronger when i go through my "I want another baby" moment. It could be your body readjuating itself or ur subconcious trying to tell u something ;) good luck!

I wouldn't really stress about it. My youngest is 7 and I still feel the "kicks". It is often very strange but nothing comes of it.

You are feeling gas and perhaps food moving about in your intestines. This isn't anything to worry about and just because you aren't gassy it doesn't mean there Kent any in there.
Hope this helps x

i've kind of had the same but doesnt sound like mine is as strong or frequent. i think we're just more aware of our body and can just feel stuff moving inside or something. i don't know just my guess to why i feel them too

Hi! I am 31 years old and have a 10 year old daughter...only been pregnant that one time and I kid you not, I STILL feel "kicks" like that as well! Sometimes I even try to watch to see if I can see these "kicks" thru my stomach! It feels very weird, but I know what you mean...oh and I am VERY much NOT pregnant too! Lol I guess if it continues, just see your doctor to be sure:)

I've been having the feeling feeling of a baby kicking sinse my daughter was 3 or 4 months old, she is now 22 months. I don't get them all the time but they come every so often n it always worries me but Ik I'm not pregnant, I've had two hormone checks in the since november. I think it's just my organs moving or something bc If touch parts of my belly It feels like a baby n I can shift them like one. It might not be pregnacy, like in my case, but u should just get a blood test to check.

i get those too! wow...i thought it was just me!!! i used to panic and think i was pregnant, but then i laugh it off because im not having sex lol ....but thanks for this post! now i feel better about my lil spasms

[deleted account]

I have these. Recently..like twice in the last two months I've also felt like I'm having contractions...and feel pressure in my groin..it's insane...idk what the deal is. I could always be pregnant but I'm pretty sure if I were and were having that sensation..they baby would have been here by now. I am on mirena though so the chance isn't as great as on the pill. I wouldn't mind to have another one and there's several people I know that have babies so maybe alot of it is in my head? But the kicks I've always had. I think some people don't really pay attention to them until after having a baby. This will sound really funny but I remember lying on my trampoline when I was in 5th or 6th grade and my stomach would do these kicks (digestion) and I honestly was freaking out thinking I was pregnant..of course at that age there was no way I had even had sex..I obviously didn't completely understand but hey...I got the concept.

I get it all the time... and I challenge anyway to say I could be pregnant without knowing - I haven't had sex in four and a half YEARS since escaping my violent husband so absolutely no chance of pregnancy

I have had the same weird thing going on occasionally, and have concluded it is one of two things each time: a) gas, or just the natural digestive process, almost like part of my intestines feel crimped and food has to squeeze through. Or b) muscle spasms. I would definitely get checked though! Good luck!

LOL this happened to me after having my son totally freaked me out i asked my doctor and he told me it was my intestines moving back and yes it was over a year after having my son. But it felt so much like kicks it took me awhile to believe him lol it lasted around four months and then went away. So dont worry all the things they never tell us hay.

You can still get pregnant on the pill, btw! I did four times. Don't assume you're not pregnant if that's your only reason for thinking you're not! The pill can make miscarriage and birth defects more likely if taking it while pregnant, so I'd double check with a preg. test to make sure!

I can not imagine not knowing at 38 weeks, or anything around 20. I would make an apt as soon as you get home and let us know what happens. There are also false negative tests too!

I had these when my friend was pregnant sympathy kick and turns I'd only just had my beautiful daughter. I remember saying oh my god that hurt and she said yeah that twisted and turned I thought I was going mad but no sympathy kicks :-s and all the rest of it, bizarre!!

[deleted account]

I got it a LOT after my daughter was born, it lasted about 6 months. Once I got pregnant with this current one, I would feel kick-like movements in my entire abdomen. I finally noticed that they were muscle spasms (I could see part of my stomach tightening). Now I am pregnant, but at the time I was maybe 6 weeks... there wouldn't be any kicking, let alone near my ribs.

Your body changes a lot while pregnant, and stuff gets all moved around and you become more sensitive to things going on in your body. It sounds normal to me, I have that all the time, but it doesn't hurt to go see your doctor when you get back to town. HPT's have been known to give false negatives well into pregnancy, and it could be nothing, but it could be something that needs attention. (have you ever seen that show on tv?) but most likely it's nothing, but I would call your doc today and schedule an appt for when you return.

I had the same thing, I ended up having a very large cyst on my ovary (over 2kgs!) I could feel it moving. It was gross. I would say it is most likely muscle spasms though.

I have this aswell. I do think its muscle spasms, because there is no way I am pregnant. I am on the implant, and have just had my period. Its so weird having it, cause it does really feel like theres a baby there. Its not just you :) Ive never been to the doctors about it though. I dont see the need really.

I had these baby kicking feelings and ended up not being pregnant. I think they were just muscles spasms because like you, I wasn't gassy. They came and left for a few weeks and dissapeared. I did get pregnant 6months later and had no clue until I was 11 weeks pregnant. I was loosing weight, feeling great, and the only reason I took a test was b/c my husband swore I was pregnant. I figured i'd take the test to prove him wrong so he'd quit bugging me lol. I had no idea at all, no one else I worked with either.
