I am flying for the first time with my 9 month old who will be 10 months by the trip. We have never flown before and I was wondering if anyone had any ideas as to what to bring him for the plane and any soothing techniques besides the breast feeding or bottle feeding. Thanks.

Wow thanks for all the great ideas everyone. It is only a 90 minute flight so not too long but still a little nervous. Luckily too nobody will be sleeping at 12 in the afternoon

All the above mentioned ideas are great. Snacks, Toys, pacifier on take off and landing. Also, I was very surprised that a lot of people on the plane- that I didnt even know- were willing to help too! With out me asking. I was surprised and happy to get some help. Since It was just me and my son.

Make sure they're getting a botlle or nsg whn you're taking off and landing. If they're sleeping they would probably be ok, so you don't have to wake them to feed them i they are asleep. If you have a portable dvd player that would be good for entertaing or their favorite book. If they're walking then you would probably want to periodically walk the isles with them =). Good luck.

P.S. You should bring antibacterial wipes and clean everything before you get in, especially if your baby is active and touching everything.

there are earplugs at the airport called "earplanes" they are a valve looking thing that you put in there ears and it allows the pressure to escape without any discomfort. They are brilliant and are available for infants, children and adults.... Other than that, I agree with the other mums. Some tasty snaks and a fav toy should do the trick...

Bring a few of his favorite toys and SNACKS...I can't stress that enough. My son has been flying with me since he was 3 months old and he's 6 1/2 now. He does great. The best thing to do to help the time pass is walk up and down the isle as long as it's safe. YOu'll be holding him in your lap I'm guessing...I always held my son until he was 2 and we had to buy a seat for him. Try to request a seat in the front of the section so you don't have a seat in front of you it makes it a lot easier.

Check your airline dpt. Some planes have you hold the baby on your lap (like the one I took did. It was surprising to me) and some have you attatch the baby's car seat into the seat. Best to know ahead of time : ) Also maybe bring a toy or a snack just incase. The Gerber Yogurt Bites worked well for my son, just incase they start acting up you can pop something in his/her mouth. The sucking also good so their ears don't pop. GL
