Finding out the sex....or not???

I went ahead and found out what we were having. My husband didn't want to know but I really did. My family has 4 daughter and no sons and my dad had been calling my baby his grandson. On my husband's side of the family, there are 1 nephew and 3 nieces and the girls have been born the last 3 pregnancies. I wanted to see if we were going to have the next boy or if the line of girls are going to continue. When we went into the ultrasound, the tech asked if we wanted to know and I said yes. When we looked, our baby has legs wide open and the tech told me, "penis and scrotum right there"!!! I was so shocked but I was also really happy. I call my son his name right now but my husband still uses his nickname of Panini. It's really up to what works for the 2 of you. I was lucky that my husband when ahead and found out with me.

It's going to be a suprise no matter what! You could make a big deal of it the day you go to find out. Maybe invite friends or family to wait in the waiting room at the doctor's office or meet you for lunch afterwards and make it a day of celebration. You don't have to wait until the day you give birth to be suprised. Also, I don't know about you but I was going crazy in the "nesting" stage, wanting to set up the nursery, buy clothes, pick out names, etc. So I don't see how you can wait. If hubby wants to wait until the day of... he can wait. Tell him he's just not allowed to go into the nursery until after the baby. LOL.

we went through the same thing. i really wanted to know. mostly so i could prepare and plan for what i wanted and needed. BUT if you decide to do it it is a very magical experience. but i am going to recommend you get a 3D4D done in addition to whatever your doctor does. my doc did two regular ultra sounds and both times he said girl. but when he delivered the baby it was a BOY! SO ALL MY PLANNING WAS WORTHLESS. The only thing i was able to use was my stroller and my crib everything else was girl stuff.

When I was pregnant with my son I had the same feeling of weather I should know if its a boy or girl. But I also knew that if I would have told them I want it to be a suprise I would have been over analyzing my sonogram pictures and trying to figure out if I could tell myself. In the end I wanted to know if I should plan for pink or blue. Some people just buy a lot of yellow. What you should really ask yourself is how much do you enjoy the color yellow...

I decided to wait as it was £50 to find out the sex at my hospital...if they had asked me at my 20 weeks scan if i wanted to know i would have said "yes" but we managed to use the £50 for some fabulous baby bits.

with my first we wanted to find out i wanted to know so badly but she was hiding and we couldn't and we had three ultrasounds! i am know pregnant with my second and i loved the surprise that i don't want to know again this time my boyfriend is a different story he really wants to know for him its about being more prepared and he can tell people thats what were having. so we cam to the conclusion that if we can find out then he can cause i don't want to know.. he just can't tell anyone so it doesn't come back to me and if he buys anything gender oriantated that that also has to be a surprise for me after.. and if i decide i want to know he can tell me.. im concerened that if they tell me that they may not be a hundred percent sure

I haven't had this problem! We both really wanted to know. My major thing was knowing that I had a fully stocked and decorated nursery ready to go for when the baby came home. If you have a wonderful support group that will help you get the nursery finished and will help go shopping for you once the baby arrives, then a surprise might be something fun to do!! However, it was really nice knowing when I brought my baby home everything was perfect and ready for her. =) Good luck with your decision making!

i didnt find out the sex of my 1st but i did find out with the 2nd and i wished i had waited.when my 1st daughter was born it was my husband who told me the sex but with the 2nd the doctor told us.i thought when my husband told me it was much more personal.when we have our next baby il not find out.its worth the wait!

Hello! I am waiting for the suprise. I am having a schedule C-sec because they are so close togeathor. With my son, my man knew I didn`t. (He went to medical school and could read the ultrasound. ) A cute story when I was 8 months pregnant and he knew and I didnt. He went shopping one day and my curiousity got the best of me and i snooped in one of his bags. I pulled out a pair of blue socks . I went Oh my God!!! A Boy! So i dug in he bag again and there was a pair of pink socks!!! lol He`s said i desearved it for being snoopy!!!

This time again I have no idea. I am guessing a second boy but I dont know! With the C sec this gives me something to really take my mind away while being ripped open.

wit my last baby i didnt want 2 know but my man did coz we really wanted a girl after hav boys & when we went 4 our scan they could tell us so we had 2 wait & by the time i got 2 7months it was drivin me mad not knowin but when i gav birth it was the happyest we both cryed coz it was a girl

knowing the sex of your baby before they are born doesnt ruin the suprise at all.
it is such a beautiful and joyfull occassion, that nothing can ruin it!

i chose to find out the sex of my baby mostly because im a control freak and wanted to know EXACALLY what was going on through my pregnancy. i think it help my husband to bond with our duaghter during the pregnancy as he could talk to her like a real person rathan than calling her by a gender neutral nick name.

I waited.... after a long labour it was that little bit extra to keep me going! It was the best thing i did not finding out the sex of my baby, and lovely texting people with the sex, weight etc.. rather than he/she has arrived!! When i have another i wont be finding out, its meant to be a suprise..... and it was the best ever finding out it was a girl! I know its alot easier to find out the sex when it comes to buying everything but babies look sooo cute in white and cream... and its an excuse to go shopping with your new little one!! (and if you ever have another baby you can re-use all the white and cream things!) hope all goes well!!

Oh as for my babies nursey i knew the colours i wanted either way (which pink/blue) and as my baby was going to be in our room i waited to buy the paint and decorate. Also the furniture i had wanted was a lovely white set that went with both of my themes.

My husband and i did not find out with either of our two and i liked the surprise that comes with giving birth. It is of course just our preference, and yes i was tempted during my first pregnancy. My friends kept saying but then you won't be able to get the right things! The right things i asked them - clothes won't be the right colour they replied! I laughed as i had a few lovely 'nuteral' clothes and as for things i may have wanted to be pink or blue they were things i was happy to buy after the birth.
Plus you should have seen all the things my family brought to the hospital when my daughter was born and things they arrived at my home with for my son (he was born at home).
Its just my personal opinion but as long as at each scan and appointment they were telling me how healthy my baby was i was just happy to wait.

Well my husband and I both wanted to know the sex. Our first was a girl and the second was a boy. But if he didn' t want to know and I wanted to know then I would just find out for myself and don't tell anyone else. Good luck!!!

My husband teased me about wanting to wait.

I don't have the self control to wait until the baby is born if I don't have to! We found out with our first, and when he was born I was still filled with tears and excitement just to see his face! It would be cool to have that extra little(HUGE) suspense during that last 20 weeks of pregnancy though:) With this one I don't want to wait eitiher... I want to know if I need to start buying girl stuff or not!

i had decided that i wanted to wait and see what they baby was when born, but the day of my 20wk appointment my partner and i walked into the sono room and said in unison that we wanted to know, my partner took one look at the sono and said "ITS A BOY!!!! I CAN SEE HIS WILLIE" i burst inot tears as i thought we were having a girl but then those tears turned to tears of joy knowing that my partner now had some blood relatives.

Same situation with our family. I couldnt decide if I wanted to know and he did NOT want to know. 'so few surprises left in life...' I had the doctor write the sex of the baby on a piece of paper for me before we left...I waited a few days and couldnt wait anymore! so I looked. lol. And I just have to keep the secret to myself for another 20 weeks! (Same with my first born...I found out and never tipped him off)

I wasn't going to find out...but when I started searching in stores/online for nursery decor, clothes, and registry ideas I could not find anything neutral that I liked! I am a huge planner so with not being able to find anything that was just right for my baby I just had to know. I did opt not to do the 3d ultrasound because I did want something to be a surprise and she came out as beautiful as ever. If your hubby insists then maybe the day of your sonogram the doctor/tech can only allow you to know. However, my best friend wanted it to be a surprise and when she went in for her 20week there was no way you couldn't tell she was having a boy lol. My other friend wanted to find out and each sonogram the baby would not cooperate so sometimes things just happen for a reason :)

i never found out with either of my children i think it take's away the exitment for everyone else not just you and ur husband,and belive me it's the best suprise you'll ever have.also when you have your baby your husband can ring all your family memebers with the exiting new's,i think men like that.
it drives you mad not knowing but it's worth it in the end,plus you'll get so many thing's bought for your baby when it's here you wont need to buy it a pink/blue thin till it's about 3 months xx

I couldnt wait to find out the sex of my baby.... I think it helps if you dont have alot of money to find out the sex... Also its more fun to shop in my opinion if you know the sex... And decorate, if your a big lover of themes like I am, its easier to pick a theme if you know

I couldn't wait to find out the sex of my baby, i'm not that patient. I wanted to shop for all the cute clothes and i'm glad that i did because if i didn't know i wouldn't have been able to buy all the cute girl clothes. We'll probably find out for the next one too. After we found out the sex of the baby it made the pregnancy more real to my husband and he finally got really excited.

well....with my first my hubby just had to know so i gave in. but with my second we didn't find out! can i tell you that it was the most exciting thing EVER!!!!!!!!!! when that baby came out my hubby yelled on the top of his lungs-it's a boy! it made him wish that he didn't push to find out the sex of our first. it also made me wish i had put my foot down and waited too-we had a girl. either way it's so exciting to have a baby-congrats!!

i have 3 kids and i never found out what they were... i just had a baby shower shortly after they were born.. it was very exciting to find out at the last moment and when you meet your child for the first time!

I always wanted to know the sex of my babies. It helps alot with purchasing clothes and stuff before the baby is born. I knew someone who didn't know and they got all green and yellow for their baby shower, and she ended up having a girl. She hated that she'd go to the stores and people thought the baby was a boy. Besides it's hard to find neutral clothing for babies. There are alot of women at my church who choose not to know the sex and I just bought them diapers and wipes and bath supplies, and waited until the baby was born before buying them bibs and clothing. If you have a girl you will want to dress her in girly things.

OMG yes, i totally wanted the sex to be a surprise, but my husband wouldn't let me, he insisted we found out the gender asap, so what I did was, find out the gender & not tell anybody. my baby shower is on October 24th & when friends start receiving their baby shower invitation that is when they will know what I'm having :)

There's no way I'd be able to wait. I'm currently pregnant with number 3 and cannot wait for the ultrasound. With my first I bought a lot of neutrals before we found out, then we found out she was a girl. I don't think she even wore half the neutrals because she looked so pretty in pink and purple. Not only that, I like being able to call the baby by name, it makes me feel more connected to him/her. Although, my husband is trying to convince me to make this one a surprise.....I doubt it will work though.

I had to know what i was having so i love to shop and there isnt that much that is for boy and girl sooo i found out and went shopping threw out my pregnancy and then i wouldnt have to run out and shop right after i had my baby!!!

This is my third baby and with my other two we found out but since we now have one of each we thought that it would be fun not to find out the sex....however the closer it gets to my due date the harder I'm finding it....I see all the cute clothes and would love to buy something for the baby but gender nuetral clothes just arent as cute!!!!! I even went through a couple of months where I didnt feel as connected to the baby and that was hard! I dont think that I would ever let it be a surprise again.....but who knows

I agree with Sandy...it was the greatest anticipation in the delivery room waiting for the doctor to tell us what it was! BOY! And it's true, you get much more practical gifts at the shower and then LOTS of great presents after the baby comes too because everyone is so excited to go shopping for gender specific things. I would advise you to keep it a surprise if you can. We plan on doing that for our next one as well...Good luck!

We found out, because we wanted to be prepared! I am one of those mom's who loves to shop for clothes and I really just HAD to know! Plus my hubby wanted to know, so we found out. I didn't mind knowing the sex, because there was still other things to look forward to. As one other mom mentioned, you don't know the appearence! That was what got me through the end! I wanted to see and hold my little girl so bad that it just made the pushing that much easier! Good luck with your little one, and with regards to your question... do what feels right to you:0)

At first, my husband wanted it to be a surprise and I was on the fence about it, I did and didn't want to know. But the more we thought about it, the more we wanted to know. Will will be finding out in a month. What got me to want to know was that, you can only buy but so much white, tan, green and yellow. Plus, there are those colors for boys and those for girls. Not to mention everyone will want to bring gender specific clothing and other stuff to the shower.

I couldn't wait to find out with my first child. They told me it was a girl so I brought all pink stuff and when my baby came it was a BOY!! They were so wrong and I was so upset because here Iam week after my C-section trying to exchange pink for blue.
