I know it varies between countries. im in NZ and my 2 and 3yo go in front in their car seats....and they only thing here about being in front is they not allowed in front if car has front airbags....maybe ring local police station or well child group just to check

I beleive the safe age is 14, and the safe weight to take them out of a boster is 60lbs.

I'm pretty sure they have to be 12yrs. or older and weigh a certain weight too.All because if you where in a car accident he could be hurt bad.I would call your local police or fire station and ask them what the age and weight is to ride in the front seat..just to be safe.

I believe the age is 12 where i live. I would tell him no since the safest place is in the back.

If you have an airbag then the child should be at least 100 lbs. before the front seat. If the seat belt fits them properly then you can take them out of carseats.

depends on where you live really in ohio that law has changed alot currently and most recently change that that any one under 4'9" and 70 lbs has to be in a booster seat. when i took my driving test for the first time at 5 years ago at 16 yrs old it was like 4 years old or 40 lbs then it went to 4 AND 40 lbs now its as i stated above the 70 lbs and height requirement.....meaning my boyfriends 11 year old nephew should be in a booster seat. he is 4'7" and 68 lbs. my suggestion is go to your local bmv and get the drivers manual it will be in there or simply ask or do a search on your state... and if you need a booster seat make sure its before the expiration date ...cause on ohio they have that too.... i guess too many people were going after companies older car seat models for being faulty so i think its like every 10 years they go bad. and if you go to www.4baby.com they have info on car seats there as well its where my pregnancy class got the learning dvd they gave us also mentioned that a child should be over so many lbs after their 1st b-day before they can have the seat turned around in the car. because it could over stretch the spine should something happen where they go forward too much.

i think 49 in without boost, but at least 10 i think for front seat. air bag can kill a child if they are not big enough

Sometimes you have to be cruel to be kind, just explain to him that the back seat is safer and as his mum you are looking out for his safety i know it sounds like the conversation is a bit old for him but as a priary school teacher i have come to realise that children need the truth and the facts at every age. In australia i think the child has to be over 12 to sit in the front seat and over 18kgs to ride without a booster seat ( i could be wrong though).

The back seat is the safest place to be if there are no airbags and airbags are a danger to children under 12. Just tell him no. It might be legal if the airbag is shut off but it is still more dangerous for him to ride up there because he will be closer to the point of impact in a typical accident.

Idk if it differs from state to state but children under 12 are not allowed in the front seat b/c of airbags and in NC there's a weight limit children have to be 53' tall and i think 83 lbs. to be in the seatbelt w/o a booster seat. Sadly, I see it a lot too when I take my oldest to school but I know a family that lost their son b/c he was riding in the front seat and they were in a car accidnet on the way.
