Hello Everyone, I have a daughter and she is 9 1/2 months old. She went to the peditritian for her 9 month check up and the doc brought up flu vaccinations. I'm not sure that I'm comfortable with exposing her to the shots especially the H1N1 becasue it is so new. She has never been sick, she appears to have a fairly healthy immune system (never had ear infections or anything) , I'm not sure I'm comfortable risking this- or if the regular flu shot is even nessacary. I have never gotten a flu shot in my life.(I'm aware they say the flu can be devistating to an infant..).. Another thought that crosses my mind, the flu shot is a gamble anyway becasue scientists try to accomodate the strain of flu that is going to be effecting the area that year.. isn't it just as much of a gamble to expose the children to a virus that they may never need to be exposed to? I tired talking to the doc about the flu shots and she said we'd talk about it next time when it's time for her to get the shot- I'd like to think it over and not be impulsive to what she says. I know she's the professional and went to school but she seems set in her opinion. I also asked about the H1N1 shot and she said "you know as much as we know".. That's a little scary to me.. but so is the idea of swine flu. I'd love to hear your opinions or research on the matter.
